My father in law was in Willow Green for the last few weeks of his life and I can't express how happy we were with his care. The staff were patient, kind, gentle and kept his spirits up when he was down. They were also amazing with our whole family, they were supportive and kind and were especially caring with my mother in law. We have been very happy with the care Mum has received while in Willow Green. All the staff have been much more proactive in recognising and resolving her needs and have always liaised with myself and my brother, keeping us updated with any issues or changes. Mum has been very settled while in Willow Green which is very reassuring to us given her dementia.

Dad arrived facing the end of his terminal illness. The staff were warm, welcoming and efficient. We were made to feel welcome at any time for as long as we liked. We camped out for the next 4 days. The tenderness and care shown to Dad was moving. We were given enough warning to get there at the end to say goodbye. The staff gave us space and were gentle and informative about the next steps. The care was exemplary at every level. That has helped us tremendously at a difficult time. We will never forget what the staff at Willow Green did for us.

I can't speak highly enough of the outstanding care my mother and father have received at Willow Green. From the moment they became residents, the staff has shown incredible compassion and attentiveness, consistently ensuring their comfort and well-being. They truly go above and beyond, always taking time to understand and accommodate my parents' individual needs with warmth and kindness. It's evident that the team genuinely cares about each resident. They are not only professional and skilled but also have a gentle and empathetic approach, which has made a world of difference for my mum and dad. I have peace of mind knowing they are in such good hands. Thank you to everyone at Willow Green for making this transition as smooth and supportive as possible.

My dad has lived at Willow Green for 6 months following a severe stroke. Current care staff including agency staff support Dad's daily needs very well and carry out recommendations by therapy professionals as often as they can. They are kind, and competent and always make time for Dad. The qualified nursing staff work really hard both with support and respond to Dad's needs as required. The managers quickly resolve any issues that need attention. Dad mostly enjoys the meals on offer and the chefs are approachable regarding modifications. Laundry is generally returned quickly and staff are approachable and friendly. The home is clean, pleasant and generally well-maintained.

They have gone above and beyond to accommodate her specific needs including a carefully risk-assessed allowance for her timid, ageing little dog to be with her. They are warm, encouraging and respectful and we're delighted with the care she is receiving. Thank you, to the manager and all the staff for being so amazing!
Thank you for your kind review, we are so pleased your auntie is happy at Willow Green and enjoys the fun, banter and support from the team. We are glad your auntie is eating regularly and enjoying the quality of the meals and choice of foods.
My mother was in Willow Green for only a few weeks but she received excellent care throughout, all the staff were friendly and helpful and made a hard time much more bearable, I would not hesitate to recommend this home.

Drinks left constantly out of his reach.
No activities I am aware of for him.
Lost a lot of weight, we had to bring in extra food because he lost so much weight from the tiny weeny portions he was served. A couple of the carers were lovely but understaffed massively.
Clothes constantly lost despite being labelled. Sadly he passed away just a week after getting out of there.
We are saddened to receive this review on several levels. We always do our best to engage with family members and build lasting relationships with them as we consider it a privilege to care for their loved ones. However, despite our best efforts the family continually failed to reciprocate and,...
After a lengthy and difficult period of illness, my mum was admitted to Willow Green on our choice. After a very informative and reassuring discussion with the manager and his team, we were assured that they could meet my mum's needs. Over the weeks whilst she was there the team worked tirelessly and effortlessly to make my mum as comfortable and supported as they could. On our visits the staff were always welcoming and very pleasant, accommodating our requests and needs with no problem. My mam passed away whilst in their care and the team was excellent in ensuring her passing was comfortable, dignified and painless. The nursing team were exceptional in reacting to the situation and keeping the family informed and reassured. It is very difficult to choose the right provision for your loved one and for us, this was absolutely the correct place to meet my mum's needs. I would highly recommend the Willow Green Care Home on what we experienced whilst my mum was in their care. Thank you.

Our son was lovingly cared for from March 2023 until he died in February 2024. Willow Green's staff went from strength to strength in the standard of care he received during this time. In partnership with the Community Matron, Palliative care consultant and GPs the care became exemplary. Everyone from the managers and admin staff, nurses, personal carers, cleaners, laundry and kitchen staff played a part in making his life as cheerful as it could be. My husband and I are truly thankful to everyone at Willow Green.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff of Willow Green Care Home Darlington for the loving and caring way they looked after my beloved husband. They showed the utmost dignity and respect towards him whilst also being so kind and caring. They embraced him and me into their family and nothing was too much trouble for them. I really felt as though we were part of the family and I especially was given a lot of loving and caring support. My husband passed on the 17th of January 2023 at Willow Green and I felt so fortunate that fate had brought us to this wonderful home. My family and I can't thank the staff enough for the caring, dignified and professional way they looked after him and helping and supporting us through this sad time.
This care home has improved so much since new management has come in. My mum is happy and as a family member, I feel very welcome. Improvements are being made all of the time. Highly recommend this home to your loved ones.
From the day I went to view the home and spoke to the manager, to today when my dad sadly passed away peacefully, the care has been five-star.
The staff have been so friendly and helpful from day one, always having time for a chat. I know my dad was in the best possible place.
Thank you so much to everyone involved in my dad's care. I will be forever grateful.
The dignity and privacy we were given as a family to spend those precious moments together helped enormously at a difficult and emotional time.
They guided us through every step, allowing us the time and space afterwards to process our loss, bringing drinks and biscuits to the living room so we could just 'be'.

Meet the Team (2)

Tom has worked within various elements of health/social care and adult social care over the past 20 years. He has considerable experience with Learning disabilities within treatment and assessments hospitals, mental health, domiciliary care and elderly care. Prior to this Tom worked within secure units for young offenders. Like many, Tom "fell into the care sector" as a career when he left the military. He was at a crossroads, not knowing what he should do next when he was offered a position within children’s services. From there he hasn't looked back, working in many roles and differing environments. Tom has continually developed new skills for each role and has always been able to bring that "something else", sharing the knowledge that he has developed along his career journey. When asked about his passion for care, Tom Says, "working within care is what I do, I can't imagine myself doing anything else. The friendships and bonds that we build with the individuals we care for are fantastic and the rewards are seeing someone thrive, witnessing someone recover from illness and being able to return home or just sharing a moment and seeing someone smile." Tom has worked for St Martins Care since April 2020, which Tom says has been great. "I’ve found that we all share the same vision which is the provision of outstanding care, this isn’t just a management ethos but the belief of all staff from the ground up. We believe that we do indeed provide excellent care but there is always room for improvement, our goal is to provide care which is perfect person-centred to each individual, care where we have full involvement of that person but care that includes families and friends and the local communities."

Kirsty began her career at North Park residential care home in 2008 and had no care experience prior to that. Her first role was as a Care Assistant within North Park looking after both general residential and dementia residents. She was supported to gain relevant qualifications and soon after was promoted to Senior Care Assistant. In 2019, Kirsty applied for and was promoted to a lead senior role and by 2020 became Deputy Manager. In 2021, Kirsty decided she needed more experience to develop her career and joined Willow Green and St Martins Care as a Senior Care Assistant. Kirsty says “I haven’t looked back since joining St Martins Care, I am now the Deputy Manager of Willow Green and I am very grateful for this opportunity. The entire team are fantastic, this includes care staff all the way to senior management. We are just one big team, we all care deeply about the roles we hold and work in partnership with families, friends and outside professionals to ensure we meet the varied needs of our residents. To nurse someone back to health, re-enable someone with mobility and to help people through some of the most trying times, is a privilege. I am very grateful to St Martins Care for this opportunity and look forward to a bright future.”
