Find staff helpful but allow me to do things my way as much as possible. Don't deal with management so assume they are ok as the majority of things are ok.

The overall standard is good. The staff are caring and patient; giving my husband reassurance and kindness. They are attentive to relatives' concerns. I am informed of any falls, accidents, or changes to medication. The staff do not hesitate to contact a GP if they have residents with worrying health issues. Catering staff make a lot of effort to cater for my husband’s pescatarian diet. Because of Covid, I have had little experience of management, but I have been able to contact them by telephone. Only a couple of negative comments. The rooms are good and kept clean, but could do with a bit of decorating, which I appreciate isn’t easy when they are never vacated for any length of time. Sometimes it takes a while for requests/questions to be answered, which is likely due to staff shortages, which many organisations are experiencing currently. Neither of these comments deflects from the excellent care that my husband is receiving.

I feel my mum is safer in the nursing home rather than being by herself at her house. She seems to have settled and is quite happy. Up til now Allanbank has been COVID free and must be a bonus for staff and residents.

Staff are very friendly no issues with the home or carers my dad feels safe in the home which is good. Meals seem to be good. Never complains about them, staff are good with him and nothing seems to be a bother to them when he buzzes for help.

Occasionally a severe lack of communication between members of staff. Mum recently had a fall and thought Mum had broken ribs but were reluctant to get her checked at hospital until I insisted they call an ambulance.

My uncle resided in the unit for two years and was always treated with respect and dignity. The staff genuinely cared for him and were always professional (however, didn't fault to make my uncle and us feel like family). The staff were always kind, understanding and accommodating. In the last days of his life, the staff showed genuine love and care for him. As well as making sure we as a family were ok.

Allanbank has a warm, homely feel. My uncle has resided here for the past two years. Staff have been friendly and caring when family have visited. Very clean kept. My uncle is on end of life care, and the staff have been exceptional in their approach to his care and also of their care towards our family.

This has been a difficult time to have to use the services of a care-home to look after a family member with progressing dementia and mobility problems. Being unable to visit has made it very difficult to assess my father’s care. However, communication is good and I get a sense of a caring environment with attention to my father’s particular needs. It remains to be seen if my positive view of Dad’s care is realised when I can finally be allowed into the caring environment. I’m hoping that then my review will jump to five stars and extremely likely to recommend.

My wife was admitted to Allanbank Care Home, Dumfries, on the 5th February 2020. Because of lockdown I haven't been allowed in since 15th March 2020, although I have seen her once on Skype. My gut feeling is that she is receiving a very good standard of care. I have left the box for activities because I don't really know what activities she does and because she has dementia she doesn't always remember.

My father was placed in Allanbank as a temporary placement. My family was not keen due to comments from other people. These comments are completely untrue - I would totally recommend this home. The staff are friendly, helpful and very caring. The unit is immaculate and so is the building. My only wish is this home was closer to where we live as we would make this a permanent placement.

I find the standard of care to be excellent and the staff are very patient and caring with my mother. My mum can be very difficult to work with at times but the staff are still very good in working with her. The home is very well kept and very clean. The food menu is lovely and they cater for my mum's special dietary needs.

Care and attention towards my mum were excellent from the moment she arrived from a long hospital stay. The genuine care and compassion given during her last weeks until she passed away in Allanbank were second to none and myself and family are very appreciative of the commitment shown by all the staff.

I have been helped a great deal with my husband.

In the time (just over a year) my mother has been at Allanbank myself and the rest of the family have always been made welcome at all times and have been kept fully informed with any changes and appointments etc. The food choices and activities offered are excellent and the cleanliness of Allanbank is exceptional and all staff are very friendly and always helpful.
