I have found Garden Hill to be a very professional run home. My mother and father moved in on 31st October this year and are doing really well. The staff are very friendly and attentive to my parent's needs. Thank you.

I have visited my mam and dad at Garden Hill Centre on a number of occasions. On these visits, I have found the staff to be helpful and cheerful. I have also found the staff to be courteous, warm and emphatic to my mam and dad. The home has activities regularly which is a good structure to mam and dad's day. The staff keep our family informed of any changes to my mam and dad or any concerns to regarding their physical conditions.

My sister has only been in this home for a matter of weeks but she seems more relaxed as the days go on. She is being encouraged by the staff in her mobility and personal care which is making my other sister and me happy. She is asked to attend activities, enjoys getting her hair done. The staff seem to respect her wishes if she declines these offers.

I was very apprehensive about leaving my husband of 56 years in care, as you can tell we have never been separated, it was not easy to accept the new arrangements. I feel a lot better now I have seen the care he is receiving. There was a couple of issues but are now sorted. The staff are very good so gentle and considerate and get the best out of my hubby as he has Parkinson's.

Mum was admitted to Garden Hill from rehab - we have been very happy with her care. The carers and nurses are all lovely with her - there are always activities etc. plenty to stimulate her.

She has been quite poorly for periods during her stay and all the staff have been very caring and concerned and done their utmost to make her comfortable.

Mum has lived at Garden Hill for 2 and a half years following a stroke. Her care has been excellent in this time. Despite a lot of changes in management and staff over the last few months care has continued to be great with little disruption to routines. We hope activities will improve with the appointment of a new activities organiser recently. Thank you for treating my mum as an individual.

My father has been a resident here since February last year. She is fairly independent and hoping to move back home. Garden Hill have helped to organise visits to his home and considerations of his needs back in his own home. They always provide company to travel with him to hospital appointments that we, his family can't attend and if a meal is needed early, or has to be postponed he is looked after appropriately. He is always greeted and addressed by staff.

My mother came here on 21st Dec 15 following a long stay in hospital due to a fall. (Which took place in hospital). Twice I was told my mother wouldn't make Christmas, this upset me a lot. Since being at Garden Hill my mother has a new lease of life. She has a better choice of meals which she thoroughly enjoys. She is getting new teeth, glasses and has her hair done every week. The staff are lovely with her. Thanks to them all.

Review from Logan B (Grandson of Resident) published on 15 September 2015 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

After spending several years in a different care home in South Tyneside, which was very basic and didn't seem to provide personalised care, my grandma was transferred to Garden Hill for nursing and dementia care. The staff from day one went above and beyond their call of duty to ensure they prioritised what was important to her. They made sure she was up, dressed and out of her room partaking in a huge range of scheduled activities, including singing and dancing, visits from pets, arts and crafts to name just a few. The care home manager was outstanding from the offset, my grandma grew a bond with her and we would often find her sitting with her drawing and making craft items. In her final days the team looked after us as much as her, explaining in detail what to expect and making sure she was comfortable. Not and hour went by when we weren't checked on to ensure we were all comfortable and any questions we had were answered. The Garden Hill team gave my grandma the best last months we could have asked for, words can not describe how grateful we are.
