I called in to speak with the home manager without making an appointment as my mam was in the hospital; end of life, and I really need her close to me. The home is just around the corner from where I live, and any problems, I could get there straight away. The overall standard of care was excellent
care and support to mam and her family. Soon after mam was admitted, on Mothers Day, the home sadly was on lockdown and the only end of life care had visitors. The home was cleaned to the highest standards, well done. Food always on offer, though mam was eating very much. Sadly on the 16.4.20 mam passed away peacefully.
Just want to say thank you to all the team, everyone works very hard.

When my grandma was first taken into a care home setting, I was really worried about how she was going to cope as she’s always been able to do things in her own home and for herself up in till her stroke. Going into Holly Hill has really changed my mind on her being there; the staff are all so lovely,
so caring and my grandma loves them all. This year has been extra hard with care homes closing and not been able to see loved ones, but they have gone out their way to let all my family do Facetime with her even when we don’t live together, meaning more than one call. I also cannot thank them enough for how they have helped my grandma over this last few weeks when losing my mam (her daughter) and keeping my grandma going and been able to get her to the funeral. I’ll be forever grateful to them for bringing her. Yous are all amazing.

Hollie Hill is comfortable, clean and well-run. I am told by my mum that the food is good and she always clears her plate. The garden is large and well-kept and has a very happy feel to it.
The rooms can be decorated and furnished by the resident’s family if desired and can accommodate a single bed,
double wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside table and two chairs without feeling cramped. The ensuite washroom is basic but has plenty of space for a cabinet, shelf and all the necessities to be clean and comfortable.
There are bright and cosy residents’ lounges and plenty of activities for residents to take part in if they want to.
For me, though, the outstanding feature of Hollie Hill is the staff. They are always there with a friendly smile and a kind word, even when they are obviously busy. I know from mam’s comments and from meeting the staff on visits that they really do care about the people they look after and are also quietly (ish) professional. Real stars!

If and when the time comes for you or a family member I would recommend Hollie Hill Care Home massively. My grandad sadly had a stroke and was moved to Hollie Hill after hospital. I, like most, was a bit sceptical at first and did not like the fact my grandad was not in his own home. However, due to
a few slack months at work, I spent nearly as much time in the home as my grandad, haha. I found all the staff very lovely and gentle and would even consider a few of them as friends. Sadly my grandad is no longer with us, but I've got to say thank you all so much for the love and care you gave to my grandad. I am forever grateful. I can't recommend enough!

During this pandemic, I, like many others have been worried about not seeing our loved ones. The staff at Hollie Hill have been exceptional at keeping us informed and in touch. Mam has settled in really well. After only one week as a resident, the carers went the whole way to throwing her a 90th birthday
celebration. Now they keep a smile on their face and carry on with the wonderful job of caring for our loved ones. This also includes manager, admin, nurses, cleaners, cooks and handypersons. A big shout out to you all.

My mam and auntie both live in Hollie Hill and are both well cared for. The staff are lovely and try their best to keep the residents in touch with their families. I live 300 miles away and try to ring and send cards to my mam. The staff are always pleasant on the phone and the residents seem very happy
here.

My dad always received the most outstanding love and care here. Lockdown made it so impossible for us to visit, yet the manager did everything possible to keep us up to date with how Dad was doing with video calls, photos and regular communication. We could not have been more grateful for the care,
love and for all the staff who always went over and beyond and held Dad's hand in his final days/hours as I sadly couldn’t due to this virus! Hollie Hill is an amazing Home and is full of amazing staff who were so caring and kind to my beloved Dad. I would highly recommend this care home.

My mother was a resident for 5 months and was cared for at the highest level. She was treated with respect and dignity and the family could never find the words to express our gratitude to the manager and staff, whom always ensured my mother's every need was met.

My sister-in-law was in here a couple of months as she had tumours and needed nursing care. We as a family can't fault the care and the politeness and cleanliness of the care home. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and visitors are always made welcome. The rooms are warm, cosy and the furniture
is all in excellent condition. The manager had everything in good order and the nurses were excellent with my sister-in-law making her laugh at every opportunity and we are really impressed. The carers were very friendly and again excellent with the patients, we would thoroughly recommend this care home for care and compassion that all staff give. Thank you all for your patience and compassion looking after her.

Having had no previous experience of care homes, I did not know what to expect. I need not have worried. The staff at Hollie Hill are extremely courteous, friendly and professional. Nothing is too much trouble and they do their best to make residents feel valued and at home.
I had heard good reviews
of this place in the days leading up to admission, and they were right.
The staff are excellent and the meals/ snacks provided are of a very high standard.
The new Activity Centre will be a boost to the residents as will the new sensory garden.
One suggestion could be that the activities agenda is stuck onto the residents' bathroom door at the start of each week as many don't see the notice board and may miss out on what is going on. It would be a shame for those who are able to attend to miss out on the day's events.

I would like to thank the staff at Hollie Hill for the end of life care that was given to my Nanna. She was here for the last 2 weeks of her life and I am so pleased I found such a warm, friendly place for her to see out her last days.
All the staff were fantastic so thank you from the bottom of my
heart to all of you.
I visited 5 care homes in the area, and from the minute I walked in, I knew that was the right place, so friendly, caring and compassionate. Nanna enjoyed activities, conversation and thoughtful consideration by the staff and residents.
If you are looking for this for your family member, do not hesitate.

My grandma has been very physically, mentally and emotionally unwell, however, it has been really upsetting to see her so distressed but my dad and I couldn't ask for more from the staff and the home in general.
The staff have been so friendly, approachable, nurturing and compassionate.

such a relief to know how well she is being cared for and it has given us all peace of mind.

I visit Hollie Hill regularly to take a service with some of the residents. Staff always seem to be caring and cheerful, very pleasant with the residents, who appear to be happy and content. I am always made to feel welcome. The home is clean and tidy.

My Mam spent the last three weeks of her life in Hollie Hill and from the minute we took her in, we were so pleased. The staff were wonderful, not only caring for Mam's needs but they were very aware of our emotional needs. Thank you so much.

The care home is warm and friendly. All staff are kind and courteous and are always willing to help.
Rooms are clean and tidy and have all that is needed. Anything you do need, staff and management do their very best to accommodate.

I find this care home to be one of the best in the area. Nothing is any trouble to any of the carers. They are very friendly and always eager to help. Mum has settled in very well and gets along with all of the staff - always some sort of activities going on during the week for residents to join in.
Would recommend this home to anyone.

My mother was placed on palliative care after a long battle and a stroke. She was only at Hollie Hill for seven weeks before she, unfortunately, passed away. During that 7 weeks, the staff have been amazing to my mother and the whole family. They couldn’t have done any more for any of us and treated
my mam like she was part of their own family.


Every staff member in the home gave love, support and hugs when needed. Her care was second to none. Without them, we would have never managed this. They made a hard experience so much easier. There are no words to show our gratitude and we want to say a huge thank you to all involved in my mams care.

  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
