My husband is in his 3rd year of being in Brierton Lodge. Throughout this period the care and nursing has been second to none. Every care and nursing requirement have always been met.
All needs are taken with loving care. Nothing is false, what you see and need is what you get.
The whole family is
supported with love and care.
All procedures are explained.
At times when medical care has been required I have requested my husband remains here rather than hospital.

Mam was moved into Brierton Lodge as she needed nursing care and was awarded nursing funding.
Since she's been in, she has settled down lovely. She is eating her meals, laughing lots and is generally settled.
I'm so pleased that there was a room for her.

First visit to see Nana since moving into Brierton Lodge, and already, you can see positive changes. She's clean, tidy, gaining weight and generally laughing and smiling again. Such a relief for the family knowing she's in good hands.

I would like to thank this fantastic home, and all of the staff, each and every one of them, for the care they have given my mam in the short time she was with them. The care she received was fantastic, then when she became really ill, all the staff looked after me and any family that was there, including
food and drinks whenever we needed it. Nothing at all was a bother for them, (even opening and closing the main doors 50 thousand times). Thanks for everything, highly recommend this establishment to care for your loved ones. This has been wrote on behalf of my mam and myself and all family.

The staff are friendly. Mam seems to be well looked after - she makes no complaints about the staff and meals - again she doesn't say anything against but please note (along with most relatives I think) do not see most of the food, only occasionally if I happen to be there near teatime. Very happy with
Mam staying here. She seems to like it and is very settled. Has said she likes living here.

My only complaint, would be access on a weekend. Dad (who is 90 years old), has stood for ten to fifteen minutes waiting for someone to open the door. I appreciate staff are busy without having to keep coming and opening the door. Maybe visitors who are regular visitors should be provided with a code
or employ someone to be in the office on a weekend to open the door.
Reply from Diane Kerwin, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Brierton Lodge Care Home

Thank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. We are sorry to hear your Dad has experienced issues with accessing the home on a weekend and that he had too long a wait before the door was opened by a member of staff. Unfortunately, due to security reasons, we are unable to give the code out to visitors. The Home Manager and Deputy Home Manager have been informed of your concern and they are looking at a suitable solution to this to ensure your Dad and other visitors are not left standing outside the home for long periods of time. The Home Manager would be more than happy to meet with your Dad or yourself to discuss any issues or concerns you have so that these can be addressed. Thank you for your positive comments, we will ensure these are passed over to the staff team at Brierton Lodge.

I cannot thank them enough for the care that has been given to my wife as she was a carer for twenty years herself. The staff have been very, very good as my wife still thinks she is at work sometimes and they let her think she is.

All staff at the home show kindness, care and compassion in abundance. Not only did I witness the most wonderful care for my grandad but they were consistent with all residents (and visitors). The home is clean and comfortable and the staff know their residents and their needs very well. I hope the
staff get the recognition they deserve for an amazing job.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.803)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.803) out of 10 for Brierton Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.500 for Brierton Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (60 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.303 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brierton Lodge Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.6 = 0.603
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
