Ty Gwynno Care Home offers residential, nursing, dementia and palliative care to up to 46 older people in Pontypridd.

The home is just outside the town centre, with a bus route into the high street where residents can enjoy shops and amenities. It is also half an hour’s drive from Cardiff. The home is in a quiet residential area with stunning views over the surrounding countryside.

Ty Gwynno Care Home is cheerfully decorated throughout its lounge and dining areas and its conservatory. Each bedroom is single and has a television point and WiFi, with a lift to bedrooms on the first floor. There is a large, landscaped garden with a seated patio area.

An activities coordinator organises a weekly timetable of activities, such as exercise classes, music and entertainment, gardening and quizzes.

Residents are involved in planning the menu, with all food being nutritionally balanced and dietary requirements accommodated.

Very happy with the excellent care my mother receives from all the staff. She has been at Ty Gwynno 11-months and settled in very well. She recently celebrated her 92nd birthday, and the staff made her day special even though we are in the middle of Covid. Although all the family miss her very much,
we know she is in safe hands.

Relocating a loved one into long term care from the hospital is an emotionally stressful time even when there isn't a global pandemic but the Ty Gwynno team have done a fabulous job at making this difficult transition as smooth as it possibly could be.
This team actually care and the conversations
we have with my father-in-law are nothing but positive and supportive of their efforts - his needs are far too complex for home caring and yet Ty Gwynno takes everything in their stride, nothing is too much trouble. Like all families, we care about our loved ones in care and we are hypersensitive to any suffering. We selected this facility because of its staff and their approach to residents, probably one of the best decisions we could have made as a family.
They have kept my father-in-law safe and healthy in a very difficult time... of course, they are care home professionals and get paid to be... but this team goes above and beyond - regularly!

The staff does a fantastic job. My father has been there for 3 months. He is very well looked after in all aspects of what's been a difficult time for him adjusting to life in a care home when he's been so active all his life and mentally very sound. He has mentioned 2 carers who look after him so well
while he's been there. Due to his lack of mobility, he likes to spend time in the lovely garden they have there and loves the food. I would highly recommend Ty Gwynno.

My mam spent nearly two years in Ty Gwynno. Even though she died three years ago, I must say what a wonderful bunch of people work there and still do. I befriended a few while my mam was in there and am still friends now. This is my review, and I will always praise them up as they all work so hard and

It’s such a difficult and emotional time looking for nursing homes - I looked at so many before I settled on Ty Gwynno for Dad. From my first visit, I knew this was somewhere where he’d be well looked after and it’s been a year now and I haven’t changed my opinion! There’s always a WARM WELCOME at the
home and prior to COVID we could visit whenever we wished (except mealtimes) and I never felt I was in the way, in fact, things just happen around you. There’s a strong teamwork ethic amongst the staff, everyone seems happy going about their tasks and you often hear laughter and singing and witness great interactions with the residents. Communication is great- I never feel fobbed off and if there are any issues they’ll let you know. There’s a large airy lounge and dining space and a lovely garden for everyone to enjoy. The entertainment and activities are great; always lots to do and Christmas is a blast! You certainly won’t go wrong choosing Ty Gwynno!

The home and staff have been wonderful with mam and she is settling in well. They are also very kind and welcoming to dad when he visits. Dad is very happy with the care, as are my brothers. We are always kept up to date and feel welcome at all times.

Very pleased with the service at Ty Gwynno.
Highly recommend.
My mother-in-law has been here for nearly six years and has been very satisfied with everything for her.

I find the carers are very helpful and there is a good range of activities.
We also have a lovely garden to enjoy.
The food here is very good; I really enjoy all the meals that I have.
My room is very comfortable and very nicely decorated.

My nan was welcomed into the Ty Gwynno family just before Christmas 2019 and has flourished day by day. People talk to her and care about her and want to brighten up every day for her. Through the pandemic, she has been without visits but has not been alone. Staff and residents have gone above and beyond
to make sure they are not only caring for the residents but spending time talking to each and every one of them..dancing with them...playing games...celebrating birthdays and much more. I really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart that my nans Ty Gwynno family is there for her each and every day pandemic or no pandemic she's very lucky to be in a place that values her. Thank you.

My mother was sent here after being released from the hospital and despite the current issues of lockdown, I cannot fault the way she has been treated and the support we have had. A big plus is that we are able to have regular face time calls with her and the staff are so exceptionally helpful. Their
use of social media is also a hidden benefit, as I've been able to share this with family members who can also see her progress.

I am truly happy that we chose Ty Gwynno as my mothers new home. It was the first home I visited and immediately on entering I felt the care and warmth there. From the happy homely decor to the smiling helpful staff. The rooms are lovely and the food looks great. Everyone, there is amazing and always

There are other care homes and there are other caring staff but there is only one Team Ty Gwynno.
The team here show such care and compassion not only to the residents but also to the families and friends visiting them.

I have nothing but praise and admiration for all the staff who have been tremendous in these very difficult times. They keep us informed of how my mother-in-law is, readily listen to my numerous questions since we were unable to visit prior to admission because of lockdown and a transfer straight from
hospital. Sorry about the questions. They treat the residents like family, I cannot praise them too highly. There are numerous activities which is so nice to see. The activities lady is just the best. I had previous experience of care homes and was not looking forward to this journey but must say the experience at Ty Gwynno has completely changed my mind. A big thank you to all and we look forward to meeting one day in the not too distant future. Nothing is too much trouble. Thank you.

The staff at this nursing home are absolutely fantastic, could not praise them enough. During this very difficult time of not being able to see my mum they have been very patient and understanding of my many phone calls and queries. The activities the home provides for residents is astounding, the nurses
are so very helpful and patient. My mum suffers from dementia and the staff deal with her very well and are always open to suggestions and listen to suggestions on how to deal with her care.

Ty Gwynno was recommended to our family by a previous residents’ family, and we will recommend now too.
I was struck by how well the staff knew the residents, the transparency for families, and how each person was made to feel like the home was their own.
I cannot think of anything else that my
grandparent could’ve wanted, especially during the final days. The staff displayed enormous empathy, care, sensitivity and respect.
Nobody wants their relative to go into a home, and they understood our predicament and offered plenty of support. Thank you.

My elderly cousin has been at Ty Gwynno many years. She is well cared for. Staff are supportive and caring, answering my concerns when I have them. My cousin is very happy here, giving us, her remaining family, comfort that she is being looked after. I would recommend a loved one residing here without
