My father recently celebrated his 100th birthday and the home was first class in arranging his special day from entertainment, food and special cake. Everyone made a fuss of him and it certainly made his day for him. According to my dad, he could do with bigger portions as he says he is always hungry
but you don't know whether to believe him as he has early-stage dementia. Rooms are a bit tired, could do with refresh. He would like more trips out. Communication with us could be better.

We are delighted with the care and attention Mum receives at Springfield Bank. Mum is very able to do a lot of things and this is reflected in how staff in the home looked after her, e.g. they enable Mum to do gardening, look after plants, change her own bed, a little light dusting etc. As though she
would do in her own home.
We feel she is listened to and asked for suggestions to better her experience and this is quickly acted on. The very fact that we recommend the home to my best friend for her father also reflects how we feel about it. Activities and outings are also excellent and keep Mum up to date on what is going on, e.g. Valentine's, Easter, any royal occasion are all celebrated. The office is always open and accessible for any queries and staff are lovely.

Nice home but at weekends not enough staff as everytime I visit on a Sunday there is sometimes no one up at entrance to look after residents and no one would know if there was a fall till later which is not good enough. Also think the residents would be better engaged with more activity as there seems
to be very little at the moment.

I find the care to be excellent. My humble abode, however, they need to exercise some restraint. My room was a bit of a muddle but I knew where everything was. I had taken the time to take the lids off of boxes, tins etc. before I knew it, some of the boxes had been torn up. I have a bookcase, I have
access to the bank when it is available and hopefully a social worker, they seem reliable.

I visit Springfield Bank regularly and have always found my visit to be a pleasurable and positive one. The environment is clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly and always treat the residents with respect.
My auntie is well looked after and tells me she loves it there.

I feel my dad has been well supported, his needs are met and staff are keen to help and I have found staff approachable, they listen and great communication. One nurse in particular has been attentive, so have two other specific staff members. Another specific staff member is available to listen and
so is the new nurse (department leader that was bank staff). She chats and updates us. I am pleased we chose here.

I feel that there has been an improvement in the care home in the past six months. I requested a more personal approach for the residents and this has been implemented by laminating on all doors with some personnel details and information of interest to staff who may be new or bank. One area which could
be improved would be an electronic air deodoriser which would help mask the many odours from a large group of people. These are common in hotels and public toilets.

My mum was at Springfield Bank since September 2022, together with my dad. Mum has recently passed away, with Dad not long to go.
I am struggling to put into words the love, kindness, compassion and dignity my parents have enjoyed from all the team at Springfield Bank.
The management team are excellent
- very experienced, with a lovely manner yet very efficient.
The nursing and care staff are just lovely, always smiling and ever helpful.
Though my parents preferred their own company at times, there was always lots going on for them and the other residents to enjoy, including parties, day trips and movie nights.
My dad has always enjoyed his food, and the fare on offer at Springfield Bank is excellent.
I feel like I sound a bit like an advert here!
My dad is in his final hours, and I'm just so so glad he's here getting the love and care that he is at Springfield Bank.

The staff are both friendly and caring and do their best to fulfil all my needs. The room is always clean and again all the staff, including maintenance and cleaning, are great. Initially, I wasn't keen on my father moving to Springfield Bank after reading reviews and reports. However, the care he was given in Dalhousie was with kindness and respect. He was well looked after, and I was well-updated on his day-to-day life when I couldn't visit. I felt that the care, nursing
and activities staff all genuinely cared and did their best to make Dad happy in his last months. I will always be very thankful for this.

Lovely staff, always very helpful. I feel my parents are well looked after and I don't need to worry about them. There's plenty of activities to do and lots going on. What does kindness mean to you?
“Going over and above to make somebody smile. You never know what people have going on behind closed doors, being someone that can put a smile on their faces means the word to me.”
As a Registered Nurse, Rhiannon has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. Rhiannon has worked in the care sector since leaving school. She assisted looking after her father who had dementia until he went into a care home. Rhiannon admired how Care Assistants and staff worked in all care settings and wanted to be admired for providing care for others.
Rhiannon’s HC-One badge says ‘Proud Mum’ as she is a new mum to her 10-month-old little boy, Hamish.
When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Rhiannon remarked:
“I like being able to mentor staff; helping them see their potential and how to achieve this. Being a part of a team that helps families feel at ease when they are picking a home for their loved one, like I had to go through with my dad.”
When describing her biggest achievement, Rhiannon commented:
“Working my way up to Home Manager, this was my future goal, and I am so proud I made it here. Also, I have been nominated for four Kindness in Care awards for a variety of different reasons. I received a Kindness in Care award from one of the Residents family members who nominated me for dedication and commitment to their loved one.”
Outside of work, Rhiannon enjoys shopping and spending time with her family. She loves being a mum to her little boy and her dog.
