Located in Blackhall Colliery, a former mining village on the North Sea coast of County Durham close to Peterlee and Horden, Yohden Care Complex is located on Hesleden Road between Castle Eden and Hartlepool.

Yohden Care Complex is a versatile care facility divided into three units offering specialist care. Nursing care is offered at Yohden Hall; Yohden Lodge provides dementia nursing and residential care and Yohden Court accommodates residents with learning difficulties. Respite stays and day care are also available.

The entrance for Yohden Lodge is located at the back of the building in a purpose-built extension. The Lodge has 27ensuite bedrooms including a palliative suite, sensory room, dining room, lounge and conservatory. The decor in the Lodge is dementia friendly with lots of stimulating walls and imagery.

Yohden Court is located in the main building and is a 10 bedded unit with ensuite facilities, an activities room, lounge and dining room.

Yohden Hall is also located in the main building with 36 bedrooms, reception area, extensive lounge for relaxation and activities, hair dressers, dining room and patio.

The care complex boasts a variety of features and facilities, including a hairdressing salon and an on-site bar. Residents can take advantage of extensive outdoor areas including secure gardens, a vegetable patch, and a large conservatory and patio area.

They believe food is an important aspect of the care at Yohden Care Complex and have a 5 star food hygiene rating. All cakes and baked goods are made in their onsite kitchens along with cooked breakfast, choice of lunch and dinner aswell as a hospitality trolley throughout the day.

There is ample car parking at the home for visitors and the closest bus stop from the home is located at the Hardwick Hotel on Middle Street which is a 0.5 mile stroll to the home which is visited by the 23, 24 Sapphire, 55 and 206 IndiGo bus.

My wife has been in Yohden Hall Care Complex for the last 5 and a half years, overall her care and needs have been met. Excellent, I cannot speak more highly of the staff looking after her.
The only criticism I have is used to see very little of the previous manager on the upstairs unit. I would hope
to see more of the new managers on the upstairs unit.

My dad has been in Yohden Hall for 4 and a half years now and has always been very independent. However, he recently became very poorly but thanks to the staff in Yohden Hall, especially to one member of staff in particular, who personally went above and beyond to ensure with the care he provided, that
dad has been able to keep his dignity. This young man ensured the correct diagnosis was made and ensured Dad's care was second to none. This young man is a credit to the profession and to the company he works for. All staff members are excellent with the care they provide but he has stood out in the way he personally took it upon himself to not only care for Dad, but to keep us as a family up to date, especially due to current situation when we have window visits only.

Friendly, caring environment. Very welcoming and accommodating to my auntie's needs. My auntie loves living here and has adjusted well.
The staff are excellent and nothing puts them out. When my auntie moved in, the whole room was painted and they arranged for her new furniture (bought privately)
to be built.

Since my son was admitted to this care home a week on Thursday, I have found the management, all the nursing staff and also the kitchen staff are excellent and most considerate to everyone who visits the home and I would recommend it anyone who needed 24-hour care.

Since moving my nana from her previous home to here at Yohden, we have seen an amazing difference. Her needs are met by all the staff and they involve her in numerous activities to keep her happy and entertained. I love coming to see my nana here as I know I will be greeted with a smile and lots of

The home is usually clean, tidy and welcoming. Residents seem to be well looked after. Communications by telephone to home can be sometimes difficult, not picking up. To anyone not used to a care home, the smell of urine is quite strong sometimes, air fresheners may be helpful. Inadequate private areas

Mum has blossomed since coming into this care home. The level of care and attention to detail is second to none. The entertainment team are fantastic, always encouraging and including my mum in all activities. The ladies go above and beyond to ensure my mum is happy and settled.

I was pleased to see my brother was in good spirits and had a good appetite. All the staff were friendly and helpful as they always are. The atmosphere is always friendly with plenty of social interaction between the residents. A very happy visit.
