I have lost my wonderful husband to Alzheimer's for a long period of time now; however, the thought of him not being with me in order to be reassured he was loved was a dread. From the first encounter with people from his now home, I felt a weight lifted from my very tired shoulders. I have always been able to communicate my feelings, be it concerns re his care, and have always been given their time to listen and move forward. The staff are kind and patient, and believe me, given some of my husband's episodes, I have to commend them in that department. I cannot speak highly enough of the manager; she is, without a doubt, someone you wish every care home looking after your loved ones were lucky to have in charge. If you have to let go of caring for a loved one, I would say you should certainly consider this home.

The home and staff are very professional and offer a high level of care.
My mother's care has been first-class since entering in August 2019.

I have been kept fully informed of my mother's care throughout.

Staff at Washington Lodge Nursing Home are very helpful and caring at all times and I feel very comfortable approaching them with any problems. My ex husband has been there five years now and had some very difficult days but with the care and support from the carers has made great improvement in his mental health and general well being.

I am his only visitor really so the staff are also like friends to him.

My mother has been a resident at Washington Lodge for two years now, in that time management has changed and I must say there has been huge improvements. They have done a very good job keeping residents safe and cared for during a very difficult time due to Covid. Mam is very happy and settled there.

My mum had been a resident at Washington Lodge for 4 years and passed away at the home in September 2022. Each time I visited I felt so supported by all the staff and feel blessed that Mum was able to live in such caring surroundings.
If someone asked me if I regretted Mum being there, I would say no, because she felt like this was her home and loved it there.

Is there anything I would change about the home or the staff? Again, no. Everyone has been amazing throughout Mum's stay, from the manager (who went above and beyond what was expected of her when Mum was receiving her end-of-life care) to each and every member of staff. Day team, night team, kitchen staff, admin...honestly, I cannot thank them enough for the love and support they gave both Mum and me. They made a huge difference in such a sad time and I will always be grateful to them and recommend them to everyone who is looking for a placement for someone they love.

In my opinion, since late 2021 I have witnessed a significant improvement in the condition of the home. As an example, it has been redecorated and now has new furniture etc and it has been done to a very high standard. In my opinion, all of the staff are committed, professional and warm and welcoming to visitors.

My father who is a resident and suffers from dementia is cared for to a very high standard and more importantly to me is treated with dignity and respect.

I was pleased to see that there was an exercise class to music going on for residents. Sitting exercises are wonderful for all residents, and most of them joined in. I tried to encourage my mam to join in, but she has Alzheimer's and is in a wheelchair, so limited to what she can do. Anyway, everyone took part in some way, either by singing along with the music or actually doing the exercises. Judging by the look on their faces and their singing, I can only assume it was beneficial for them.

My husband has been a resident at Washington Lodge for just over 4 months and I am extremely happy with the care that he receives there. All of the staff are very friendly and caring and treat the residents with both respect and affection. There is a warm atmosphere which is really nice to see and nothing is too much trouble. I am very grateful to all the staff for their kindness and support. It's a huge relief to see my husband happy and settled and know he is being well looked after.

My mam has been in Washington Lodge since 2013, during which the home has changed hands a number of times and had a number of managers.
The current manager is running this home exceptionally well. She is brilliant with communication. Always is accessible and will do anything she can to help.
The staff in the home are attentive and during Covid clearly followed guidelines as Mam did not contract Covid which is a pure credit to them.

The home is always clean and Mam is in a new room, freshly decorated which is spacious and airy.

My parents both moved into the home together. On the first day, Mam had a fall and immediately the staff suggested hospital treatment. She was kept in for 4 weeks, confirming their prompt attention was correct. Dad is very happy with the care he recieves. Last night we had a celebration party at our house (only 200 meters away) and the staff persuaded him to join us. To top it all, they even pushed him around. Above and beyond the call of duty.

My husband has lived at Washington Lodge Nursing Home for three and a half years. Initially, I was very reluctant to have him in any nursing home as his condition is very rare and challenging, however, the nurses and carers have exceeded all of my expectations. They show genuine affection for him, which I see every day. I know he is being cared for very well and this is of great comfort to me and all of his family. I am always informed of any changes in his condition, which are dealt with promptly and efficiently. Myself and my family cannot thank them enough for all they do for him.

My Nanna has been a resident at Washington Lodge Nursing Home for a year and a half now. She loves every single member of staff due to the care they show towards her. They know her routine, what she likes and what she doesn't like. Not only do the staff get to know the resident but they also take the time to get to know the family of the resident. Every time you visit they keep you up to date with how your family member is doing and what activities they've taken part in.

My husband has been in Washington Lodge for nearly three years having been unsettled in two previous care homes. Everyone is extremely friendly and dedicated to caring for all his needs in challenging situations. The new manager has implemented changes in all areas of the home for the benefit of residents, relatives and staff. I am very grateful to all the staff for looking after him as I appreciate that caring for dementia patients can be demanding.

My dad was transferred from the hospital, after having a stroke, to Washington Lodge, he has only been in several weeks, but all of the staff are friendly and most obliging and responsive to questions.
The care so far has been great and feels like a nice place for my dad to be in.
The food he gets seems very good quality and eats it even though he’s fussy when it comes to his food.
It is a very hard choice when selecting a care home for your loved one, Washington Lodge is a great place and I’d have no worries advising anyone to select this for their loved one.

The only thing is rooms don’t have ensuite toilets, but this isn’t a big thing as there are numerous toilets around.
