Just a short walk from the beautiful Cardiff Bay, Hallmark Shire Hall is a nautical-themed, luxury care home conveniently located close to the city centre. With a large, landscaped garden for residents to enjoy, a therapy dog named Archie, and various features within the home – including a social café, activities room, and traditional pub – Shire Hall is a place where residents thrive.

Moving into a new home is a significant moment in anyone’s life, but with a bighearted approach that puts residents and their loved ones at the centre of everything the team provides, easing into life at Shire Hall is a smooth transition. From the moment the team meet the resident and their family, they really get to know them; likes, dislikes, hobbies, and pastimes, all so they can support them to live fulfilled days. Plus, Hallmark All-Inclusive covers all residents' food, drink, and care needs, right down to their favourite biscuit.

The doors of Shire Hall are open day and night for loved ones to drop by for a home-cooked meal, a game of something fun in the lounge, or a gentle stroll around the gardens. However residents wish to spend their time, the team will make it happen.

Shire Hall Care Home always provides and professional approach to both visitor and residents.

The quality of staff from reception to the residential areas are very good.
The standard of care for the residents appears excellent, we are kept in contact if problems arise and we can get information

easily.
The best way fo summing up is I would be happy to be a resident if ever I needed quality support.

Certainly for a very long time I've not seen my uncle so relaxed.
He is after all in a very peaceful and professional environment here in Shire Hall.
His room at Shire Hall is very nicely appointed.
Its cleanliness is positively first class.
Whenever, and it's very often, I have dealings with any
member of your staff, I'm left with the definite impression that Shire Hall is an excellent care home.
In fact, an establishment which scores ten out of ten in every possible department.

visiting a relative in a care home setting is always quite a stressful occasion. From the moment you walk in Shire Hall Care Home you are welcomed by friendly staff who instantly put you at ease. They are fully supportive and always appears to have time to listen to anything even if they are really
busy. Seeing my nans face lights up when she sees certain carers shows that she is well looked after and treated with respect and dignity.

My brother had to be transferred from his former care home due to the closure of the dementia unit. His care at Shire Hall has been as good as the staff can make it. He does not always cooperate when carers are washing and shaving him etc. due to his condition. However, they are unfailingly kind and
patient. the atmosphere is cheerful and caring at all times.

I have been on a visit with my wife to Shire Hall today and found all the staff helpful and caring. As soon as you walk through the door you are greeted with a smile. My mother in law is happy and content in this home after being in other homes in Cardiff. This is by far the best.

My grandmother is always happy and when I arrive the staff are always aware where my grandmother is as she wanders around the floor.
The home is always clean.
The meals are always nice and well presented.
The staff are always polite and kind and dance and sing with my Nan all the time.
My Nan is
happy and that is what counts to us as a family.

I have visited my friend on a number of occasions and each time the staff have been really friendly. The home is spotlessly clean, unlike other care homes I have visited. The cafe in reception is a lovely area to bring my friend for a drink and cake. Everyone is so nice and I am happy that my friend
is getting such excellent care.

I have been a resident at Shire Hall for 15 months. The care I have received in that time has been excellent. I had been hospitalised for 13 weeks with septicemia, I couldn't talk, lost 18lbs in weight but since being at Shire Hall, I communicate and make myself understood and I'm eating really well.
The staff are so attentive to residents needs and offer support to me when times are difficult. I am always made to feel welcome from the receptionist, the staff in the kitchen and cleaning staff. All in all Shire Hall is a very 'Happy Home' and have made this difficult time so much easier. Thank you.

My mother who is now 94 has been in the home for 18 months and she has settled in very well. She likes the food and is eating well. Last year she fell and broke her femur but was back on her feel in no time at all.
The food is excellent and the meals are enough and more!!

The carers are kind and

considerate and always make sure that the resident's dignity is considered all the time.

It is very distressing hearing your mother going into a new care home. After previous experience, I was anxious about the establishment. However, she has settled down well. She is happy. She loves the staff and gets along with all activities with other residents. Overall, happy.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.935)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.935) out of 10 for Hallmark Shire Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.935 for Hallmark Shire Hall is calculated as follows: ( (243 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 260 Ratings = 4.935
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hallmark Shire Hall is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 99 registered maximum number of service users is 19.8, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
