9.5 Woodside Court Care Home has a Review Score of 9.5 (9.525)

The Review Score of 9.5 (maximum of 10) for Woodside Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 15 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Woodside Court Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.525 for Woodside Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (111 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 179 Ratings = 4.525

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered beds. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered beds has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodside Court Care Home is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 12 positive Reviews (60 registered beds ÷ 5). 13 Reviews ÷ 12 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My mother has been in Woodside Court for nearly 3 years. She is coming up to her 99th birthday and so far has enjoyed her stay. The staff have come to understand her various quirky ways and her overall treatment has been excellent.

My daughter just moved into Woodside Court after 4 and a half years in hospital following a serious car crash.
The management and staff have been brilliant and have gone out of their way to make sure she has everything she requires and more.

My father has been a resident of this establishment for about a year following a series of strokes. After come initial teething problems that were efficiently and positively dealt with. As a family we are very pleased with the care dad is receiving. In particular, the staff who went the extra mile in preparing this "hub" for a celebration of my parents 64th wedding anniversary for a small family gathering, which both my parents enjoyed immensely. I would like to thank them all for their efforts sincerely.

From the first enquiry and look around all the staff at Woodside Court Care Home were friendly and genuinely caring and interested in mum's needs. The accommodation is first class, newly refurbished room for mum, colours coordinating and calming. Each staff member has shown real interest and respect to both mum and her family. I would highly recommend Woodside Court and am pleased staff are highly trained in dementia care, especially for mum who has Alzheimer's.

On my initial visit back in June, I was immediately welcomed and shown around all areas. I felt that this would be a good place for my dad. When a member of staff visited my dad to assess him in hospital she was very friendly and re-assuring. When my dad arrived on 8/816 he was taken straight to his room and it was a wee bit overwhelming with so much paperwork to look at, although I was able to take it away. My dad has settled well and the staff are lovely.

Fantastic day out at the annual summer fete, everyone was so lovely and couldn't be more helpful. To see the relationship between the staff and carers was lovely to see, where everyone is treated like family. We were all made to feel so welcome and we will definitely be back to join in with open days and special occasions held to raise funds for the residents. Special mention to the activities co-ordinator for arranging a wonderful day for the benefit of the residents, you are a credit to the company.

Since December 2015, I have visited Woodside Court, it has a calming affect on the residents who are well treated with respect and dignity. Always clean and tidy, a loving atmosphere is waiting on entry from the secretary, she is the kindness person nothing is too much trouble. Could we have music in the background playing residents choice.

Both my parents are resident here. I have found staff to be caring and attentive at all times. Despite always being busy all staff take the time to talk and laugh with the residents. The home has a good atmosphere and my parents are happy there. It is a great comfort to me that they are well cared for in every way, that their needs and wishes are met, and that medical support is always at hand.

Mum has been in Woodside Court for 15 months. The care she has received since day one has been excellent. The management and staff are on the ball in aspect of the care provided. I am glad mum was accepted into Woodside Court, I don't think I could have found a better home for her.

Would highly recommend. My mum had to go into Woodside Court for some respite care in December 2015, and we are in the process of moving to a more permanent arrangement. Since I first met the manager, her assistant, and the rest of the team they have been excellent in helping mum to make the difficult transition from living alone at home to moving into care. All the team have been very friendly, attentive and professional. Communication has been excellent and all of this has contributed to mum settling in well and being much more relaxed and content on a daily basis.

My great grandmother is in this home and all the staff treat her well, although, the home is very understaffed. The carers are very clearly rushed off their feet and have very little time for the residents. Also, while I was walking through the corridor yesterday, a resident was sat outside an office where a carer was sat. The resident was shouting (very clearly needing urgent help) and nobody was helping her. As I thought the carer might not have heard her, I brought the lady shouting for help to his attention. Very bluntly, he responded "yes I know" and turned back around to his cup of tea. I was disgusted in this response. I would not recommend this care home.

HC-One, Careline Team at Woodside Court Care Home responded to this review on 05 Nov 2015:

Staffing within Woodside Court complies with the Care Inspectorate staffing schedule and is also determined by the dependency of residents within the care home, which is calculated each month by the Home Manager. Staff in HC-One are trained to provide a high standard of care while respecting residents’ dignity. As there seems to have been a failure at this time we will follow this up with further training and supervision to ensure this does not occur again.
