My wife is a resident of Tollesby Hall Care Home. She has settled in well and is well cared for by all the staff. She finds them friendly, understanding, helpful and caring. The basic nursing care is excellent and so have all the supporting staff. She is always well-attired when I visit her. She told me the meals are great. The manager and her staff always welcomed me with a big smile and asked if there are issues regarding my wife's care etc. and willing to help. The corridors are always clean and free flow, nothing blocking. Should I need a care home to spend the rest of my life, it will be Tollesby Hall Care Home. Well done to the manager and all staff.

A really bad choice and decision to move mam here. From the start, some manager's attitudes to us and Mam were shocking to say the least. Many concerns were raised to the uninterested home manager. Mam was denied her own bank card for 5 weeks until I involved Dols. She was always left in bed often missing meals. They sometimes forgot to feed her or just left her asleep. I have photos of some food disgraceful! Mam relied on us to provide meals and food. They said she was too frail to go on the toilet so she was told to just use her pad in her bed how degrading. When we asked for a jug of water we were told to use the sink in her room, often dirty as they used it for her personal care. The door of the corridor was kept locked and I was frequently isolated on the floor with no staff supervision for residents in bed. To leave the unit I had to use my phone to be let out. Some staff were really good but some were not and Mam was often unkempt. We moved Mam to another care home!

This was a financial driven complaint. The resident was perfectly happy at the care home and did not want to move.

5*! This review was written after the death of my father in October of 2023. At the age of 94, my father had spent two years in Tollesby Hall. Lucid until almost the end he had little but praise for the staff and the care that he was given. That there were no recriminations for his continual bowel and urinary problems, an ongoing situation that embarrassed him. I visited regularly several times a week and got to know the staff well and I had the impression that there was a devoted attitude as well as respect for those in their care, and a real interest in who the residents are. As my father became more frail, the caring was simply amplified. Each administration of medical intervention was clearly stated to my father as well as myself, allowing him to make his choices known and, taken into full account.

My sister was permitted to spend the night in his room as the final days arrived and there was nothing but sympathy and help as residential care became nursing care and finally palliative care.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a heartfelt and detailed 5-star review. We are deeply touched by your words, especially during what we know must be a challenging time following the loss of your father.

Tollesby Hall was recommended as a place where my relative would receive the best of care as he coped with his progressive MND. The staff cared for his numerous physical and psychological needs with skill and sensitivity. He particularly appreciated the interaction between residents and staff and amongst the residents themselves. The home maintains the highest standards of hygiene, diet and domestic care. Staff were welcoming to me when visiting and responsive to any needs or concerns. I wholeheartedly recommend Tollesby Hall as a fine nursing home.

As a member of a Christian voluntary network and a minister of the Eucharist in the Catholic Church I have visited parishioners at various stages in life in a number of care homes in our area.
The staff are caring and efficient. The end-of-life care is exceptional with nothing too much trouble either for the resident or the visitors.
The residents are treated with dignity and a smile at all times and I have never arrived to find someone left in need unattended.
The new decor is bright and cheerful in the nursing rooms I have mainly visited in my roles.
When visiting someone for the first time we were greeted by the manager and taken to the room, given the lift for my elderly husband.

If I or a relative needed care this is the home I would try to go to.

My father lived in this care home for nearly three years until he passed away in February. Overall, we were happy with his care and felt the staff looked after him well. We would question whether the communication with us could have been better at times. Although a number of the staff were clearly upset when he died, we were very disappointed no one from the care home (staff) attended his funeral.

My mum had spent several months in hospital, bed bound, after suffering a stroke. Mum was diagnosed with lung cancer whilst in hospital so alternative specialist care was required and Tollesby Hall was recommended. All of the staff were incredible to both Mum and the family, nothing was too much. The level of care was exceptional. Mum sadly passed away in the early hours 02/11/22. The family are extremely grateful to all of the staff at Tollesby Hall for everything that they did for Mum in her final months. We as a family would definitely recommend Tollesby Hall to any family seeking specialist care for a loved one.

My mum was discharged to Tollesby Hall Care Home from the hospital for a period of recuperation following a fall. The staff were excellent and took great care of her and were genuinely sorry to see her leave after recovering well enough to return home. They were always on hand to answer any questions we had and we were very happy with the care she received.

13 months spent with Alzheimer's. Very quick decline over six days. The staff were so good, not just to my husband but also to myself - a 79-year-old with my own health problems, as I stayed 24/7 I was given a room with food and drink at all times. 26th October at 8.28, my husband passed. The nurse let them down, did not speak. Took my daughter's word. Stood in doorway. Said OK. Never met her before. So sad for us and the home.

The staff have been amazing in supporting my family after my sister contracted cancer, they were calm, friendly and very sympathetic during her final few weeks.

Apart from the expected daily care, the Tollesby team helped personalise my sister’s room, took their time to make her as comfortable as possible, made her laugh and smile as well as kept us informed on a daily basis. I can’t recommend this extremely caring home and the team highly enough. Highly recommended!

My mum was in Tollesby Hall Care Home for only a few days after being in hospital for 8 weeks, we were looking forward to getting her into the care home and out of hospital and we couldn't have picked a better place, the staff in there were amazing so caring and nothing seemed too much trouble, Mum passed away after only being in the home three days but we know she received the best care she could have had. Thank you to all of the lovely people that cared for her and made us feel so welcome as well.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Tollesby Hall care home, who have taken care of our mam, a complex care resident, with patience, professionalism and above all, kindness over the last year. Cleaners, carers, and admin staff have all gone out of their way to make Mam feel cared for and valued. Also, the nursing staff have been exemplary in everything they do.

My beloved Mum went into Tollesby Hall for the last three weeks of her life. During that time, she received the highest level of nursing care, consideration and respect from all of the staff that make up the wonderful and dedicated team. From my initial visit to Tollesby Hall, I could feel the difference from the other homes I had seen. All of the residents were very clean and well presented and seemed happy. The only smell was of mild cleaning fluids, the home was nice and warm, but not stuffy as the windows were all slightly open. As well as the caring element, the office staff were on top of the paperwork, giving confidence that the home is well run and organised. The nurses were always available to answer questions and explain things clearly so non-medical people can understand. Thank you all so much.

Unfortunately, my mum only spent ten days in Tollesby Hall before ending her days in hospital, but she settled really quickly and was happy there. She liked to watch the activity outside her room and loved the friendly staff. I was confident she was well looked after and cared for by the professional, supportive and caring staff. She also loved her pretty, spacious room.

My father was sent here for respite after spending several weeks in rehab due to his mobility.
Staff sounded very friendly on the phone, asked about family life, dad's needs, etc. The main thing for me was his diet due to renal failure and being diabetic.

I asked if I could visit Dad when he arrived so I knew he was happy and settled and he had everything he needed close by due to his mobility. I was told I would need to take a lateral flow test which would take half an hour for the results and then I could have an hour with Dad. I was happy with that and they seemed accommodating. I said I would arrive early evening. When I arrived the member of staff went for a test, she was about ten minutes. Then another member of staff came and said I couldn’t see him, I said it was all arranged, etc… but no. This to me was a safeguarding concern! They ended up bringing dad down to see me, he looked dreadful. I brought dad home that night. The food they gave would have fed a 5-year-old.

My mother was admitted to Tollesby Hall, following a brief stay in hospital. She received end-of-life care after enduring four years of symptomatic treatment for cancer. The staff at Tollesby Hall were, at all times, caring and professional. My mother was gravely ill and she passed away at peace and in no pain. It was a great relief to me to know that she was so well looked after by the genuinely kind staff.

Ginita DedmanJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2021

My name is Ginita, I am married with three children and 10 grandchildren. I started my care journey as a carer in a small home of 10 residents with learning disabilities for twelve years before deciding to become a nurse. I studied at Teesside University at the age of 42 and qualified as an adult nurse in 2017 with a first-class with honours.

I started my nursing career in James Cook Hospital, but knew that my passion was within the community. I have worked in care homes since 2018 and have enjoyed my journey since, learning new skills and mentoring newly qualified nurses.

I started at Tollesby Hall in January 2021, and I have progressed from nurse to lead nurse, then to clinical lead. I was then promoted to Care Home Manager in August 2025.

I am passionate about nursing and like to feel I make a difference to residents' and families lives.
