Please please do not put your loved one in this care home. We have had several issues culminating in the Care Inspectorate and social services being involved. Changes in management, along with dishonest staff sadly let our relative and our family down badly. It's a shame for the care staff there that
do carry out their work properly and cannot be faulted but after our recent experience we would firmly advise against using this care home.

It is a big decision choosing a care home for someone you love dearly, but I could have not asked for any more from the staff at Chapel Level. They have been incredible, even despite difficult circumstances with the pandemic, working hard to take care of my mum. She called them angels - not a bad word
she could say. It brought us comfort through a difficult time as a family, and we would not hesitate to recommend Chapel Level Care Home to anyone. Thank you.

The staff and carers are very helpful and are always there when you need them, I have never ever found any fault in the home and it is very clean. I would never consider anywhere else that I would put my husband, to me I made the perfect choice.

My mother came into care here nearly 12 months ago with dementia, during Covid-19. Everyone has been amazing, all the staff have been knowledgeable and very good at keeping us informed. A member of staff, in particular, has been very good at telling us how mum has been doing and any other needs she
may have. Thank you to all the staff for looking after my mum.

My review covers a period of being a resident at the Chapel Level Care Home for approximately two years to date. I have been taken by taxi from the care home to the main hospital on numerous occasions for health reasons. My most recent one being to the neurology department for my hearing, which they
are going to fit me with hearing devices. The Chapel Level Care Home has been most helpful to me and my family and I thank them kindly for all their care and attention.

I did not receive a regular review and on the occasions I did, I repeated the need to encourage involvement with activities. If you say 'come on' rather than 'would you like to' he would always get involved. My father-in-law had many talents, including singing and playing the keyboard. However, at my
last review in December, the member of staff did not know. I then received another call two days later! I felt on his passing to receive an invoice three days later was insensitive and my call to the office did not show compassion.

I appreciate we are in the middle of a Covid pandemic. My mother was a resident for eight weeks. She entered the care home because she was unable to walk. She was 95 years old and had all her mental faculties. In the first week she fell twice - the second time she phoned me because no-one would answer
her call. I had to phone the home. I had to suggest she was given a panic button. For the two weeks of isolation, she did not have a shower. She had no stimulation except TV. No one spent time with her. On the evening she died, I received a phone call to say she had died and could I get in touch with the undertaker to have her body removed. The Kind Care Company - I don't think so!

My Mum was a resident from October 2019 until August 2020. She entered Chapel Level with several healthcare challenges and was extremely well cared for. Her medical care gave reassurance to her and to her family. I know that she valued and appreciated the care and support and that she felt safe. That
meant I relaxed too and benefited from the care of Mum's Chapel Level family. Thank you all.

His final months saw such a change in him, he became more chatty again and so much happier compared to his previous care home, he was depressed and lonely. Chapel Level staff were amazing to the whole family and passed away very peacefully.

Chapel Level always has a warm and friendly atmosphere to it. My partner has been a resident in Thistle unit at Chapel Level for 10 months now. During all of that time, she has been very well looked after by a caring and dedicated team. I visit my partner regularly and during those visits, I see the
staff carry out countless examples of tender care and attention, both towards my partner and the other residents. It is very evident from the way that the staff interact with the residents, that everyone at Chapel Level has a genuine interest in the welfare, needs and feelings of the people they look after. Taking the time, despite a heavy work load, to really get to know the people in their care. This all helps to ensure that everyone at Chapel Level is treated with dignity and respect at all times. I have nothing but praise for the hard work and high standard of care shown by the staff at Chapel Level. Well done and thank you to all.

This care home is a very 'special' place. Chapel Level was my Grandmother's home and all the staff were her family. She was treated as a person and cared for with the utmost respect. Staff took the time to 'know' my Gran and she died with dignity in a place that she was safe and happy. The staff care
and go above and beyond in their jobs. The domestic staff team are like an army - they never stop but they always made the time to stop for a chat with my Gran.
I spent a lot of time visiting my Grandmother and I could not have asked for better care for her. The building is very homely, the gardens are beautiful and nearly every living room leads directly to the garden which is lovely. The entertainments officer is fantastic and she really thinks deeply about the activities and trips she offers the residents.
My only regret is that my Gran did not get to spend longer in this care home before passing away. It is the people that make a care home and for sure Chapel Level has angels working within it.

My mother was only here for a short time before she passed away but she settled in so well. Made friends with the other residents and staff. The staff were so helpful to my mother and me. It made my Mum's time there very happy. I am so grateful for everything that they did for us.

My elderly mother was admitted for palliative care and nursing. On entering Chapel Level for the first time, I was very happy with the reception received by everyone and was impressed by everything available to residents.
My mother, despite being terminally ill, was extremely happy with ALL aspects
of Chapel Level, including the cleanliness and attention to detail. The staff members at ALL levels were absolutely outstanding and this is what makes Chapel Level an excellent CARING home.
My sincere thanks for making Mum's end of life care so comfortable.

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“Kind care to me is treating others as you wish to be treated.”


As a Health Care Professional, Susan has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked in the care sector for many years, Susan closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Susan remarked:


“I enjoy being able to share skills and experiences with fellow Colleagues to allow them to deliver the level of care our Residents need, to make the environment a home from home.”


Susan has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest achievement being the owner of a special Care Home for elderly ladies.


Outside of work, Susan enjoys going on holiday and spending time with good friends.
