Hallmark Shire Hall

My mother was a resident at The Shire Hall Care Home for about 5 years. She had severe dementia as well as severe heart failure. She stayed with the care home until her death in August 2026. The care home was excellent in their care of her. All the staff in the home take an interest in the residents from the manager to the laundry/cleaning staff addressing her by name and chatting with her. When she moved in after a fractured hip she could hardly walk and the previous care home were unable to manage her physical and cognitive issues. Within a month they had her up and walking . She took enjoyment from the activities put on including singing and art/crafts or being in the garden or a trip out. As she worsened the care was still excellent. We had declined hospital admissions and so with the GP input all her needs were met. Her terminal care was at the care home and she had a peaceful comfortable end of life.

I really enjoy coming and helping at The "Queen bee club" and seeing everyone. Such a lovely place to come to with Wonderful staff.

I wish we could have moved her sooner.

Lovely care home. I always feel welcome and part of a friendly atmosphere. The whole team show compassion and are always there for you.

I could not think of anywhere better than Shire Hall for my aunt. From staff to the warmth of the people who come and go. It is the most welcoming, friendly, caring, beautiful place, and I know my aunt loved it as did we.

New like the home - made to feel welcome - was settled very quickly.

I very much enjoy coming to see my sister and all the staff are very helpful.

The day my daughter and I visited Shire Hall to discuss my wife moving to the home - we were greeted by the reception with warm welcome (coffee and barabrith). My daughter said to me, "This is the place for mum". With a lovely coffee shop, a super garden and exceptionally good staff, we have been completely satisfied with everything. Long may it last. Mum has only been at Shire Hall a week but I feel reassured that she is in the best place for her care and attention.Everyone is so lovely and on hand to help and mum seems to be settling in nicely.It's like a family hotel.

My mother has been a resident at Shire Hall since early October and I cannot speak highly enough of it. It was a very stressful decision to move her into residential care but it has been such a positive experience for all of us. A huge thank you goes to the whole team for making the process so smooth. The surroundings and facilities at Shire Hall are lovely and all of the staff are so engaged, caring and kind. Nothing is too much trouble and my mother's happiness and wellbeing is a genuine priority. Visiting is a pleasure -- the downstairs coffee shop is a fantastic asset. My mother enjoys all of the activities, especially having her hair done in the salon every week. She settled in from day 1 and is far happier here than she was at home, which is a huge relief and comfort for the whole family.

Every visit is always very friendly staff are very welcoming. From the receptionists and all the carers, kitchen staff, I cannot fault them; they go above and beyond, and I have peace of mind knowing how well my auntie is being cared for.

Amazing care home. Staff very friendly, can't do enough for you. The care mum receives is second to none. They are truly amazing.

Mum has been a resident at Shire Hall Care Home in Cardiff for a year and the care and support has been consistently excellent, with early response to any symptoms of illness, friendly and caring staff with virtually no turn over. Housekeeping are great. The facilities and activities are fantastic, and mum is living with enjoyment, and well, and happily. My grateful thanks to management, activities, reception, catering and support staff. You not only care for mum but support me too.

It's always a pleasure to visit my husband, the staff are caring and positive, they make us both smile. The building is clean and well cared for. The staff are well trained and happy in their roles. They make this difficult situation bearable.
