Credit where credit is due. Over the past few weeks, Mum's care has been second to none.

The staff at Kier have been attentive and quick to act, contacting the GP and District Nurse teams, arranging visits and blood tests, and keeping us fully updated throughout. We cannot fault their professionalism, hard work, or the care they give Mum every day. On behalf of Mum and our family, thank you all for your kindness and support.

Mum has been an Allanbank resident for around 5 weeks at the time of writing this review. Initially mum went in capable of walking, talking, dressing and feeding herself (albeit all with a little help) She was however struggling on her own and becoming increasingly anxious. As a family my brother sister and I all lived 2 hours away and had been supporting mum at home for over a year. After a series of hospital stays Mum chose Allanbank herself as a way forward.
It was a huge step for us all to consider full time care for Mum and it was huge relief when Mum chose this herself. However, what has made the whole process easier is the quality of care given. Every enquiry is answered efficiently, every concern or request is considered and discussed in a patient manner.
Mum got off to a good start but sadly she took a mild stroke and needed a step-up in care and assistance and staff have excelled in this.

From the outset our experience of the management and staff has been excellent.

The staff at Allanbank provide a very high level of care in a compassionate way, always ensuring my Mother has the support needed. The staff and activities team are very good at encouraging her to engage with the very wide range of activities on offer which has been lovely to see. Knowing my mother is safe, well looked after and with good company is hugely reassuring and gives me great comfort.
Any issues that come up have been dealt with very professionally and quickly by the staff. Also very pleased with the communication from the staff, they are good at providing updates when needed which is very appreciated.

Staff are wonderful, kind and caring. Always welcoming and thoughtful. Mum has been involved in lots of trips and activities and is very sociable again which is lovely. Activities staff committed and inventive.
Rooms are a little tired especially bedroom carpets and bathroom. Electronic door often malfunctions. New bath looks great. Gardens have been well cared for but a small area outside individual unit sitting room would be great if closed off and safe.

Overall very happy with Allanbank.

Can I please recommend for the highest commendation the staff, they all give the highest standard of care unequally in the care setting, could I recommend they are given a bonus of £1000 and £2000 would to be unreasonable. I'm sure they would not object to 10% of this. This is a genuine recommendation of the 66 other residents of the Allanbank Care Home.

Dads room is very clean and spacious and has a nice view. The staff are very helpful and have made it very easy for dad to settle in. He is eating well, enjoying all the meals and snacks. Staff accompany him on regular walks around the grounds. Definitely a weight off my mind that he is safe and well looked after.

It was a big decision to move my husbands dad into a care home, but he just wasn't safe at home. Since moving to Allanbank I feel that not only has my father-in-laws life improved, my husband is less stressed. The room is light and airy, with a lovely view. The grounds are nice and well maintained. And the staff are wonderful. The food is proper home cooked, and wholesome. The move was definitely the best decision. Thank you to the manager for your help/

We have nothing but praise for the management of Allanbank Care Home and for the staff in Glensone unit especially the dedicated, caring and compassionate care towards my husband. They certainly keep his spirits up. Thank you for going above and beyond to ensure his well-being and safety. Food is good but he says some days not so good. He would love to be able to play dominoes. We thank you.

My mum was physically not well at all during December 2024 and had a knock-on effect on her normal presentation. She was irritable and not appreciative of the support offered. Despite staff feeling unwell themselves they tried their best to show Mum patience and understanding and they reassured me that they were not taking things personally.

Review from Florence C (Friend of Resident) published on 9 September 2024 Submitted via Website

I wish to convey my heartfelt thanks to all the staff in Kier Unit where my friend was a resident for approximately 18 months.
The unit was very clean and comfortable and the meals appeared to be very good with a great choice for residents.
The activities team was very good at providing entertainment and as my friend was one of the younger residents he enjoyed this very much and was happy to participate when he could.
Generally, the carers were very caring and professional and any minor issues that I raised were dealt with promptly, professionally, and resolved satisfactorily.
During the last couple of weeks before my friend's passing the staff were exceptional and we as a family could not have asked for better care.
I would like to thank all staff on behalf of the family our grateful thanks.

I would certainly recommend this Care Home to anyone.

Mum suffered from dementia and other health issues. She moved into Allanbank last November after a hospital stay as it was no longer safe for her to go back home. Thanks to the lovely caring staff in Glensone Ward they treated her with respect and kindness and made her days enjoyable and she settled in after a couple of weeks. Unfortunately Mum took a turn for the worse recently and the staff went above and beyond to care for Mum in her final weeks/days of life every person pulled together as a team to make sure Mum was well looked after comfortable and pain-free right up until she passed away. The staff are very special people and will never be able to thank them enough.

My mum was admitted to Allanbank a couple of months ago and I cannot fault the care she has received. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Her needs are cared for and she is happy and settled. When the senior and experienced staff are on duty, it is very noticeable and the standard of care is excellent. It would be good if all staff wore name badges.

My husband has only been a resident since January 3rd, 2024 and sometimes the less experienced staff have not given him enough fluids. Has been dealt with to my satisfaction.

My father entered Allanbank Care Home in June 2023. The staff were very friendly and supportive of my father and family helping to settle Dad in his new surroundings.
