The overall experience in Washington Lodge Nursing Home in my eyes is a very good nursing home. The staff are very, very good. They treat my dad with the best care, the rooms are very nice and you can put your own TV in there etc. So, overall, the staff, management and rooms are 10/10.

Good experience, staff are kind and welcoming and highly trained for dementia care. Could do with updating the home in general, a bit bare and out of date, which would be nice for the residents and staff. Thanks all.

Thank you for your review, we are currently under a programme for decorating within the home and have done quite a lot within the last couple of months and often speak of this within the relative and residents meeting if you would like to attend. Notices are displayed within the home. Thank you again.

My grandad has been in Washington Lodge Nursing Home for a number of years now. Prior to entering the home, he was in and out of hospital as he had struggled to care for himself however since entering Washington Lodge, he has remained well, including during Covid-19 which is fantastic. Staff have a great rapport with him which is great to see, they are always helpful, kind and remain in contact with us about his care, health and wellbeing. His care plan continues to be monitored and the care he receives is adjusted to his needs as and when required.

Mam has been in Washington Lodge for 2 years now and is very comfortable and well taken care of. The staff are very caring and make mam feel part of a family. This year has been stressful for all but the home have done extremely well in keeping all the residents safe whilst accommodating the needs of the family to see Mam.

My Dad has been at the Home with Dementia for about 18 months now and has been well looked after. The staff I have met, have been caring and lay on activities for residents, which I think is important. Although it is not possible at the moment with the problems with Covid 19, I would, however, like to see the residents taken out a bit more often. I do realise this is not easy to do though.

I would like to thank Washington Lodge for the exemplary care afforded to my mam for the duration of her residency. This period was from January to August 2020.
When my mam was admitted to Washington Lodge in January of this year, she was officially classified as being in a state of palliative care. Within the first 2 weeks of her stay, her state of health improved and she was then deemed no longer to be in that state.
When mam was transferred from hospital to this nursing home it was an anxious time for all concerned, but she settled into her new residence really quite well, which was entirely down to the care and consideration from members of staff, who with kindness and patience went about seeing to her every need and carried out all tasks around mam and her environment, including looking after her family visitors.
When mam began her end of life process, the staff knew exactly what to do, and managed the situation with seamless professionalism,

Thank you so much.

The staff at Washington Lodge are excellent and genuinely care about the residents they are looking after.

There are some minor areas that need attention such as decoration of the bathrooms and living spaces could be more dementia friendly!

My father has been a resident of this home for 18 months now, after bad experiences in two others and suffers from Vascular Dementia and Alzheimers. In relation to the care given to my father and other residents by staff, I can only use one word - 'Outstanding!' As mentioned , due to previous bad experiences in other homes, my family know what poor care looks like.

The staff here get to know each resident personally, and in the case of dementia what triggers episodes etc so that they can take action to avoid 'episodes'. Their approach and constant good humour and smiles, help residents feel safe and secure, which in turn helps the extended families come to terms with relatives being in a care home, which can be traumatic.

The home has been open for many years and was showing signs of wear, however, the new manager and owners are in the process of improvements, and nothing seems too much trouble. The food is of a very good standard, and the homemade cakes are lovely.

There was a good standard of care prior to the change of ownership and the staff level of care was exceptional. A difference now is that there is more staff on every Sunday.
The refurbishment is very good, it is more homely with pictures, etc.

I am more than pleased with the standards of the staff and I am on first name terms with them, including the two nurses.

My brother has been a resident since 2014 as my mother died and he lived with her. She did everything for him, so it has been a big change. With the love, care and understanding Washington have given him, he has settled. He does get upset and angry at times but is normally happy and loves the staff. Since the new manager and new staff came, they have built this place up nicely. The revamp is great and coming on nicely.

My father has been at Washington Lodge now for a number of years. I am very grateful for the staff who look after him as they treat him with dignity and respect and he can, I know because of his dementia, be at times very difficult. I was concerned when the home changed ownership but I have to say that the same standard of care has continued and he seems to be very happy there.

The staff and management I find extremely good. Although the décor could so with an update (which is in progress) the layout of the home is very good. The room's - although not large, are quite comfortable and warm. My Mam is on end of life care, I find the staff really helpful and keep her very comfortable, changing her bed and nightie as needed. They talk to her and I hear them with other residents as they assist in feeding and moving them in their beds and chairs. Overall, I find I am quite satisfied with the quality of care provided. The 3 nurses I have met are excellent in answering any questions.

The building is not modern as it does not have a shower or personal toilets. This is not required as my wife needs a hoist to lift her in and out of bed and chairs. The staff listen to me and are very friendly and helpful, not only to my wife but to other residents as well. Some of the residents are aggressive and the staff are very patient. My wife cannot speak, feed herself or walk.

My mum had to go into residential care in December 2015 following a stroke. She has been in Washington Lodge for five months now and her care has been great. I have visited many times and have seen how lovely and caring the staff are with her. Her room is clean and tidy, she seems happy to be home. If she can't be with us I'm glad she's in Washington Lodge.
