St Olaf Care Home is situated in the seaside town of Nairn.

At St Olaf they provide high quality, personalised nursing care for older people. There's also a specialist unit dedicated for those living with dementia and have facilities for respite care.

The home offers 41 fully furnished en-suite bedrooms finished to exceptionally high standards. All of the rooms have en-suite wet rooms, and some include a small kitchenette and dining facilities.

The home has some of the latest technology to ensure the safety, well-being, and mobility of residents while allowing them to be as independent as possible.

My father was resident in St Olaf Care Home for the last two months of his life. We had had to be with him around the clock for two months prior to that and were at breaking point. It was an enormous relief when, to all my questions, the answer was, 'yes, we do that'. I cannot fault the care Dad received,
it was excellent, including his end-of-life care. It could not have been better in a hospice, and was all the better for being in his own room with his own belongings around him. All the staff and doctors are very caring, considerate and respectful. I was with my father constantly during his last days and not only was Dad well taken care of but I was too, including meals and cups of tea/coffee whenever I needed them. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms and the home in general are kept spotless, Dad's clothes kept clean and tidy and linen and towels changed daily. In fact it is like a very homely hotel but with added personal and nursing care. I cannot thank them enough.

My father has been a resident of the care home for four years now and although there has been a number of staff changes over this period I have found them to be friendly and helpful including during lockdown.
St. Olaf’s is a well-appointed, medium-sized care facility which is always clean and tidy.
The activities staff try their best to organise events within the care home. I know it would be difficult to staff short outdoor trips but I would have liked to have seen that opportunity.
My father enjoys the meals served there and visiting family are often offered tea, coffee and cake.
Communication is important and the staff are pretty good at updating me regarding any medical care for my father and if he’s had any falls which is rare.

My Wife has been in St Olaf Nursing and Care home for over a year and has been very well nursed and cared for by their dedicated and devoted staff, who are very well trained and motivated. I visit her virtually every day and am always welcomed with a cup of tea, and an update on her condition, by friendly
nurses and carers.
My wife is now confined to bed and while the rooms give privacy, and have en suite facilities, the staff are in regular attendance, and everyone is on Christian name terms, including visitors. There are no time constraints on visiting, and some relations are there for much of the day.
The food service is varied and of excellent quality, with a choice of menu, and I have enjoyed several meals there when visiting. My family and I are very pleased with all aspects of the service provided at St Olaf.

Very happy with the care and staff. No concerns regarding my father's stay. Staff is always helpful and caring, but sometimes a high turnover/use of bank staff who do not know him. Food is generally fine, but some issues from several residents.

Very pleased with all aspects of this care home. My husband requires quite a lot of nursing, and everyone treats him with kindness and respect. Nothing seems to be too much trouble, and if we ask for something, it is provided if possible. Everywhere is kept very clean. The food is varied and very good.

My mother spent her last 6 months at St Olaf’s. My experience of her care and her time there was wholly positive. The staff were caring and professional, the home was welcoming and nicely decorated. I felt supported at a difficult time and was always confident that my mother was safe, cared for and

Thank you to the manager and staff at St Olaf Care Home. My mother is with you on respite care and has regained her strength and dignity thanks to the St Olaf team working together to make this happen. Outstanding level of cleanliness throughout the home, a safe and secure environment, comfortable rooms
and a welcoming lounge and dining area. Staff are very professional, welcoming and focused on person-centred care. Staff always make time to talk to the residents and make a cuppa for visitors. Lovely to see the dining tables well presented and a high standard of food and drink offered. The outdoor area is well laid out, and residents are encouraged to spend time outdoors. I am very happy with the level of care that my mother receives at St Olaf’s. The staff are kind and considerate, patient and welcoming. The staff do their utmost for the residents and provide a good service. The food is of a good quality and readily available. Hot tea and coffee are provided throughout
the day when asked for along with treats. The home is always clean, and deep cleans are carried out regularly. The current manager who has been at the home now for a year and a half is dedicated, kind and hard-working. The manager has been a huge support to my mum, myself and family, with a few difficult situations we’ve been faced with. The only criticism I do have is the level of activities and entertainment available is low within and outwith the home, but once a suitable candidate is found to fill the position of organising entertainment, we hope to see a rise in stimulating activities again - it's not for the lack of the home trying to source the staff. Thank you for all that you do.

I would like to highly recommend St Olaf’s following our experiences there over the past couple of months. My mother-in-law relocated to St Olaf’s from Shropshire following an in-patient stay in the hospital. We have total confidence in all the staff we’ve met based on the way each and everyone has
managed the challenges that they’ve been presented with. Total respect, dignity and empathy have been shown at all times, sometimes in very difficult circumstances. Staff have kept us informed promptly of any concerns or developments. When necessary, access to medical care from the local general practitioners was actioned swiftly, and an assessment was made in a timely manner. The cleanliness, decor, food and ambience are more akin to a country house hotel! A massive thank you to all the staff for your excellent care!

My mum spent two weeks at St Olaf's having respite and had a lovely experience. My mum thoroughly enjoyed her stay and could not compliment the staff more on how they looked after her. She found everyone to be very friendly.
Mum was made to feel very welcome, and although there was care on hand, she
felt she was able to maintain her independence, which she really valued. Mum thought the unit she was in was perfectly set up, with the lounge and dining area all self-contained. She liked her ensuite room and felt at home. Mum also raved about the food.
My mum wouldn't hesitate to go back to St Olaf's for respite again.

Sometimes if you ask a staff member something to do with your relative, it doesn’t always get followed up on or messages passed on. But I do find all the staff polite and friendly, whether it’s the cleaners or the kitchen staff. I think the staff do the best they can under the circumstances, eg. COVID,
which can put added pressure on everyone. I hope in the future my relative will get taken out more and take part in more activities.

My father suffers from dementia and has lived in St Olafs for six months now. His condition has improved markedly since admission and he seems relaxed and content. The care workers we have met on our regular visits have all been courteous, helpful and professional. The facility is always clean, well-organized
and Covid-compliant.
He recently turned 94, and the staff laid out a lovely afternoon tea service for all of us, that we were able to complement with cake and candles. He thoroughly enjoyed himself and even regaled us with some of his favourite songs!

I find that sometimes I go visit my relative and they are just sitting in a room all by themself. Also, I think the staff are very helpful, always chatting and friendly very approachable. Sometimes things happen and we are not told about them straight away which I find annoying

This home is always kept clean and tidy. Staff very friendly and willing to help. Would recommend to anyone looking for care. Rooms are nice, own shower room, nice views overlooking well-kept gardens. My dad has been in almost 5-months now and seems very settled. He’s got plenty of room for him to walk
about or if he wants to sit in a quiet area or main sitting area gives him so much choice.

Visiting my mum today, this care home is as clean as usual, immaculate with no odour you would never know that this is a care home for the elderly. Staff are pleasant and welcoming while enforcing rules due to Covid.
Staff are always friendly to visitors and residents, and I can tell this is the normal
way my mother interacts with staff. She feels loved, which is important to someone with dementia as well as a good routine.

My wife has been a resident in St Olafs since mid-December 2020. Due to the circumstances of our situation at the time and the prevailing Covid pandemic, I was unable to research care homes prior to her moving into a care home. It was, therefore, a major concern to myself as to the standard of St Olafs.
For the first two and a half months, I was only able to have window visits with my wife, so was unable to gauge the standard of care or get to know the staff. However, once the home opened up and I was able to properly visit my wife, I was immediately put at ease by the approachable and friendly staff and the standard of care given to my wife, especially given the difficult circumstances of her condition. It takes quite a bit of worry and stresses off myself that she is being so well looked after and cared for. I would like to take this opportunity to pass on my gratitude to everyone involved with the care of my wife.

If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Care Home Manager

At St Olaf, we provide high-quality, personalised nursing care for elderly people. We also have a specialist unit dedicated to those living with Dementia and have facilities for respite care.


The home offers 41 fully furnished en-suite bedrooms finished to exceptionally high standards. Some of our rooms are suites and include a small kitchenette and dining facilities.


We also have some of the latest technology to ensure the safety, well-being and mobility of our residents, while allowing them to retain as much of their independence as possible.


As a Care Home Manager, I am committed to developing a relaxed and happy home where people enjoy living and working. We offer residents a variety of activities that can be tailored to their needs to ensure they can socialise and continue to enjoy hobbies.


There are six spacious lounge/dining areas so residents can choose where to enjoy the nutritious meals prepared by our highly skilled catering team.


Our landscaped gardens are easily accessible, providing an attractive area to sit and relax or enjoy a spot of gardening. Residents can also choose to pop into our hairdressing and beauty salon for a spot of pampering.


Provision of first-class care means we encourage residents, and their families, to participate in the home’s commitment to quality and become fully involved at all stages of care planning, as well as many other aspects of care home life.


We have access to allied health professionals, including physiotherapists and podiatrists.


There is also full medical support from local General Practitioners, the local hospital and the Community Mental Health Team.


The home is conveniently located in Nairn, close to Inverness.
