Washington Lodge Nursing Home

I find the home a pleasant place with a happy atmosphere. All the staff work doe the good of the residents. My husband is very happy and contented there and keeps saying how well he is looked after. I marvel at the patience and gentleness of the staff and the dignity with which the residents are treated.

Staff have contributed to my sister-in-law's care in many ways - support, compassion and empathy. The carers' support has been excellent by going the extra mile of communication in sign language. Thank you.

My parents have been at Washington Lodge for the past 3 years. I cannot speak highly enough about the care that they have received from the manager and team. Day and night we are absolutely confident that they are receiving the care and comfort that they need, care that responds to their individual needs. I have no hesitation in recommending Washington Lodge as a safe, caring environment for people who require end-of-life care.

The people in this care home who look after my dad are absolutely amazing. They are so friendly and kind with the patience of a saint. The job they all do in there is so good. Feel welcome every time I visit.

As a carer myself, I understand the situation of the home.

My mother came to Washington Lodge last year and received a great welcome. She settled well and has developed suitable relationships with the staff. The care she receives is great - everyone is friendly, competent and responsive to anything we ask.

The catering is great, mam once said to me when she was much younger that if I have to go into a home, make sure it has good food, she does have good food.

My mam needed 24 hour nursing care quite suddenly. After much research, we chose Washington Lodge. The manager and her team worked so hard to make Mam feel settled. The staff from the home are absolutely outstanding. Their care, love, compassion and understanding are amazing. They care wonderfully for Mam but also ensure the family and other visitors are welcome. We can't thank each of you for your hard work enough. And you are all making a very difficult time much easier. Thank you.

Special shout out to one staff members who worked so hard decorating the room, planning the menu and music for the female residents, and making sure everyone was having a good time. Thanks to all staff for making this a memorable day for mam and the family.

I am very happy with my mam's care we are very lucky to have care at Washington Lodge.

Massive thank you to the home manager for her continued support and help. Carers are always helpful and caring. Meals are a bit repetitive, could do with more fruit and veg. Generally very pleased with care.

My experience of Washington Lodge has been a pleasant one, in fact much better than I expected. Everyone there is approachable and helpful and treat you with respect. After every visit, I leave my mother with the confidence that she is in good hands and well looked after.

My mother has been a resident since November 2023. We had the normal heartbreak for all of us to get her settled, however, the staff gave us a lot of confidence she would settle. I can only say they have been so caring towards her and she was quite challenging at first. Some of the girls treat her like their own family and my mam loves the attention. If there is a negative and probably every home in the country is the same, it's the washing situation, not getting Mam's clothes back. I honestly don't know the answer but as far as caring we wouldn't ask for more.

We can visit at any time, it’s just like we were visiting Mam in her home. Mam has made a massive improvement in her health since coming to the home.

My grandad was in the home for 6 years, it became his home. He was as happy as he could be, was always well looked after and kept clean and healthy.

Washington Lodge was Dad's home for the last 6 years of his life. The management and staff treat Dad with love, respect and dignity up to the very end. Sitting with him through the night in his final days. We were able to be with our dad as he passed, I believe this was because of how much attention staff took.

An excellent caring well run home and always a pleasure to go and see my dad. Staff are always friendly and helpful.

I would say Washington Lodge is a very good care home, excellent in most areas. The staff do a great job looking after the residents, many of whom have great problems and are very unwell. The staff do their jobs diligently and in a friendly, communicative manner, from the carers to the doctors, the cleaners, the people who upkeep the nursing home and the managers and administrative staff. I want to say a big thank you to all concerned.
