Bryony Lodge Care Home is located in Sunderland's Grangetown area and is close to shops, amenities, public transport and the A19.

This purpose-built care home provides accommodation in single occupancy rooms, all of which have en-suite facilities.

Bryony Lodge features TV lounges and a quiet sitting room for relaxation. Separate dining rooms, where residents can socialise at meal times, are also available. Traditional home cooked food is served using fresh produce, with residents being able to select from the choices available daily. Special diets can be catered for.

Residents may benefit from the regular visits made to the home by an experienced hair stylist and qualified chiropodist. Complementary therapies can be arranged.

The staff here are excellent and living here is also excellent. The staff here and management here are also excellent. The home itself is an excellent place to live. Very homely and I would highly recommend this place to other people.

My visits to Bryony Lodge Nursing Home in recent months have always been a pleasurable experience. The staff are polite and helpful and appear happy in their working environment which promotes a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Obviously, this contributes to a positive experience for all involved - staff,
visitors, and especially residents who respond well and evidently have good relationships with a member of staff who in my experience always display a caring attitude. The manager is positive and interested in the home being run to a high standard and committed to providing the right sort of care to any who come to stay. I highly recommend.

My mother has been at Bryony Lodge Nursing Home since February and I have had no complaints at all. She has Dementia and is pretty much bedbound so her use of activities/facilities is somewhat limited. Having said that the Activities boards are full and there is always a buzz. The team ask me what
I think mam would like to do.


The staff make me feel welcome and always treat my mother with a great level of care and respect, my mam cannot communicate but seems very settled. There has been a recent change in ownership and with that comes a change in Management/staff. I have been asked to join a recruitment panel to help with the intake of new staff, this I think is an excellent idea and the inclusion of families a big plus. Her room is nice and is always spotless, the food is varied and of a good quality.


My score of satisfactory for Value for Money is not a reflection on the charges Bryony has in place which are very competitive, but more that as a self funder I find ALL care fees extortionate

I always feel that the residents and families are listened to. The staff are approachable and since new management have been in, the whole home feels a lot more welcoming. I look forward to the continued improvement and also love that my husband is smiling again.

This is a very caring home. The staff are very proud of their reputation for genuine interest in each and every resident - quite rightly so. Nothing is ever a problem (even when they don't know they are being overheard). Nowhere is perfect but this care home is as good as you get. My mother has been
here for two years and five months and is very happy - she would let the staff know if there was a problem!

My dad has been looked after well since he moved in a few weeks ago. I am happy with the quality of care he is getting. He is on a special diet and the staff are working very diligently in order to get him to eat properly.

Hi, I am the Home Manager here at Bryony Lodge Nursing Home!


I am proud to say that I am a dedicated qualified registered manager I have completed QCF Level 5 in Leadership and Management. And I am fortunate to be in a position to lead such a wonderful group of staff I have worked in healthcare since I was 19 and started out as a healthcare assistant within a care home providing complex nursing care for residents, as well as rehabilitation and palliative care. I also managed a Home Care business where I provided help and support into the community.


I love my role at Bryony Lodge and take great pride in supporting the team. The nurses and the staff are a dedicated and well-established group, and are all very proactive. I live local to the care home so I have good knowledge of the area.


Our staff are what holds the home together. Each one of these team members are dedicated to providing high quality care and services to those we support, and ensuring the residents enjoy all aspects of life at our home.v
