My mother-in-law had been in and out of hospital three times when it was evident she couldn't manage on her own at home. Going into the home to give her time to recover from the operation was fantastic she had time support and meals provided which meant she recovered. Now she is ably living in her own home.

My sister has been a self-funding resident in the EMI ward of Hollie Hill since 24/04/2008 with advanced Alzheimer's Disease. The EMI ward is on the ground floor with access to a secure garden. Residents are normally washed and dressed for meals and helped with feeding where necessary. They are encouraged to walk when able. The bed in my sister's room has an 'active' mattress to reduce the risk of bed sores. Medical attention appears to be prompt and I have been advised whenever this has been necessary. Trips out for residents have always been a few compared with claims from other homes but now my sister would be unable to participate. Staff spend some individual time talking to residents though recently effort appeared reduced due to increase in monitoring paperwork. The home is clean and has had modifications and bright redecoration at least once during our involvement.

Staff are extremely friendly, caring and professional. I know that my mother will be looked after without fear of her being rushed into A&E at the first problem. I feel totally satisfied and reassured that I can leave her to go on holiday and more importantly she feels safe and very happy. The staff have gone the extra mile to help her settle in for which I am totally grateful.

Review from Stanely M (Daughter of Resident) published on 18 May 2016 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Mam was a resident for 9 weeks until her death. During that time she received excellent care, all the staff treated her with true kindness and dignity. On the day she arrived a carer said 'this is your mam's home for a while and it is also yours, help yourselves to tea/coffee etc'.

The home itself has a lovely calm welcoming atmosphere and there was always someone available to answer our questions and guide us through this very sad time. I'll never forget when mam had a hospital appointment; they got her ready, did her hair, she looked a million dollars, and after getting back later we were exhausted, a lovely lady arrived with a tray of tea and cake.

Hollie Hill should be proud of their amazing dedicated staff. Thank you.

My grandmother was admitted for end of life care. The carers and staff treated her with dignity and respect, making her as comfortable as she could be in her final days. They also made us as a family very welcome and showed us compassion.
