We do accept that there are some things we could have done better, and I want to assure you that action was taken whilst your father was at the home, to try to put those things right. We want all our residents, and their families, to experience the excellent care that April Court is known for, but fully accept that for your father, the experience was not always as it should have been. The team take great pride in creating a comfortable and pleasant environment, with clean and well-maintained communal spaces. With regards to your mum's bedroom, it is important for every resident to feel comfortable in their personal space; we are continuously looking for ways to improve and I will pass your feedback on to our property team. It is great to hear that the food is excellent and that there are always activities available to keep the residents engaged, and having a lovely garden to enjoy is definitely a big plus! Thank you for your review. We are very disappointed to read some of your feedback, especially as a few of the issues have not been raised with us directly. As it's not appropriate to discuss the details of your mother's care on this public website, we will contact you directly to arrange a meeting to try to get to the bottom of any unresolved or new issues if necessary. It sounds as though the personalised arrangements we already had in place around your mother's food and drink may need further review, for instance. I can, however, clarify that what may appear to be staff using their phones whilst at work is more likely to be them inputting live data onto our electronic care recording system. This enables us, for instance, to review what each resident had to eat or drink on any given day, as well as what other care they received. I do want to reassure you that we want your mother to be happy at April Court, and for you as her family to feel she is well looked after.

Thank you for your feedback, which is appreciated, even though in some respects hard to hear. We met with you on 4th October and talked through the various issues you have mentioned. It was agreed that your mother’s needs would be better met in a specialist unit, which is where she is now placed. We sincerely wish you both all the best going forward.
