Overall Experience
My father has resided in Barleystone Care Home for 3months and he's settled in really well. I cannot praise the staff highly enough, who are some of the kindest and caring peopleI have ever met.
My father has received compassion, emotional and physical support, dignity, conversation and friendship.
His room is very comfortable and clean, filled with his own personal possessions, the ensuite facility is a bonus.
My father gets easy access to a large garden, where he can put up his own hanging baskets and bird feeders, that he can tend daily.
Activities, entertainment and exercise classes are a regular feature.

As a family, we are always made to feel welcome. After visiting my father each day, I know I leave him in good hands.

Over several weeks, end of life care for my sister. Care was excellent, nursing, environment and understanding of my sister's meds were of the highest standard. This care would not have been provided in a general hopsital, in fact, was on the level of hospice care.

Staff were very helpful when I telephoned, family and friends who visited were treated with care and understanding that this was a difficult time. Overall, staff are working hard to provide an improving environment for residents.

I was impressed by the initial meeting with the manager and subsequent dealings with staff. All were friendly but professional and "knew their stuff". My mother was treated with dignity and respect, notably in her final days and hours. Staff understood her interests and went out of their way to encourage her in these. Anytime I phoned someone would be able to tell me what she had done that day and how she was feeling. As a family, we could not have wished for better care or a nicer environment for my mother.

My mother was only in Barleystone Court Care Home for 4 weeks. From the day she arrived, I sensed that all the staff were aware of her, quickly establishing a warm, friendly and respectful relationship with her and so were able to observe when mum's condition started to change. The family were kept updated regularly and as her condition deteriorated, the care she was given was changed to reflect her needs.

I find the staff welcoming and very willing to provide assistance when asked. I'm unsure which activities are provided for someone who is immobile such as my mother-in-law. She has difficulty swallowing which means the evening meal which we help feed her can be difficult for her. Overall I think the staff do a great job but the residents would probably benefit from having more people there to chat with. I appreciate staff are very busy. The lady who is new on the care team is particularly good with the residents.
