My uncle has been in Barchester Archview Lodge Care Home since the end of May. He initially went in for a week "to see how I like it when I do need to go in!" At that time his family believed he needed to be in permanently and gradually with the help and support of all the staff he was persuaded to stay and has now settled into life there. He has gone from spending up to 20 hours a day on his own, sitting in his armchair and eating microwave meals to taking part in the many activities, making new friends and enjoying fresh food once again. Typical of the comments I have received from relatives are "He looks really well", "It's like the old man we know", "Sounds like he is enjoying Archview"..... and to cap it all, we now know he is safe and we can sleep at night not worrying about him. Thanks to all at Archview.

My dad has lived in Archview Lodge Care Home for 21 months now. His experience has been good and he has settled well. The activities provided are excellent and well-advertised. The food is amazing and plenty of choices. Family and friends are always made welcome. Staff are friendly and approachable, issues are taken seriously and addressed. The care is good and my dad's needs are met. His room is small and in need of decoration. His carpet is old and would be better with flooring. The ensuite needs redecorating too.

I like it here and I love my cosy room. It would be great if I had my own shower or if there were more shower facilities.

My mother has been a resident at Archview for some time now. I am a nurse myself and in comparison to other settings, this care home is excellent. There is a real family warmth to this place. The staff are so welcoming and genuine. I can rest knowing that my mum is cared for in every possible way. I also have colleagues who have worked here and rate this service very highly. Amazing well run, a very high standard I can highly recommend this care home, Very happy indeed.

The management are excellent - they've been very on the ball with helping my aunt in settling in and continually assisting and meeting her changing needs. The staff are excellent - caring, professional and doing all they can to help. They keep in touch and always carry out what they say they'll do, and with a positive, bright attitude. The activities are excellent, and it's great to see online what they've been doing.

Mum came here in February and has had fantastic care and attention from wonderful staff. The family were concerned about mum going into a nursing home but that was diminished as we see her settling in so quickly.

Throughout the initial process, I felt informed and supported by the wonderful staff, who were sensitive to both my mum’s needs and my own. I was constantly reassured that the correct decisions were being made and gained confidence and trust in the very professional care team.
My mum was treated as an individual from the start. The staff know how to make her laugh, what she likes to eat, and the songs she likes to sing. Good company and music are central to my mum’s well-being and ‘essence’. The staff are preserving the very elements that make my mum who she is.
I love my weekly visits to Archview and have a great relationship with all the staff, who all know me by name. I look forward to long summer afternoons in the garden and much singing and fun.

Despite the horrendous impact of COVID-19 the home managed to provide my father with a secure and safe living environment. Staff all wore PPE and arranged for him to receive the inoculations he needed to keep him safe and healthy. They also made it possible for me to visit him in a safe and supportive environment.
He enjoyed his food and met other residents on a daily basis in the restaurant. The staff provided him with other menu options regularly when he wanted a lighter meal. His favourite was a cheese omelette, which he enjoyed on many occasions.
Dad thanked me on many occasions for finding such a wonderful home for him with such a wonderful staff team.

The love and care my mother received at Archview Lodge over the last 8 years was outstanding. Throughout all stages of dementia she was treated with love, understanding and respect. Each staff member contributed so much to Mum's quality of life and their dedication was fundamental in her care and happiness. Though living at a great distance, the staff kept me fully informed and had excellent communication. I could not have asked for better care for her and highly recommend this home.

My Dad has been in Archview for 3 1/2 years. Since he arrived here he has had a bad stroke and has been in hospital over 3 months. He has had good care and the staff have always been very helpful and kind. If I have any issues which are rate, the management sort it out. I am very happy with Dad's care here and would recommend Archview to anyone.
Very nice and pleasant facility with great caring staff.

Meet the Team (5)

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am the General Manager here at Archview Lodge.
Here you will have the opportunity to look further into what Archview Lodge can offer you and your loved one. You will also be able to familiarise yourself with the team who all assist in delivering quality person-centred care daily.
I have over 30 years of nursing experience; I trained and worked in London teaching hospitals before living abroad and then moving back to Scotland to be nearer to family. I love being a nurse and particularly enjoy looking after older adults, who I feel can offer us new insights into life. I find this area of nursing very rewarding and it’s a privilege to work with the team at Archview.

I was inspired to become a nurse by my mother, who was also a nurse at Archview Lodge many years ago.
I successfully joined Archview as a Nurse with the support of the staff. I can truly say that I was mentored well by the Senior Nurse and have developed many skills attributed to high-quality care. I am now proud to be the Deputy Home Manager after a period leading the ground floor unit and I strive to inspire others to become positive leaders who deliver a high standard of care to residents.

Hi, my name is Kasia and I have been an Admin Assistant at Archview Lodge since 2014. I am originally from Poland but have lived in Scotland since 2006. I find Scotland such a friendly and welcoming country to live in.

I’ve worked at Archview from August 1997. I am married and have 3 children and 2 granddaughters. My ambition in life is to enjoy every day and make people smile.

Hello, my name is Mary. I have worked in Archview for 15 years and love my job.
As an Activity Coordinator I work along side Diane and Sally and must say we are a great team! I love organising outings and other activities, like our Archview Shows, for our wonderful residents!
