My mother age 97 has been living in Ty Gwynno since January 2021. The care and support she receives from the care and nursing staff are second to none. The staff will communicate with me if an issue arises and they always make sure they have consulted with my mother first. My mother will tell all who visit her that she is well looked after and all her needs are catered for. She especially likes using the buzzer for summoning support when she is in her bed at night. When I visit the staff are always friendly nothing is too much trouble, they enjoy telling me about the funny things my mother will say. My mother enjoys all the activities, especially the quiz and making things my mother and others recently enjoyed a day trip to Porthcawl where she had fish chips and ice cream: It was the day the hairdresser visited and the staff made sure those ladies who went on the trip all had their hair done to look and feel their best. I cannot thank the staff enough for everything they do for my mother.

We have just returned from another wonderful visit to Ty Gwynno, this time to celebrate my mother’s 90th birthday. Living a 3 hour drive away, I rely on the wonderful staff to help me with elements of preparation for the occasion. As usual, they went above and beyond, baking her the most magnificent chocolate and fresh fruit-covered cake. We were given use of the staff training room so that we had more room to celebrate than in her bedroom. A pot of tea and a pot of coffee with lovely china cups and saucers. They really can’t do enough to help. I had made a few requests for help in advance and the manager and staff had been totally on the ball, all knowing about the advance preparations which is impressive considering the number of staff there. Some of the staff have seen my children grow up and extend such a wonderful welcome. There is a lovely genuine warmth about the place and filled with so much laughter and fun. I highly recommend this home to anyone looking for care for a relative.

Nan is well looked after by everyone. She’s enjoying being at Ty Gwynno Care Home and has a better social life than me! She’s eating and drinking well. Nan is treated more like a family member than a resident.

I cannot praise the staff and management at Ty Gwynno enough. They are very caring, patient and compassionate and treat the residents with dignity. I have every confidence that my father is receiving very good care. The staff are always cheerful and friendly, even though they work very hard. My father developed a medical problem last month and needed to be admitted to hospital twice. The staff promptly identified the problem and accessed the medical care he required and I was informed immediately. He has subsequently returned to the home and is doing well. He tells me that the food there is very good and they make a lovely cup of tea! There is a very good entertainment programme at the home with lots of fun activities. I enjoy looking on Facebook to see what my father has been doing. The atmosphere in the home is very happy and positive and I would have no hesitation recommending Ty Gwynno to anyone looking for care for their loved ones.

Mum was welcomed into the home in November. Ty Gwynno has a warm family feel and there are always fun activities going on. Mum is always well coordinated with her clothes, which really means a lot to us as she was always so smart. She loves the food and looks really well, for good meals and all her medications. She was recently admitted for a short stay for a medical condition and the hospital doctor commented how exemplary the paperwork from the home was. Staff are always professional and welcoming.

My sister is extremely happy at Ty Gwynno. I cannot express how kind and caring the staff are they take very good care of her. My sister is always joining in singing and dancing and when we can't get to see her, they put things that they have done or pictures of her. The care home is extremely clean, so all in all, an excellent care home.

Visit arrangements were provided promptly and updates of changing visiting conditions were provided, also. Designated areas for testing were comfortable and warm. Admin staff were welcoming and explained restrictions and testing procedures. On the whole, a very good experience and our relative is well looked after.

My father-in-law has been a resident in Ty Gwynno for 18 months and we are so happy that we chose this lovely home for him to call his home, in his latter years. He is so happy and content with his surroundings and with all the staff. We always get a tale or two about what activities the residents and staff have been up to. We are so pleased to see all the photographs and videos that are posted, so families can see how happy the residents are. I know if there are any issues, the staff contact us straight away, regarding eye tests, hospital appointments, vaccinations etc. He is always clean and tidy and we know how well he eats as well. I can only praise Ty Gwynno staff and management for the care and love that is given to my father-in-law, they are all so amazing. I would and have highly recommended this home to anyone who is looking for their loved ones to live in a safe, caring and loving community. Ty Gwynno is just one big happy family - thank you all.

My mother has been a resident of Ty Gwynno for approximately 9 years and my father was also a resident, until his death a few years ago. Both Mum and Dad have been generally happy with the standard of care and we as a family share that view. Our overall impression is that the staff are very friendly and attentive and the catering is of a reasonable standard with a variety of meals and choices. The home is clean well kept and maintained and we find the management and staff approachable and attentive in the event of any problems or queries.

It is our opinion that the measures taken to protect staff and residents throughout the Covid epidemic have been managed and maintained excellently and this appears to have been successful in minimising the spread of infection.

It is good to know that you are happy with the care provided to both of your parents over many years. The pandemic created huge challenges which the home, as you say, managed excellently.

My Mam joined Ty Gwynno about 2 months ago after a 2-month hospital stay. She had always dreaded having to live in a care home but I can honestly say she looks so well and happy. She says the staff are very friendly and from my perspective, they are very helpful and will do everything to make us as involved as possible. She is eating better than she has in a couple of years and even though she is reluctant to join in with other residents she is actively encouraged to do so daily. Visiting outside has been lovely and the staff are very accommodating in very difficult situations. To see Mam safe, happy and cared for makes the transition from looking after her at home myself, to her being in a care home environment much easier to cope with.
