Ty Eirin is a fabulous home from home environment for all residents. My mum, who suffers with dementia has lived there for more than two years. She is loved, treated as an individual, with respect and dignity. Staff are genuine and caring - from kitchen staff, handymen, activities and care staff - all
know the residents by name and go that extra mile to ensure a great quality of life and care. Ty Eirin is amazing!
Reply from Honor Keatley, Managing Director at Ty Eirin Care HomeWhat a wonderful review. The team will really enjoy reading this. Great to know that you think the Home is amazing!

My mam was admitted to Ty Eirin EMI Nursing Department in January 2020 until she sadly passed away in July 2020 with advanced Alzheimer's. During Mam's short stay I cannot recommend Ty Eirin EMI Nursing Team highly enough. All the team went above and beyond, doing an exceptional job in caring for my
mam and I am extremely grateful for their time and patience and they knew I had my full trust in them all. Would definitely recommend Ty Eirin. The cleanliness as well as all the staff is second to none.
Reply from Honor Keatley, Managing Director at Ty Eirin Care HomeThank you for taking the time to write this review. I am sorry that you lost your mam but I am glad that she had a happy stay at Ty Eirin and that that meant you were had full trust in the team.

Very pleased with the level of residential care at Ty Eirin Care Home. The manager of the unit is very friendly and very approachable as are all the care workers and reception staff. They did a fantastic job setting up the room ready for Dad and have taken real pride in doing so. He is happy and settled
and we are all looking forward to popping in and bring a part of Ty Eirins family when the pandemic is over.
Thank you all for your dedication and hard work.

My mum has been in Ty Eirin since October 2018. The care she receives is excellent and more so since Covid-19. Because I am unable to visit her, which is very hard on me and her, I have regular FaceTime calls to speak to her and see her which has helped. My thanks go out to all staff, cleaners, cooks
etc and of course the caring staff, they are angels. Take care and stay safe.

My mother has dementia. She can't do anything for herself. She is given appropriate food and drink in a kind and compassionate way. All her personal care is attended to timely and carefully. She receives plenty of communication, laughter and friendship. She receives excellent all-round care.

Words cannot express the thanks that I have for the staff in Unit 2 for their continued kindness and professional care that they have given to my mother especially so during this Covid crisis which has been exceptionally challenging for all. The staff are always willing to go the extra mile, for example
providing video links via the telephone for me so see my mother, which has meant such a lot to me. We are kept well informed of any problems etc which is reassuring. They are absolutely wonderful, I'd just like to say thank you very much.

My Aunt was admitted into this home after being assessed "at-risk" by the local council and having experienced several falls which hospitalised her and left her immobile. We felt this home to be bright, cheerful, welcoming, and well maintained.

Since Dad has been at Ty Eirin Care Home, he has shown great progress. He has gained weight and looks really, really well. He settled straight away. From the word go, the staff have been amazing. Dad is quite a character and enjoys the company of the staff and fellow residents. I would like (on behalf
of the family) to say a big thank you to all the staff (especially, unit-2).

Review from Anna N (Sister of Resident) published on 2 March 2020 Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My sister became a resident of Ty Eirin Care Home on June 17th 2016. We were extremely close and I found seeing my sister in a nursing home so deeply upsetting. She had always been full of life - loved her holidays, dancing, she was such a happy loving person. So for me to see the change in her in such
a short time, shopping on the Saturday to being totally confused on the Monday was heartbreaking. But the staff in Ty Eirin and Ty Hapus not only looked after her, treated her with love and dignity but they looked after me also helping me to cope. I would often be in tears but they would always show that they cared and give me a hug. My sister, however, on Oct 19th 2019, was rushed into hospital 999 call. The staff in Ty Eirin had asked if she could go to see a Pantomime but sadly she couldn't breathe. The ambulance arrived and I couldn't believe that although the manager of Ty Hapus turned up at the ambulance to see how my sister was, although she had the day off!
All the staff on Ty Hapus were phoning me to see how she was progressing. Unfortunately, my sister didn't really recover from a massive chest infection and fluid on the lung and was in a semi-coma for 7 weeks.
But during this time the manager of Ty Hapus came to visit her in hospital and give me so much support and reassurance. My sister was then transferred back to the nursing ward in Ty Eirin and they looked after her really well. However, the staff on Ty Hapus would pop down regularly to see how she was and they would always give me a hug and sit with me because they knew it was almost the end for her.
I will never forget the staff on Ty Hapus. They were wonderful to me and my sister without them I would never have coped.
They have done a memorial plaque for her which is so thoughtful. I feel the staff on Ty Hapus deserve recognition for the amazing caring work they do. They go over and above what I am sure they are expected to do. I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
Reply from Honor Keatley, Managing Director at Ty Eirin Care HomeWhat a wonderful review and testament to the importance of having the right support. It is wonderful to read how all the team supported not only your sister but also you through what can be a very traumatic experience. Thank you for sharing this.

Staff are very good. Staff excellent and helpful in caring for mum. She is very pleased they come in and see her regularly and give her comfort/relationship building - mum does not express feelings of being alone. Her health care is monitored very well. Mum says if she ever feels down, the buzzer pressed
and care is there immediately.

Since my mother has been at Ty Eirin I have seen my mother becoming more herself. She is safe, clean, well-fed and clean and maintains her dignity. I always receive a welcome when visiting my mother. It gives me peace of mind that she is safe. I do think that there could be more that my mother could
do but I do understand that there are others to be seen to.

I have been a resident of this home for nearly a year. The care of all the residents is very good and caring. The home is spotlessly clean, the only problem is the quality of the food.
Reply from Honor Keatley, Managing Director at Ty Eirin Care HomeMany thanks for taking the time to write a review. Thank you also for your feedback regarding the food at Ty Eirin. I have spoken to the home and established the reasons why you feel there is an issue with the quality. I appreciate everyone loves home cooking and that can't always be replicated in an environment where there are so many people to cook for but I have asked someone to speak to you to see what can be done.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.840)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.840) out of 10 for Ty Eirin Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.840 for Ty Eirin Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (290 Excellents x 5) + (42 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 338 Ratings = 4.84
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ty Eirin Care Home is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
