Although my father-in-law was only with this Nursing Home for a short time before he passed. We cannot recommend it highly enough. Thoroughly professional from our first contact to the end. All the staff treated my father-in-law with dignity and respect, his every need was met in a friendly professional
caring manner. Thank you to all concerned.

Cares and all other staff are first class, mum is very happy. Good choice of meals, drinks and mum is able to request her own choices if they are not on the menu. A comfortable room which we have been able to make very homely.

The home always smells clean and fresh when we visit.
The staff are helpful and when asked questions they do their best to help.
My Dad's room is clean and my Dad says the food is pretty good there, and as he is a retired chef it's very rare that he pays good compliments.
There are plenty of activities
for the residents, and hopefully, my Dad will eventually get involved.

The staff were extremely helpful and kind. My Husband was, sadly, only there for 5 days before he died but they could not have been kinder or more helpful.

This care home has been a blessing for my father and gives us great peace of mind. He feels very safe and secure here. The staff have built a lovely rapport with my Dad and are also extremely friendly towards us.

He loves the food and enjoys meeting other residents. He now looks after himself much

better than he did before he came to the home. He now has his dignity back. Thank you.

Both my parents were resident in the above home. My father until 2009 and my Mum April 2018. Both received excellent care. Due to living away from Swansea, I was able to have dinner whilst visiting. The food was always excellent. I was kept well informed about my mother's health as I would phone each
day and visit every 2-3 weeks. The Manager does her job very well as do all the staff. I shall miss their kindness.

My grandad has been at the accommodation for approximately 2 years. He has gained weight, has his feet, nails and hair done in a friendly, non rushed fashion, to a high-quality standard. Food is always fresh and varied and always smells lovely. The staff are always friendly towards my grandad and don't
mind what time we visit. My grandad trusts the staff. One staff member is always on top of any queries my Grandad may have, she regularly updates me on everything to do with him. However, I have never met/spoken to any senior management but I don't know if they have any.

What a wonderful home with amazing staff who were clearly committed to their job. The rooms were clean and homely. It was clear to see that the staff treated my Mum with dignity, nothing was too much for them. My Mum was clean and genuinely cared for. Choice of meals was good. The interaction between
staff and residents was incredible. It put my mind at rest every day leaving my Mum knowing that she was in the safest of homes.

My mum was in the home for 6 weeks. During that time I found the staff to be friendly and attentive to my mum's needs.
My only concern is that after 5pm the staffing levels did not always appear to be sufficient and the buzzer for attention was constantly sounding, which was disconcerting.
Reply from Claire Hurworth, Careline Manager at St Martin's Court Care HomeMany thanks for taking the time to raise your concern with me and I value your feedback. I’m sorry that you had the perception that after 5pm there seemed to be fewer staff on duty than the rest of the day. Our staffing levels are the same throughout the day and evening periods and we keep them under constant review. 5pm can be a busy time of the day when some residents may want to go to their bedrooms or others are requesting support, using their call bells to summon staff.

Choosing the right care home/setting for a relative or loved one is one of the hardest choices to make. Since my uncle has been at St Martin's, we know he is in very good hands. The level of care he receives is fantastic and professional. The communication is brilliant, his room is always clean and
tidy and if he wants anything doing, the handyman is there to do it for him. All the staff are friendly and most importantly, my uncle tells us how wonderful they all are. The food menu is 1st class, lots of activities, trips out and onsite facilities are outstanding. My uncle and ourselves couldn't have chosen a more happier home than St Martin's.

My mother arrived with you after 12 weeks in hospital with an infection, meanwhile, her legs had gone and is unable to walk.
Since coming to you, she was showed some progress and is looked after very well with the carers. It has not been easy for me as I have lived all my life with my mother, but I
know she is happy with you and in very good company.

Short of staff- when residents ask to go to the bathroom they have to wait for ages for carers to take them.
Reply from HC-One, Careline Team at St Martin's Court Care HomeThank you for taking the time to complete a review. We really value the feedback provided by those who use our services.
A concern was raised regarding the staffing levels and that on occasions the Residents have to wait for assistance for the toilet.
As a care home, we are regulated by CSSIW and we work to our allocated staffing levels. We do not go below these levels.
We take all concerns raised seriously and we have reviewed our procedures to try and improve the quality of the care and support provided.
This has been a positive exercise, which has allowed the home to change the staff allocation procedure which has promoted the care staff working in a more person-centred way.
There will continue to be occasions when Residents may need to wait for assistance however we aim to keep this at a minimum.
We will continue to monitor and review this.
Thanking you again for taking the time to provide really helpful feedback about the home. We value all feedback and ensure it is recorded and acted upon.

From the telephone call from my wife enquiring on this home, we were so impressed. Everything was explained about the facility. We were crystal clear on all information and invited to view. We found everything clean, warm and welcoming and very homely. To say we are impressed is an understatement. The
staff from top to bottom are a credit to the name St. Martin's. They treat residents with such dignity and friendliness. They are always smiling, always a warm greeting, make you aware of any problems straight away and go out of their way to accommodate any problems or concerns. Believe me when I say my mother can be challenging, but hats off to the staff, they are so patient bless them. I feel I could not find anywhere better than St Martin's. I even jokingly asked if I could put my name down on the waiting list.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.486)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.486) out of 10 for St Martin's Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.691 for St Martin's Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (124 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 162 Ratings = 4.691
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.795 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Martin's Court Care Home is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 registered maximum number of service users is 13.4. 13 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.4 = 0.97
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
