Very happy the way mum is cared for.
It is always a pleasure to have you visit. You make every visit a happy visit for your Mum. Your energy is also felt across the home. Thanks for your kind comments.
I have been coming to Fairways for 3 1/2 years now. I have always found the carers, nurses, reception and management so helpful and supportive. Nothing is too much trouble. I will continue coming knowing I will be welcome and helped at all times.
Thanks for the positive comments, it's always lovely to see you. I would suggest that you are now part of our team. I will ensure this feedback is given to the team in Dementia.
Asked for a breakdown of charges, how much it costs to look after my father, ie weekly food, cost of two staff to get him out of bed into his chair in the morning and back again in the evening, basic cost for his room, (electric, water etc) but I was refused the information by the manager at Fairways newydd, refused to pay the cost of my father's stay there until we get the breakdown, cost quoted on the 26th of February 25 was £1011 less the local health board payment, they now want £1355 including the health board payment of £218 a week, now they are giving my father a letter to quit the home unless we pay, we will pay if we get the breakdown which they are refusing to give manger was abrupt and put the phone down on me when I asked for the third or fourth time forva breakdown of costs, it seems to charging us for dementia care which my father hasn't got, the council pay just over £1100 less the health board payment of £218 why is my father singled out for such a big difference.
We thank you for your feedback. We are unable to provide a cost breakdown on a basis that you suggest due the home not only having bedrooms but having communal areas, general service areas and more. We also have ancillary staff such as laundry and kitchen etc. who all play vital roles in delivering...
Welcoming and kind staff.
Thank you. We aim to be kind and supportive, our lovely residents are our top priority.
When I visit my husband, the staff always ask how I am and ask if I need help, as I am disabled myself. There's always a warm welcome from the front door until you reach the resident's room.
What a fantastic comment, thanks so much. I will be sure to feed this back to the team in the NH. I will also ensure that our lovely lady on reception gets this feedback also. It's always a pleasure when you visit, and we are happy to support you in any way we can.
Fantastic care, brilliant staff, and nothing is too much trouble. No smell to home all fresh clean. Staff all happy in work making time to say hello. The receptionist was excellent, lovely, kind and caring. Phone calls were returned as promised. I highly recommend this home and KW unit, extra special staff!
Thank you for kind words, it was a pleasure to have cared for and known this lovely and gentle lady. She had a special relationship with the staff on KW and she is still fondly spoken of. I will ensure I pass your lovely words on to the staff on KW unit.
Fairways is the most wonderful, amazing place. Excellent care, the staff take time with Mum and nothing is too much trouble. I cannot find anything negative to say! Brilliant!
Thanks for this positive review I will feed this back to the staff at handover. It's great to have this type of positive feedback in a world where we have so much negativity, thanks once again.
Mum got ill in the summer and needed urgent care and we were lucky enough to phone Fairways Newydd. We were immediately offered advice and support and a bed was made available for a respite stay. The manager gave us so much time despite mum not being a permanent resident. She is wonderful, kind, warm, funny and knowledgeable. I immediately felt relaxed and knew mum was in safe hands. Her leadership skills clearly filter down as all the staff are amazing. They are so patient and caring and good at their jobs. Everyone went above and beyond to make mums stay pleasurable. The rooms are excellent and the food is delicious. I cannot fault Fairways Newydd and would be happy for her to become a permanent resident. Wonderful experience.
I have no words what a lovely review. It was a pleasure to care for your mum and she is lucky to have such a caring family. The staff didn't want her to leave and I am confident when she pops in for coffee in the future she will be made equally welcome. Good luck and take care. It's lovely to have a new friend of Fairways. I will ensure I feed these wonderful comments back to my team.
My mum and us as a family have been made to feel so welcome and comfortable from our initial visit until today at Fairways Newydd. The staff are very friendly and caring and the manager runs this place very well. Mum has been very poorly recently and the nurses and care practitioners have looked after her needs extremely well. Thank you all at Fairways Newydd
Thanks for this positive review. It's a pleasure to have your lovely mum here, she keeps us on our toes. Always happy to discuss any areas that require improvement. I'll speak to the staff and ensure I share this.
My mother came to the home with Lewy Body dementia ad after breaking her hip in an alternative home. From arrival, she was treated with dignity and compassion. Staff used all means available to care for her every need. Even though she was asleep constantly she was kept changed and clean and comfortable all the time, This was a very upsetting time for us but we took comfort in knowing everything that could be done for Mum's care was being done. The home is exemplary from the first arrival to the nursing/care staff and cleaners who kept it fresh and clean.
Thanks for this lovely review. It's reassuring to hear that the staff care for our residents whether bed-bound or up and about in the same manner.I will ensure that all our staff receive this fabulous feedback, thanks once again.
Fairways Newydd is a very kind and caring nursing home. The staff do everything they can to provide a welcoming and homely atmosphere for residents and their families. The food is very good, which our mother really enjoys. The standards of cleanliness are very high, with cleaners seen daily. Communication is excellent, with any issues, medical or otherwise dealt with quickly and professionally. Our mother greatly appreciates the care and kindness she receives. A big thank you to all the staff at Fairways for their excellent care and hard work.
Thank you for your kind and warm words. You have kindly identified our great kitchen staff, domestic staff and all aspects of the care your mum receives. We will ensure this is communicated to all departments. Receiving this acknowledgement is a great boost for our staff. Thank you again, looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Cannot thank staff enough for the excellent care my mum receives. My mum was very poorly when admitted to Fairways after a lengthy stay at hospital. When she arrived she would not eat or drink. Would not converse with people and had lost a considerable amount of weight. The outcome was poor, but with the excellent care, support and patience she received from staff, she has made an amazing recovery. She is now eating and drinking well and loves the banter with staff. Her recovery is so remarkable that she is now well enough to come home. We are thrilled as this would have been impossible months ago.
We are so pleased that she is going home to be with her family and we have had a small contribution towards this positive outcome.
Many thanks and wishing you every happiness for the future with Mum.
This is a well-equipped nursing home, where they do their best to provide a caring and homely atmosphere. Any issues we have raised have been dealt with quickly and courteously. The food is very good and is enjoyed by our relative. There is always cleaning going on when we visit and everywhere looks well-maintained and safe. The only ongoing issue is with the lifts not working which is inconvenient for our relative and disabled visitors. Would recommend.
Deborah, it's always a pleasure to see you and your family visiting your mum in our home. Thank you so much for your kind comments, we will definitely inform our domestic team of your kind comments, which we are super proud of. With regards to the lift, we apologise immensely for the inconvenience,...
Date of visit: 1st September 2023 - found Mum settled in the lounge and comfortable. I am aware she has suffered recently from an infection and received an update from the staff (nurses station). I was reassured that she had recovered and all well, much was good news. As per previous visits - her room was clean and tidy and Mum was clean and tidy too! All in all, very reassured with the level of care my mum continues to receive.
We are delighted you are reassured when you come here and your visits are made more special by knowing Mum is being well looked after. Thank you for your lovely comments, we look forward to seeing you soon!
All the staff, care staff, nurses, doctors and receptionists, are really caring and will always be there for you during your relative's stay. Not only are they here for the residents but also for the families, it's really appreciated at such a hard time.
Thank you sincerely for this outstanding review. These comments touched so many of us when distributed. It makes our job so worthwhile when residents and family members are happy. We pride ourselves on making everyone welcome and providing a welcoming, family environment. Thank you again, we will continue to let the staff know of your lovely review.
The care staff are always friendly, helpful and caring. My father is always treated kindly and with dignity.
The unit is kept clean and tidy and the meals are appropriate for my father's changing needs. He loves the food here!
Unfortunately, the nursing staff are generally invisible and I usually feel they're too busy to discuss my father's needs. I worry that this poor communication may affect his care quality and hope inter-team talks take place. Even email requests for information remain unanswered (wheelchair assessment update request). Management easier to talk to.
It's disappointing that you feel that the nursing staff are invisible and this will be addressed immediately. I'm hoping that we can change your opinion and the next review will be much improved. I will make contact directly with you to discuss your concerns moving forward.
The home is very welcoming and understanding. My mother struggled to settle and this was taken into consideration. Well done Fairways Newydd Nursing and Dementia Care Centre!
Here at Fairways Newydd, we pride ourselves on a warm welcome and then continue this through the entire resident's stay. It's lovely to know your mum is settling. Thank you for your kind words, we will pass this on to our team.
Very welcoming atmosphere as soon as you walk in by reception, that instantly makes you feel welcome. All the care staff are absolutely amazing and friendly, always ready to have a nice chat and if we have any worries they do an absolutely amazing job.
I am sure, our friendly receptionist will be thrilled to receive this positive feedback. I agree, our staff are amazing and we pride ourselves on ensuring an open door policy for our families if they require anything at all from us. Thank you for allowing Mum to stay with us.
I consider I am very lucky. My wife is being loved and looked after.
Thank you, I will make sure that the staff continue to look after you and your lovely wife. Always lovely to see you!
Fantastic care home with wonderful staff. No restrictions on visiting means I can pop in whenever I want to see my mum. She's been here since January 2023, and the staff are absolutely brilliant. Lots of events for the residents and great care. Thanks to everyone there.
It's always great to receive good feedback, and I will most certainly feed this back to the team, thanks once again.
