Absolutely amazing staff... go above and beyond for my lovely mum's needs. Nothing is to0 much trouble... my mum is always well presented... we are always informed of any changes regarding medication etc... the nurse in charge on my mum's floor is so lovely... you can see the caring side in her... the residents also love her as they follow her as she is such a lovely person... the manager is also a lovely caring lady... cannot recommend this lovely place enough... l can rest assured my mum is happy, safe and well.
No hand towel in room - ever.
Cold drinks to be in residents' proximity when in their rooms so they can drink when thirsty and not just when it is "time".
Personal presentation is important - tidy, clean clothes, hair combed, shower. People with dementia should be treated with pride and dignity. They rely on carers for this and it should be adhered to. My dad would be mortified if he thought he has been left to walk around in pyjamas, without slippers or dressing gown, or clothes un-ironed and shrunk in the tumble dryer
Thank you for your positive feedback about our colleagues, we will certainly be looking into your other concerns and appreciate all comments that can help improve our homes.
My dad moved into Canterbury House Care Home three months ago and all the staff have been extremely welcoming to him and all the family. The manager has been particularly helpful and reassuring to us as a family and has gone out of her way to ensure my dad is happy and settled.
Thank you for leaving us such a fantastic review - your feedback will be passed on to the Canterbury House care team and manager.
My dad was admitted under emergency care. All the staff have been excellent with my dad as well as ourselves when visiting. The home deputy has been absolutely amazing with her help and advice. Thank you.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our home, your kind words and excellent feedback will be passed on to our team and Deputy Manager.
Very communitive, always help my dad when they can. The understanding and patience they have is very welcoming.
My dad was admitted as an emergency in April 2022. We had been looking at residential homes in Conwy, but circumstances changed, and he had to be moved very quickly. We initially had reservations as the building looks forbidding, and my dad had a nasty fall on his first night there. We had no experience of care homes at all. However, six weeks on, my mum and I are extremely happy with the care he has received. The deputy manager has given lots of her time explaining his condition and how she wants to treat him. The other staff, from carers to orderlies, are helpful and friendly. My dad is occasionally aggressive and difficult, but they still treat him with sympathy and understanding. We are grateful to all for making a difficult process much easier.
Thank you for your honest and positive review. We are glad to hear your dad has settled in and you feel happy and comfortable with him in Canterbury House. Your kind words will be passed to our care team.
The care my father receives is fantastic. As a family, we are really happy with everything.
There is a new activity lady in post and she is making great progress with Dad.
Thank you for your lovely review - we will be passing your kind words on to the Canterbury team.
The staff have been so caring with him and with us as a family.
It’s really frightening putting your loved one into the care of others. I couldn’t ask for a better team to look after my husband. Can't thank them all enough.
God bless all that you do. When any of our family visit you treat us so friendly.
Canterbury House have always shown the utmost respect when dealing with all parties of the family. They keep us well informed and staff are very welcoming.
Very happy with the service that is being provided at this home for my grandmother. She is happy and well looked after, and I have no worries about her whilst she is here. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking to find a care home for their loved ones.
During COVID we have been able to keep in contact via Skype.
I would like to say what a wonderful day we had for St. Valentine's day. From the invitation (which made me very emotional) to the marvellous food and the decorations and presents the whole day really was exceptional. We had a choice of food for the three course meal and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you so much.
My husband has been very well looked after since entering Canterbury House in September 2017. Nothing is too much trouble for the kind and caring staff who treat residents with respect and compassion. Also, my family and me are welcomed each day with warmth and friendliness by everyone - management, nurses, carers, cleaners and kitchen staff. On Valentine's Day, a number of staff had arranged an event for some residents and their partners. The kitchen staff prepared a lovely three-course lunch and other employees had set the tables with a 'Valentine' theme and put lovely little gifts and cards for the ladies. It was really so nice. Well done to everyone concerned.
The staff are hard working, patient, kind and very friendly, often in difficult circumstances that dementia brings.
My husband has been at Canterbury House. First 4 weeks and he has settled very well. The staff are kind and caring to my husband and myself. The manager has been very helpful and caring so up to now I am very pleased and I feel my husband is safe.
My mum has only moved into the home a few weeks, I would like to say how caring all of the staff have been and how Mum looks and seems better in herself as she can be.
I would like to thank all of the staff for looking after her.
I find Canterbury House is really good. Staff very caring. Nothing is too much trouble for the residents. Very friendly, could not wish for a better home for my mother.
We brought our mum up from London she had a six and a half hour trip. When she arrived she had a hot drink and a meal. She has settled in very well and had her hair done as she had let it grow far too long for her, they found a photo in her room and gave it to the hairdresser. It has made her look like the mum we know. The staff have so much time for her and the management have been so supportive.
Dear Richard,
Thank you for your positive feedback. The team at Canterbury appreciate your kind words.
Best Wishes,All at Canterbury
My husband has always bee treated kindly and with respect. He is encouraged to carry out tasks as independently as possible. He has good relationships with carers and the manager. The fact that the new manager speaks Welsh is an added bonus as my husband is a Welsh speaker. My husband enjoys his food. His medical needs are promptly dealt with. There is a hairdresser and podiatrist who visit regularly, a dentist and optician visit and residents can see a GP is required. The cares work hard and have a good rapport with residents.
