My Aunt was admitted into this home after being assessed "at-risk" by the local council and having experienced several falls which hospitalised her and left her immobile. We felt this home to be bright, cheerful, welcoming, and well maintained.

Since Dad has been at Ty Eirin Care Home, he has shown great progress. He has gained weight and looks really, really well. He settled straight away. From the word go, the staff have been amazing. Dad is quite a character and enjoys the company of the staff and fellow residents. I would like (on behalf
of the family) to say a big thank you to all the staff (especially, unit-2).
Reply from Honor Keatley, Managing Director at Ty Eirin Care HomeWhat a lovely review - thank you. It seems like your Dad is doing really well. I look forward to meeting him.

My mother has been a resident for over a year and I have been a regular visitor. The staff at Ty Eirin continue to offer exceptional care, even during this very challenging time, I have nothing but admiration for them. All the staff are friendly and approachable and go the 'extra mile' to provide both
outstanding care and an experience for residents that is as close to a home environment as possible.

Review from Anna N (Sister of Resident) published on 2 March 2020 Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My sister became a resident of Ty Eirin Care Home on June 17th 2016. We were extremely close and I found seeing my sister in a nursing home so deeply upsetting. She had always been full of life - loved her holidays, dancing, she was such a happy loving person. So for me to see the change in her in such
a short time, shopping on the Saturday to being totally confused on the Monday was heartbreaking. But the staff in Ty Eirin and Ty Hapus not only looked after her, treated her with love and dignity but they looked after me also helping me to cope. I would often be in tears but they would always show that they cared and give me a hug. My sister, however, on Oct 19th 2019, was rushed into hospital 999 call. The staff in Ty Eirin had asked if she could go to see a Pantomime but sadly she couldn't breathe. The ambulance arrived and I couldn't believe that although the manager of Ty Hapus turned up at the ambulance to see how my sister was, although she had the day off!
All the staff on Ty Hapus were phoning me to see how she was progressing. Unfortunately, my sister didn't really recover from a massive chest infection and fluid on the lung and was in a semi-coma for 7 weeks.
But during this time the manager of Ty Hapus came to visit her in hospital and give me so much support and reassurance. My sister was then transferred back to the nursing ward in Ty Eirin and they looked after her really well. However, the staff on Ty Hapus would pop down regularly to see how she was and they would always give me a hug and sit with me because they knew it was almost the end for her.
I will never forget the staff on Ty Hapus. They were wonderful to me and my sister without them I would never have coped.
They have done a memorial plaque for her which is so thoughtful. I feel the staff on Ty Hapus deserve recognition for the amazing caring work they do. They go over and above what I am sure they are expected to do. I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
Reply from Honor Keatley, Managing Director at Ty Eirin Care HomeWhat a wonderful review and testament to the importance of having the right support. It is wonderful to read how all the team supported not only your sister but also you through what can be a very traumatic experience. Thank you for sharing this.

Staff are very good. Staff excellent and helpful in caring for mum. She is very pleased they come in and see her regularly and give her comfort/relationship building - mum does not express feelings of being alone. Her health care is monitored very well. Mum says if she ever feels down, the buzzer pressed
and care is there immediately.

Since my mother has been at Ty Eirin I have seen my mother becoming more herself. She is safe, clean, well-fed and clean and maintains her dignity. I always receive a welcome when visiting my mother. It gives me peace of mind that she is safe. I do think that there could be more that my mother could
do but I do understand that there are others to be seen to.

I have been a resident of this home for nearly a year. The care of all the residents is very good and caring. The home is spotlessly clean, the only problem is the quality of the food.
Reply from Honor Keatley, Managing Director at Ty Eirin Care HomeMany thanks for taking the time to write a review. Thank you also for your feedback regarding the food at Ty Eirin. I have spoken to the home and established the reasons why you feel there is an issue with the quality. I appreciate everyone loves home cooking and that can't always be replicated in an environment where there are so many people to cook for but I have asked someone to speak to you to see what can be done.

My mother was a resident in Ty Eirin for nearly two years until she passed away two weeks ago. The care and love that all the staff gave her was unbelievable. This care was given right up until the end. She passed away with dignity.
Not only did they care about her but also me. We stayed for three
days and two nights with her and they all looked after us really well. I spent a lot of time in Ty Eirin with my mother and never once saw the carers shout or be nasty to any of the residents. You hear so much about care homes that I felt I needed to give them my praise. I will still be visiting as I feel that they are all part of my family.
I would recommend Ty Eirin to anybody that is looking for a care home for their loved ones.
Reply from Ronnie Cavanagh, Marketing at Ty Eirin Care HomeThank you Ellen for your kind comments about our Care team. We appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback for Ty Eirin Care Home. We hope that her time at Ty Eirin did see some friendships flourish with both the Care team and residents. Thank you again Ellen, if there is anything more we can do please do not hesitate to reach out.

I just wanted to record my thanks to all of the care team at Ty Eiren for the quality and way that they cared for and looked after my mum who passed away on 25th June. She lived at Ty Eiren for over 2 years and it was a wonderfully caring and supportive environment for both her and for our family, giving
us the assurance that she was in good care and being fantastically well looked after.
In challenging times, it is always worth shouting out loud about the great things that care staff do - day in day out and for what you did for my mum we will be forever grateful.
Many thanks and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ty Eiren to anyone who is faced with the difficult choice of where to place a loved one in need.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.785)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.785) out of 10 for Ty Eirin Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 40 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.785 for Ty Eirin Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (385 Excellents x 5) + (70 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 469 Ratings = 4.785
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ty Eirin Care Home is based on 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18, which has been reached with 40 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
