Hollie Hill Care Home is located in Stanley in County Durham. This purpose built care home provides residential, nursing and dementia care for the frail elderly and for those requiring dementia care and support. The home also offers short stays or respite care for those looking for a short break.

Hollie Hill Care Home is the best care home I've visited. The staff are very friendly and are most competent in what they do from cleaning, cooking, caring and nursing. In the 7 years I've been coming here, I've never once needed to complain about anything or anyone. Full marks all round!

My sisters care and health has been totally looked after this month. She was taken to hospital and the staff kept in contact with me about her health all the time she was in. Couldn't thank them enough.

The staff are very caring and attentive. They always have time to talk about Mam. They treat all residents as though they were family, the home has a very family feel to it. Very warm and welcoming.

My mother has come here for rehabilitation on an Intermediate Care Scheme.
It has a warm, caring atmosphere. All the staff are devoted to their residents and committed to doing the best job possible. The food is homemade, plentiful and it looks absolutely delicious.
Staff treat my mum like a regular
resident. They are kind and patient with me to in spite of my anxieties about my mum.

My mother was cared for from 25/7/18 to 5/8/18. During that time the staff have been wonderful and so caring and considerate to her (and all of her family). She has been treated with dignity and respect and lots of humour which I feel is so important. Her last days with you were special and we appreciate
that so much.

My mother went into Hollie Hill Care Home end of October. I cannot fault this home at all, staff lovely, very friendly. My mam has settled in better than I imagined. Very helpful staff in every way possible.

Celebration of my friends 100th birthday, what a party, absolutely brilliant! Thanks to all concerned, music, dancing, children from local primary school and a lovely spread of food afterwards with tables, beautifully presented. A wonderful birthday for my friend.

My mother-in-law had been in and out of hospital three times when it was evident she couldn't manage on her own at home. Going into the home to give her time to recover from the operation was fantastic she had time support and meals provided which meant she recovered. Now she is ably living in her own
home.

This care home is outstanding warm and welcoming. Staff have a great understanding of visitors feelings as well as residents. One lady has bee outstanding helping and welcoming my dad to this care home reassuring him and caring for him. The manager explained and took the time to talk to me and reassuring

My sister has been a self-funding resident in the EMI ward of Hollie Hill since 24/04/2008 with advanced Alzheimer's Disease. The EMI ward is on the ground floor with access to a secure garden. Residents are normally washed and dressed for meals and helped with feeding where necessary. They are encouraged
to walk when able. The bed in my sister's room has an 'active' mattress to reduce the risk of bed sores. Medical attention appears to be prompt and I have been advised whenever this has been necessary. Trips out for residents have always been a few compared with claims from other homes but now my sister would be unable to participate. Staff spend some individual time talking to residents though recently effort appeared reduced due to increase in monitoring paperwork. The home is clean and has had modifications and bright redecoration at least once during our involvement.

Staff are extremely friendly, caring and professional. I know that my mother will be looked after without fear of her being rushed into A&E at the first problem. I feel totally satisfied and reassured that I can leave her to go on holiday and more importantly she feels safe and very happy. The staff
have gone the extra mile to help her settle in for which I am totally grateful.

Mam was a resident for 9 weeks until her death. During that time she received excellent care, all the staff treated her with true kindness and dignity. On the day she arrived a carer said 'this is your mam's home for a while and it is also yours, help yourselves to tea/coffee etc'.


The home itself

has a lovely calm welcoming atmosphere and there was always someone available to answer our questions and guide us through this very sad time. I'll never forget when mam had a hospital appointment; they got her ready, did her hair, she looked a million dollars, and after getting back later we were exhausted, a lovely lady arrived with a tray of tea and cake.
Hollie Hill should be proud of their amazing dedicated staff. Thank you.

My grandmother was admitted for end of life care. The carers and staff treated her with dignity and respect, making her as comfortable as she could be in her final days. They also made us as a family very welcome and showed us compassion.
