Our first visit. On arriving at the care home we found car parking to be very good. The security was excellent on ringing bell to access wards door was opened in seconds, a member of staff asked who we wanted to see and we were shown to a nice area, while she brought the person we were visiting. Looking
around we remarked how clean the home was and how friendly and helpful staff were we chatted to a therapist called Julie told us about activities that they arrange for them. She also showed us dining room which we were very impressed with. The resident we were visiting was quite ill on arrival we were very surprised to see how much she had improved in a short time. Our visit lasted an hour which was most enjoyable. In that time we noted how well the residents looked they were obviously well cared for the home and staff are a credit to you.

My mother has been a resident at Trafalgar Park Care Home for 4 years now. We cannot thank the staff enough for the care and kindness that they give. Everyone in the home is so kind it creates a very caring environment. When you enter the home there's always a fresh, lovely odour which continues throughout,
proving the cleaners are very conscientious. My mother's dietary needs have changed and the kitchen staff ensure that she has the correct balanced diet. My mother's appearance is always immaculate, as are all the other residents. We visit every day so we notice these things. The home is well-maintained. The new colour scheme makes a big difference, it looks so homely, thanks to the maintenance man. The nursing staff constantly monitor my mother and they contact the doctor when necessary which ensures my mother's condition is well-managed. We are always updated about all aspects of my mother's care and support needed. It's so difficult to have a loved one go into a care home but this care home certainly provides us, the family, with peace of mind.

Have been impressed with how the carers try to engage residents.
Currently not much entertainment being booked for residents but carers regularly play music/karaoke and do some dancing and singing just to provide extra stimulus/bit of fun to engage the residents! Lovely to see.

My mother is on Grace - the care she receives is excellent. They are compassionate and very understanding of dementia. They are caring and professional and personal. There is a lack of activities and family are not notified of any singers or activities - previously had posters up but this has ceased
and family are missing out on this with their loved ones.
Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Trafalgar Park Care HomeThank you so much for the wonderful comments about the care your Mother receives in Trafalgar Park. We were sorry to read your comments about well-being in the home and want to reassure you that we are in the process of recruiting for this post and have an individual onboarding. We will ensure that posters are put up to ensure everyone is aware of what is coming up, and we do apologise that this has not happened with the well-being cover we have had in the care home.

My father has received excellent care since entering Trafalgar Park on 30/11/2023. The carers are hugely patient, kind and friendly to residents and visiting family. All staff associated with my father's care are knowledgeable about his various conditions - advanced dementia, deaf, vision problems (cataracts)
and his very troublesome catheter, which results in frequent complete catheter changes and recurrent UTIs. The introduction of two qualified nurses (since January 2024) has been a definite advantage, in that they are able to keep a close track of his catheter care and prevention of UTIs as far as possible. Excellent communication with relatives e.g. notification of a fall, or any medical interventions.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.747)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.747) out of 10 for Trafalgar Park Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.747 for Trafalgar Park Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (183 Excellents x 5) + (44 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 233 Ratings = 4.747
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Trafalgar Park Care Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
