Located in Blackhall Colliery, a former mining village on the North Sea coast of County Durham close to Peterlee and Horden, Yohden Care Complex is located on Hesleden Road between Castle Eden and Hartlepool.

Yohden Care Complex is a versatile care facility divided into three units offering specialist care. Nursing care is offered at Yohden Hall; Yohden Lodge provides dementia nursing and residential care and Yohden Court accommodates residents with learning difficulties. Respite stays and day care are also available.

The entrance for Yohden Lodge is located at the back of the building in a purpose-built extension. The Lodge has 27ensuite bedrooms including a palliative suite, sensory room, dining room, lounge and conservatory. The decor in the Lodge is dementia friendly with lots of stimulating walls and imagery.

Yohden Court is located in the main building and is a 10 bedded unit with ensuite facilities, an activities room, lounge and dining room.

Yohden Hall is also located in the main building with 36 bedrooms, reception area, extensive lounge for relaxation and activities, hair dressers, dining room and patio.

The care complex boasts a variety of features and facilities, including a hairdressing salon and an on-site bar. Residents can take advantage of extensive outdoor areas including secure gardens, a vegetable patch, and a large conservatory and patio area.

They believe food is an important aspect of the care at Yohden Care Complex and have a 5 star food hygiene rating. All cakes and baked goods are made in their onsite kitchens along with cooked breakfast, choice of lunch and dinner aswell as a hospitality trolley throughout the day.

There is ample car parking at the home for visitors and the closest bus stop from the home is located at the Hardwick Hotel on Middle Street which is a 0.5 mile stroll to the home which is visited by the 23, 24 Sapphire, 55 and 206 IndiGo bus.

As a friend of one of your residents i have noticed that my friend is being well cared for and is treated with respect and dignity- there is a wide variety of food available and regular refreshments! The reception staff are always cheerful and helpful- there are activities available if you want to

I know my husband is well cared for. That means a lot of pressure is taken off me. All staff are so caring and helpful. All my husbands needs are catered for he is always neat and tidy when I visit. There is one member of staff who I think goes the extra mile. She has a really bubbly personality.

Dad has been here just over a year and we cannot find fault with the care my dad has received in that time. Staff, food, care, cleanliness. He is 96 and with that age come plenty of problems, but they get through it with plenty of smiles. Many thanks to all concerned.

Care home is very clean and does not smell. Security is good - you sign in and out. All staff are friendly and efficient and very approachable. Plenty of activities ongoing, garden areas well maintained.
Management will address any concerns promptly. Rooms are bright and clean.
Serve lovely meals
and plenty of choice.
Maintenance staff act quickly to do jobs required.

From what I have seen I am very happy that Dad can be cared for in this home. The staff seem genuinely caring and seem valued by managers for what they do. The staffing levels seem to meet the requirements of residents well.

My brother has only been living in your care a short while he is so happy, the staff and management are so friendly, kind and willing to help in any way they can, nothing is a problem. When I visit my brother I feel so happy to see him talking to staff and residents, the staff have so much respect for

I cannot thank everyone enough for the care, kindness, understanding, encouragement, support and wonderful friendly rapport during my lengthy stay for recuperation in Yohden Hall. Although invited, I did not take part in any of the recreational activities.
My only slightly negative comment would be
about the electric bed which was not suited to my height. I frequently slid down the bed, resting in the hollow in the centre of the bed mattress, resulting in my feet pressing against the foot panel. I have not commented on the value for money as all has been funded by the NHS and social services.

The staff at Yohden Hall were excellent in all manner of taking care of my brother and also looking after us on our visits. They all work together as a team and excel in the duties of care towards all their patients. My brother really enjoyed being in Yohden Hall and made many friends with a lot of

The home overall is a pleasant friendly place to visit. Entertainment staff try to meet the needs of the clients. My gran has a lovely room with a view which she often sits and watched the comings and goings of the home. Staff are always welcoming and friendly when visiting, The only thing I would say
is there seems to be a lack of staff in a lot of different places which I think is so sad as clients would benefit from constant familiar faces to gain a rapport and trust.

Lovely, pleasant care home. Always a nice welcome when I visit my gran. Always seems to be plenty of activities on downstairs for residents. If I had to say something negative it would be that there doesn't seem to be enough staff at times.
