Garden Hill care home provides residential, dementia, nursing and respite care in a friendly, welcoming environment.

The home which is purpose-built is located over three floors and offers en-suite bedrooms on each floor. On the ground floor, there is a self-service coffee shop, conservatory, lounge and dining room. The middle floor has a cinema room and the top floor another dining room for residents. The home has secluded, spacious gardens.

The home has a 5 star food hygiene certificate and offers cooked breakfast, choice of lunch and dinner as well as a hospitality trolley with home made cakes made in the home kitchen.

The home has a full-time activities coordinator who organises a variety of fun and creative activities, entertainment and events for residents to choose from depending on their interests and hobbies.

Organised day trips and charity fundraising events give the home strong links with the local community and people from outside the home are often invited to take part in entertainment and events.

My sister has only been in this home for a matter of weeks but she seems more relaxed as the days go on. She is being encouraged by the staff in her mobility and personal care which is making my other sister and me happy. She is asked to attend activities, enjoys getting her hair done. The staff seem
to respect her wishes if she declines these offers.

I was very apprehensive about leaving my husband of 56 years in care, as you can tell we have never been separated, it was not easy to accept the new arrangements. I feel a lot better now I have seen the care he is receiving. There was a couple of issues but are now sorted. The staff are very good so
gentle and considerate and get the best out of my hubby as he has Parkinson's.

From my first visit I have been very pleased with all the staff that look after my wife, the home is like a home form home, clean and well run. Each visit you are greeted well and made welcome. All your questions are always answered very quickly. I can recommend this home to anyone.

Mum was admitted to Garden Hill from rehab - we have been very happy with her care. The carers and nurses are all lovely with her - there are always activities etc. plenty to stimulate her.
She has been quite poorly for periods during her stay and all the staff have been very caring and concerned and
done their utmost to make her comfortable.

Mum has lived at Garden Hill for 2 and a half years following a stroke. Her care has been excellent in this time. Despite a lot of changes in management and staff over the last few months care has continued to be great with little disruption to routines. We hope activities will improve with the appointment
of a new activities organiser recently. Thank you for treating my mum as an individual.

My father has been a resident here since February last year. She is fairly independent and hoping to move back home. Garden Hill have helped to organise visits to his home and considerations of his needs back in his own home. They always provide company to travel with him to hospital appointments that
we, his family can't attend and if a meal is needed early, or has to be postponed he is looked after appropriately. He is always greeted and addressed by staff.

My mother came here on 21st Dec 15 following a long stay in hospital due to a fall. (Which took place in hospital). Twice I was told my mother wouldn't make Christmas, this upset me a lot. Since being at Garden Hill my mother has a new lease of life. She has a better choice of meals which she thoroughly
enjoys. She is getting new teeth, glasses and has her hair done every week. The staff are lovely with her. Thanks to them all.

My Grandma experienced the best care from everyone in Garden Hill. They made her feel part of the family as well as us. Couldn't have asked for better staff making sure my Grandma was comfortable and in a friendly environment. Couldn't fault anything they did for her.

Fantastic home couldn't ask for better service. The Manager and her staff are absolutely brilliant they have done everything possible to make my mam part of there family couldn't praise them enough my mam has been living there for two years now and we have been so happy with the care and support she

After spending several years in a different care home in South Tyneside, which was very basic and didn't seem to provide personalised care, my grandma was transferred to Garden Hill for nursing and dementia care. The staff from day one went above and beyond their call of duty to ensure they prioritised
what was important to her. They made sure she was up, dressed and out of her room partaking in a huge range of scheduled activities, including singing and dancing, visits from pets, arts and crafts to name just a few. The care home manager was outstanding from the offset, my grandma grew a bond with her and we would often find her sitting with her drawing and making craft items. In her final days the team looked after us as much as her, explaining in detail what to expect and making sure she was comfortable. Not and hour went by when we weren't checked on to ensure we were all comfortable and any questions we had were answered. The Garden Hill team gave my grandma the best last months we could have asked for, words can not describe how grateful we are.
