Welcome to Washington Lodge Care Home, nestled within the charming residential area of Washington Village. The purpose-built home offers a warm and inviting environment where residents receive high standards of compassionate and dignified care.

Washington Lodge specialises in providing 24-hour nursing dementia care for individuals living with dementia or related conditions, as well as nursing and residential care for older adults with diverse health needs. Each resident receives personalised care tailored to their unique needs and preferences. The qualified nursing teams work closely with residents and their families to create individualised care plans that reflect their strengths, interests, and physical and emotional abilities.

In addition to exceptional care services, the home is also proud to offer a range of enriching activities facilitated by the wonderful activities coordinator, who engages residents in activities five days a week. Residents also have the opportunity to enjoy visits from a hairdresser who comes once a week, as well as access to a chiropractor and dentist who visit the home as needed.

Furthermore, the home hosts weekly meetings with healthcare professionals from the local GP surgery, The Galleries Medical Practice, ensuring that residents receive comprehensive and coordinated care.

The talented chefs take pride in crafting delicious home-cooked meals using fresh, nutritious ingredients. They cater to diverse dietary and cultural needs, ensuring that every resident enjoys meals that suit their tastes and preferences.

The home's comfortable and well-equipped single rooms are wheelchair-friendly and feature amenities such as nurse call systems, sinks, and TV points, with some rooms offering picturesque views over the courtyard area. Residents can also relax in the choice of lounge areas, featuring specially designed furnishings for comfort and relaxation.

We do not charge a top up fee at washington lodge nursing home. We have nurses on site 24 hours a day.

I would like to thank Washington Lodge for the exemplary care afforded to my mam for the duration of her residency. This period was from January to August 2020.
When my mam was admitted to Washington Lodge in January of this year, she was officially classified as being in a state of palliative care.
Within the first 2 weeks of her stay, her state of health improved and she was then deemed no longer to be in that state.
When mam was transferred from hospital to this nursing home it was an anxious time for all concerned, but she settled into her new residence really quite well, which was entirely down to the care and consideration from members of staff, who with kindness and patience went about seeing to her every need and carried out all tasks around mam and her environment, including looking after her family visitors.
When mam began her end of life process, the staff knew exactly what to do, and managed the situation with seamless professionalism,

The staff at Washington Lodge are excellent and genuinely care about the residents they are looking after.
There are some minor areas that need attention such as decoration of the bathrooms and living spaces could be more dementia friendly!

My father has been a resident of this home for 18 months now, after bad experiences in two others and suffers from Vascular Dementia and Alzheimers. In relation to the care given to my father and other residents by staff, I can only use one word - 'Outstanding!' As mentioned , due to previous bad
experiences in other homes, my family know what poor care looks like.


The staff here get to know each resident personally, and in the case of dementia what triggers episodes etc so that they can take action to avoid 'episodes'. Their approach and constant good humour and smiles, help residents feel safe and secure, which in turn helps the extended families come to terms with relatives being in a care home, which can be traumatic.


The home has been open for many years and was showing signs of wear, however, the new manager and owners are in the process of improvements, and nothing seems too much trouble. The food is of a very good standard, and the homemade cakes are lovely.

There was a good standard of care prior to the change of ownership and the staff level of care was exceptional. A difference now is that there is more staff on every Sunday.
The refurbishment is very good, it is more homely with pictures, etc.
I am more than pleased with the standards of the staff
and I am on first name terms with them, including the two nurses.

My brother has been a resident since 2014 as my mother died and he lived with her. She did everything for him, so it has been a big change. With the love, care and understanding Washington have given him, he has settled. He does get upset and angry at times but is normally happy and loves the staff.
Since the new manager and new staff came, they have built this place up nicely. The revamp is great and coming on nicely.

My father has been at Washington Lodge now for a number of years. I am very grateful for the staff who look after him as they treat him with dignity and respect and he can, I know because of his dementia, be at times very difficult. I was concerned when the home changed ownership but I have to say that
the same standard of care has continued and he seems to be very happy there.

The staff and management I find extremely good. Although the décor could so with an update (which is in progress) the layout of the home is very good. The room's - although not large, are quite comfortable and warm. My Mam is on end of life care, I find the staff really helpful and keep her very comfortable,
changing her bed and nightie as needed. They talk to her and I hear them with other residents as they assist in feeding and moving them in their beds and chairs. Overall, I find I am quite satisfied with the quality of care provided. The 3 nurses I have met are excellent in answering any questions.

The building is not modern as it does not have a shower or personal toilets. This is not required as my wife needs a hoist to lift her in and out of bed and chairs. The staff listen to me and are very friendly and helpful, not only to my wife but to other residents as well. Some of the residents are
aggressive and the staff are very patient. My wife cannot speak, feed herself or walk.

My mum had to go into residential care in December 2015 following a stroke. She has been in Washington Lodge for five months now and her care has been great. I have visited many times and have seen how lovely and caring the staff are with her. Her room is clean and tidy, she seems happy to be home.
If she can't be with us I'm glad she's in Washington Lodge.

I find the care is good and my brother tells me the girls are lovely, the food is nice and he enjoys it. My brother is communicating well in the home and I much brighter. He enjoys chatting with the girls.
