Needham Court Care Home, located in the historic shipbuilding town of Jarrow, provides personalised residential and residential dementia care to older people.

The lovely home offers many facilities for residents to enjoy such as on-site hair salon, landscaped gardens and minibus for activities and trips. The enhanced wellbeing programme allows residents to pursue hobbies and interests whilst learning new skills.

Needham continues to improve. Staff are always pleasant and helpful, and if they have a problem always resolved quickly and professionally. Food is always good as regular assistance from my mam with feeding. Mam's room has been decorated and is always clean. What can I give this home on a rating, excellent

My great auntie lives in Needham Court I have no issues at all with the care she recives, all the staff work well together, from care, housekeeping to kitchen. Food choices are excellent, tea trolleys are always plentiful, the rooms and the public areas are always well maintained, also they have a great
well being co-ordinator, the M.O Cheryl is always happy to address any issues with maintaining the rooms.

Just wanted to say thank you to all the wonderful team at Needham court . While we have been out of the country they have looked after my mother in law so well . She has unfortunately been admitted to hospital while we were away and as always the staff stepped in and took care of things for us . Some
staff went above & beyond to help make sure she had everything she needed and made a stressful situation for us so much easier . Thank you Needham court for your continued care & love x

I strongly advise against sending any family member to this care home. My mother was a resident for just over 14 months, and throughout her time there, the quality of care was consistently poor. The hygiene standards were unacceptable; her room was rarely cleaned, and her medication was not properly
supervised. During her stay, tablets were repeatedly found unattended. My mother was self-funding her care, which makes the substandard conditions and lack of proper oversight all the more concerning.
Despite raising numerous concerns during her residency, none of these issues were documented or recorded by the staff. Furthermore, my mother was left alone in her room for days at a time, with no meaningful stimulation or engagement. Witnessing her treatment was heart-breaking and undignified. Even the staff expressed their own reservations, indicating they would not entrust their own family members to Needham Court. Please consider this care home carefully before making any decisions.

My sister has been a resident now since November 2023. I have constantly found the personal care and commission with family very difficult. Whenever staff are asked about her care and plan of care, there is never a senior staff member available. I have had to be proactive in getting outside services
involved in her care and the staff never provided me with feedback. On several occasions, I have found her sitting in her room with a meal in front of her not touched. On one occasion, I had to cut the meal up to assist her in eating it. Medication was found in her food and when asked about pain relief staff were not able to give me the response to the question. The carpet in the room was very dirty and food trodden into the carpet around her seat.
General overall care on several visits was limited and the purchase of birthday presents went missing - staff stating they didn't know where they were. I have made several complaints and had meetings with the deputy and staff on the unit - no response to verbal or written complaints.

I have found all the care staff, manager and the whole team who work at Needham Court. Excellent at their job, they are all caring, supportive, efficient and very helpful if asked a question. They work with residents' families and learn about the person who they look after.
I have been very impressed
with the overall running, cleanliness and care of all the staff and management. They deserve top marks for their overall performance.

Warm, welcoming home, where everyone is friendly, and nothing is too much trouble. Always kept up to date with the care of our dad. Feels like a second home, somewhere he is settled, which is a huge relief.
