Bryony Lodge Care Home is located in Sunderland's Grangetown area and is close to shops, amenities, public transport and the A19.

This purpose-built care home provides accommodation in single occupancy rooms, all of which have en-suite facilities.

Bryony Lodge features TV lounges and a quiet sitting room for relaxation. Separate dining rooms, where residents can socialise at meal times, are also available. Traditional home cooked food is served using fresh produce, with residents being able to select from the choices available daily. Special diets can be catered for.

Residents may benefit from the regular visits made to the home by an experienced hair stylist and qualified chiropodist. Complementary therapies can be arranged.

The home provides a varied programme of activities for residents' enjoyment.

My Mum has been here only two weeks but the care has been excellent. Like many older people, she has many health problems. The staff have dealt with them all with absolute professionalism. She has settled so well and it is a great comfort for us too. I can go home and not worry.

My mother has been in Bryony Lodge now for almost one year after her previous care home was closed. It helped her that some of her friends moved with her, but she has been made to feel welcome from the start and is settled and content. For me, and the rest of the family, it has been reassuring to know
that she is well cared for and that everything, including her personal and medical care, is well looked after.

The staff in the care home are exceptional, always going the extra mile with my grandad to make sure he is happy every day. I have only been coming to Bryony Lodge Care Home for about 10 months, in that short time, there is a tremendous difference in my sister. I can relax in the knowledge that my sister is being well fed, looked after and had constant care.
I have been to the home today (Valentine's day) and was pleased
to see that entertainment was surprised. I enjoyed it myself as well as the residents.

My mother was only a short time in Bryony Lodge.
At Christmas time she was to be discharged from a hospice and could no longer be cared for at home due to complex nursing needs.
I spoke to the manager and one of her nurses and she went on to make a comprehensive assessment and assured me her staff
could care for Mam.
It was so difficult for us all to accept that care at home was no longer an option but all the staff on the nursing unit made the process as easy as possible with their efforts.
After extensive disease progression, Mam died this morning. My daughter and her young children were visiting and the nurse was wonderful. She called me in then went on to take the children into her care while my daughter sat with her grandma in her last moments.
In Mam's last hours the nurse had given her appropriate medicines and, most importantly, spent time with an anxious and dying lady.
There is only one chance to get it right and I shall always be grateful for this care.

My mother was a resident here for a short period of time but the care she received was exceptional. The managers, nurses, carers, housekeepers, admin staff, treated her with great love and affection. As a family, we can't praise them enough and made her recent passing so much easier for us. She died
peacefully and with dignity.

I am happy with the staff and manager. 2 weeks into my stay I am enjoying my time here. I have enjoyed activities, cooking, pamper days. I like sitting in the garden. I used to own my own home but now I have a lot of friends around me.

I was so anxious that my Father was going into residential care but was totally amazed at the excellent standard of care, staff compassionate, caring and professional, every need was catered for to the highest standard. They treated him like a family member. I couldn't ask for more. Would recommend

Bright surroundings with a good, positive atmosphere. Rooms are spacious and able to be personalised. Staff are exemplary from management, nursing and care assistants. All have a bright, positive can-do attitude and they seem to understand the needs and feelings of family and visitors as well as the

Hi, I am the Home Manager here at Bryony Lodge Nursing Home!


I am proud to say that I am a dedicated qualified registered manager I have completed QCF Level 5 in Leadership and Management. And I am fortunate to be in a position to lead such a wonderful group of staff I have worked in healthcare since I was 19 and started out as a healthcare assistant within a care home providing complex nursing care for residents, as well as rehabilitation and palliative care. I also managed a Home Care business where I provided help and support into the community.


I love my role at Bryony Lodge and take great pride in supporting the team. The nurses and the staff are a dedicated and well-established group, and are all very proactive. I live local to the care home so I have good knowledge of the area.


Our staff are what holds the home together. Each one of these team members are dedicated to providing high quality care and services to those we support, and ensuring the residents enjoy all aspects of life at our home.v
