Staff are very friendly and accommodating and there appears to be genuine care for the residents. My nana always seems to be comfortable and well-fed(!)
There are some activities planned for residents to engage with but opportunities for positive interaction and mental stimulation do seem limited.
I have never dealt with management and so do not wish to comment.

My mother's condition has improved greatly during her stay at Brierton Lodge, compared to her condition whilst in hospital. The professionalism and courtesy of the management and staff are exemplary. I commend them highly to anyone. I would also like to express the gratitude of m whole family to all

The care in Brierton Lodge was exceptional. I am a nurse and the standard was excellent. The carers were all wonderful. The place was so clean and tidy. The manager was always checking to see if we needed anything. The food was top quality. The best care home in Hartlepool.

My mam went into Brierton Lodge on 8th Sept. Sadly she passed away on the 18th. The care was amazing, all the staff from the manager down to the domestics were so friendly and caring towards mam. Nothing was any trouble. She had a beautiful room. I know in my heart she went peacefully in beautiful surroundings
and 100% care.

My mum was really struggling to settle in her previous care home, she ended up in a mental hospital, we just knew she would settle at Brierton Lodge after we explored the home. She has settled wonderfully and I know that is down to the staff and management. They have so much patience and are wonderful
with the residents, nothing is too much trouble for the residents and their families. Thank you, I don't worry about her at all now.

There was a great feeling of relief when my father was admitted to Brierton Lodge. I had been to visit (impromptu) and staff took time to show me around and answer any questions. I have observed excellent care, compassion, professionalism, excellent liaison with other services when needed (111, GP etc.,)
and I have been contacted appropriately, in a timely way when need to be informed about something. I would not hesitate to recommend Brierton Lodge highly.

Here today with entertainment (miniature horses - ponies). Visitors, residents and horses love the experience and they are the hight of entertainment. My Aunt was a resident in this home and she always loved the way she was kept involved in many activities. Her care was extremely suited to her needs
and requirements from her arriving to her death.

My nan was in this home for only a very short time before she passed away but in that time she received exceptional treatment from all the staff members. She was made to feel extremely at home, meals were wholesome and varied and tasted great, the facilities were first class and she felt at home from
day one.

My Nan was only in Brierton for just short of a week before she sadly passed away. The care she received while there was amazing and the home itself has so much to offer for the elderly, it's outstanding. Even when Nan passed, the staff were brilliant, very caring, compassionate and respectful.
I
wish Nan had got the opportunity sooner to move into this care home as I'm certain she would have been well looked after and very happy there. I'm forever grateful to the staff for making the last week of Nan's life a settled, caring and less painfull one.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.803)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.803) out of 10 for Brierton Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.500 for Brierton Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (60 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.303 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brierton Lodge Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.6 = 0.603
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
