Throughout my mother's time at Willow Green Care Home she was treated to the highest standards of care. This sums up my feelings for this care home. From the moment my daughter and I came to see it we knew this was home from home!. Clean as a whistle, staff polite and friendly whatever the time of day and the residents were kept and treated to the best at all times. The standards were off the chart thank you to Willow Green.

Due to management changes that have been experienced over the past months, staff changes and instability caused by these changes the moving of residential care to a new suit has caused great concern for continuity and continuing levels of care provided. There is a now a manager of previous experience at the home recently reinstated who has already created a much more caring homely feeling to the home and all the staff are responding well to the directions and guidance offered giving residents and family peace of mind.

My husband has finally settled after his move to the home in June. Staff provide most of his needs and he has a one to one carer. I find some staff really put themselves out to help you and it's appreciated. He enjoys his meals and snacks.

Due to my husbands head injury he now needs EMI care, it was a hard decision to make but feel happy that he is in Willow Green. The staff on poppy suite are all kind and caring also very supportive to me, as are all the staff. They recently had a summer fair organised which was a great success. They work hard with residents doing activities every day and encouraging them to join in.

Service user briefly used service. Cleanliness and odour could be improved upon entering the home and also service users bedroom. Activities seem to be good. Improvement could be made to staff person-centred care approach.

My Mum moved into Willow Green in September 2011 (only one other resident at same time). The building is modern, very clean and updated when required. Entertainment provided by a dedicated person to cover all resident's tastes. Fundraising for these events are raised in-house. The nursing staff/catering staff/office staff have all changed along with seven managers over this period. Floor staff have long days off and us visitors always crave updates on loved ones.

Willow Green, apart from a very nice title is a very warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff are first class, especially the nurse who I am pleased to say always puts you at ease. The girls, all of them, and my wife's carer, it goes without saying are truly professional, always ready to serve and understand anything that is suggested is listened to. The whole place is as one would expect to be. PS I thought you had to pass away to get to heaven, obviously not!

I follow the St Martins Facebook page and think that it is such a great thing for your staff to do as it is very informative and helps get the word out on upcoming events for the home. I also recently volunteered at the Easter fair which I felt was a wonderful idea as a way to raise money for the residents and was also a fantastic day out overall due to the great staff at this home!

My mum was admitted to Willow Green for end of life care. From the moment we made our first enquiry to the home the staff have been marvellous. The care and dignity shown to my mum was second to none, they ensured that she was comfortable and content at all times. I cannot praise the clinical lead, nurses and care staff enough. They made a point of seeking us out each time we visited, which was daily, on giving us an update on my mum's condition and what food/drink she had taken, together with medication. Any change in her condition/medication was both highlighted and discussed with us.

Also, from the moment my mum was admitted staff all knew who me and my dad had come to see and also kept a check on my dad, who is 88, when I was not there, making sure he was OK.

I found Willow Green to be a lovely home. My daughter and I were greeted by a lovely lady who escorted us to see my mother-in-law as this was our first visit. All the staff that we saw were friendly and courteous. The environment was warm and welcoming. The care manager was lovely who took her time to introduce herself. We both left feeling that my mother-in-law was in a safe place.

Thomas Horn
Thomas HornJob Title:Registered ManagerJoined: 2020

Tom has worked within various elements of health/social care and adult social care over the past 20 years. He has considerable experience with Learning disabilities within treatment and assessments hospitals, mental health, domiciliary care and elderly care. Prior to this Tom worked within secure units for young offenders. Like many, Tom "fell into the care sector" as a career when he left the military. He was at a crossroads, not knowing what he should do next when he was offered a position within children’s services. From there he hasn't looked back, working in many roles and differing environments. Tom has continually developed new skills for each role and has always been able to bring that "something else", sharing the knowledge that he has developed along his career journey. When asked about his passion for care, Tom Says, "working within care is what I do, I can't imagine myself doing anything else. The friendships and bonds that we build with the individuals we care for are fantastic and the rewards are seeing someone thrive, witnessing someone recover from illness and being able to return home or just sharing a moment and seeing someone smile." Tom has worked for St Martins Care since April 2020, which Tom says has been great. "I’ve found that we all share the same vision which is the provision of outstanding care, this isn’t just a management ethos but the belief of all staff from the ground up. We believe that we do indeed provide excellent care but there is always room for improvement, our goal is to provide care which is perfect person-centred to each individual, care where we have full involvement of that person but care that includes families and friends and the local communities."

Kirsty Chapman
Kirsty ChapmanJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2021

Kirsty began her career at North Park residential care home in 2008 and had no care experience prior to that. Her first role was as a Care Assistant within North Park looking after both general residential and dementia residents. She was supported to gain relevant qualifications and soon after was promoted to Senior Care Assistant. In 2019, Kirsty applied for and was promoted to a lead senior role and by 2020 became Deputy Manager. In 2021, Kirsty decided she needed more experience to develop her career and joined Willow Green and St Martins Care as a Senior Care Assistant. Kirsty says “I haven’t looked back since joining St Martins Care, I am now the Deputy Manager of Willow Green and I am very grateful for this opportunity. The entire team are fantastic, this includes care staff all the way to senior management. We are just one big team, we all care deeply about the roles we hold and work in partnership with families, friends and outside professionals to ensure we meet the varied needs of our residents. To nurse someone back to health, re-enable someone with mobility and to help people through some of the most trying times, is a privilege. I am very grateful to St Martins Care for this opportunity and look forward to a bright future.”
