The care has been excellent. This particular time has been extremely harrowing for us as a family, but the care, compassion and understanding by the staff has been second to none. They have all gone way and above their duty. We will be forever grateful to them, for their care of us as well as our mother. We cannot praise them enough, we have been kept informed of her condition at all times. Thank you Trafalgar Park staff.

The home ran trips all through July and August. Families were able to meet their relatives at a meeting point. We met our mother at Porthcawl. We had a wonderful day with the other residents, carers and managers. We had a meal, ice cream and most of all fun. My sister and I have a lovely memory that will be with us forever.

Myself and family are very pleased with the care home. Mam settled in very quickly and is happy and contented. She has had minor health problems which has been dealt with quickly and professionally and without too much disruption. The staff are hard working and caring, taking an interest and interacting with all residents.

I have noticed a change in the dining room. The notice board has a hand-written menu on it which is a lovely touch. The menu has also been updated offering residents a good choice of food. In fact, some days my mother has a difficulty choosing!! Music is playing in the background and one carer sits on each table making the whole "dining experience" an excellent one. The catering staff work well as a team.

Mum has been at Trafalgar Park for 18 months and settled in quickly. The staff have been great and mum likes them a lot. The care home is always welcoming and clean.

Special praise for the care home manager and the two senior carers who have always been very professional and extremely kind. We didn't think we would be able to take mum to her granddaughter's wedding as as she is not very mobile anymore but the manager made it happen with the help of her team, and the loan of the care home minibus!

Last month dad was rushed into hospital twice in three day. All the staff who looked after dad were kindness itself their kind positive attitude helped us get through this dark time. We would like to thank the staff member who stayed with my dad and brother at hospital.

Also a special thank you to all the staff at Trafalgar Park, also a special mention to the ladies who maintain this marvellous home.

All the staff from the manager down have a caring, sympathetic nature. The staff are patient and spent time persuading residents to eat their meals, drink plenty of fluids and partake in activities. Resident are always nicely dressed, presented, and treated with respect.

A trip to the seaside has just taken place, with a street party and concert. As with all good organisations, leadership is vitally important, and the home now has good management which knocks onto the staff.

It is a very upsetting time watching someone you love suffer with dementia and deteriorate before your eyes but the care my nana receives from Trafalgar Park is wonderful. Every time I visit I am met with a warm welcome and the feel that the carers really care about my nan. I recently had a baby and the care home allowed me to email pictures which they took to show my nan. It really meant a lot as I live a few hours away and don't get to see her as often as I'd like.

We were so happy to find out that out mum was coming to our niece's wedding. Trafalgar Park had given her a carer for the day so she could come to this event. The care was brilliant and looked after her so well and joined in with our family brilliantly. Just watching the care our mum receives in the home and outside shows what dedicated caring staff there are at Trafalgar Park. Thanks.

Introducing Thomas Roche
Home Manager at Aberpennar Court, Mountain Ash

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?

“Making care person-centred and ensuring we do it properly; to the best standard and best of our ability.”

As a dedicated healthcare professional, Thomas has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. He is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for residents.

Thomas closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. He extends this caring approach to his colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.

When asked about why he chose to work in the care sector, Thomas remarked:

“Everyone needs help sometimes. We've all been in periods of our lives where we need someone to help us, regardless of age. I feel privileged working in the care sector and giving people the help they need.”

Thomas talks about his proudest achievement when becoming a father and having to rebuild his house after severe flood damage on his own, finishing it three days before his son was born!

If you would like to find out more about Aberpennar Court, Thomas would be delighted to have an informal discussion with you to answer any questions and provide further information.
