The care home is clean and tidy. Activities are arranged each day. The staff are often 'covering' or just started and not able to answer questions. I am going to contact the manager to discuss a few other issues, face-to-face.

Thank you for providing feedback and for meeting with the home manager to further discuss the issues you wanted to raise. Please be assured that an open-door policy is adopted and we always want to listen and will take action when needed.

My dad was accepted into a room last year following the death of my mum, his loving wife and carer. He was warmly welcomed by all the staff as were we. He settled into his new surroundings and seems to enjoy all aspects of the caring environment. All staff and residents appear happy and content everytime we visit. A big thank you to everyone.

My father is receiving first-class care in the Linlithgow Car Home. All the staff are kind and caring and very welcoming to all visitors. I was extremely anxious about placing him in a home however seeing how he is cared for on a daily basis and the interaction of staff with my father I feel happy and confident that he is in the best hands. The home itself is clean and tidy and the meals are all cooked on the premises from fresh produce. There is entertainment and various activities if my father wishes to join in with. There is always laughter and support when needed.

The staff at Linlithgow Care Home have been incredibly lovely and attentive towards our grandad. They have always gone above and beyond to make him happy and comfortable as well as ourselves when we visit. They are good at regularly communicating with the family and keeping us up to date on how our grandad is getting on. Since moving into the home he has been a lot more sociable and has made a lot of friends.

I think we can all agree that we all experience extreme guilt when we have to make the difficult decision to entrust our loved ones in to care. To entrust a person you love dearly to people you do not know is incredibly difficult and full of emotion but I am writing this review to say you can trust the team at Linlithgow. They will listen and try for your loved ones. They will be available for you to voice any concerns and provide support. They will cater their care around your loved ones individual needs and not apply a one size fits all policy.

As we get older it becomes harder to make new friends but I would say that our experience of Linlithgow has bucked the trend. The team very much feels like part of our family. They genuinely care and listen. They involve and include mum in their lives and have provided incredible support when we have had a fair few health challenges. We are incredibly thankful to have them .

My brother became a resident of Linlithgow Care Home in April 2022 after having been subjected to the most horrendous treatment at a previous care home. The manager of Linlithgow Care Home heard my brother's story and how he had been mistreated and without any hesitation, she opened the door of this fabulous environment to my brother. Slowly she and her tremendous team have shown great patience, begun to help piece my brother back together again, gaining his trust, encouraging and I can see my brother come alive again. For this to the Manager and the team I will be forever grateful. No matter when I visit my brother, morning, afternoon or evening, there are people around, he's sleeping and eating well, has stimulation and activities and a sense of purpose again. Linlithgow I applaud you. Laughter, fun and care as it should be.

My mum was in Linlithgow for four years. The care and dedication given by staff and management (especially the new manager) were first-class. In mum's last days the staff also took care of me as well as mum. They were wonderful. The only slight criticism could do with a bit of an update, looking a bit tired.

Reply from Diane Kerwin, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Linlithgow Care Home

Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of your mother, it was lovely to hear your positive comments about the Home Manager and staff and we will pass this on to them. There is a refurbishment planned for the coming months for the home and I know this will have a great impact for our Residents, colleagues and visitors.

Reception - staff friendly and efficient but not employed full-time. In their absence, visitors are required to phone the relevant department to request admission. My sister-in-law is a resident in the dementia ward which is probably the most demanding section to work in for care home staff. I've visited her several times each week for the past twelve months. I've been impressed by the friendliness of the staff - cheerful and greet me by my first name which is a nice touch. Room is adequate but smaller than I had expected. Services are good - cleaning, laundry, delivery of papers, hairdresser etc. Last year has been difficult for staff and residents. Despite the effects of the virus, standard of care has been maintained. I would recommend Linlithgow Care Home to others.

My dad has dementia and has been in Linlithgow Care Home for nearly four years. He has been looked after with great kindness and understanding and respect during this period. The staff are nothing short of amazing and have gone above and beyond with their level of care and patience. I was able to sleep a bit easier during the covid restrictions knowing that my dad was in such a lovely place and was receiving exceptional care.

Mum moved into Linlithgow Care Home in September 2021 and she has been well looked after by the hard-working team of carers, nurses, management, and the very helpful office staff. All staff work together to try to make sure mum's needs are met. Due to Covid there have been varying restrictions on visiting, also restrictions on the usual life of the residents, so mum has not been able to benefit from the usual wider-ranging activity programme, but this is no fault of the staff. They have remained cheerful, kind and caring throughout what has been an incredibly difficult time. The new manager and nursing staff are always willing to listen to any concerns and then do whatever they can to make things better.

After more than a year, I was finally able to visit with Mum in her room at Linlithgow yesterday. As always, she and her room were clean and well cared for. Mum has been a resident at Linlithgow since October 2014 and we (her family) have been more than happy with the way the home is run and the residents are cared for throughout this time.
Over the past year, the staff have shown exceptional care for their residents, even though they have had additional duties to carry out, and have done their absolute best in very difficult times to find activities to keep them occupied when their usual entertainers have been unable to visit. They have also shown care and compassion in maintaining residents personal appearance when it's been over a year since they could get even a haircut.

A huge thank you to you all. Let's hope, for all our sakes, that we are nearing the end of this strange journey and can regain some normality in the coming months.

My mother has been in Linlithgow Care Home for a year now. She suffers from Alzheimer's. In my opinion, she has experienced very little intellectual deterioration and demonstrates higher mobility in response to the high level of care she has received, the overall atmosphere in Linlithgow Care Home. Staff levels and morale seem high and management seems very responsive to change as witnessed by their response to Covid. My mum feels safe and happy.

Warmth and kindness surround me each time I walk through the door at Linlithgow care home to visit my mother. A quiet, calm and caring ambience is testament to the hard work and efficiency of the management and staff. I can honestly say I have never experienced so much genuine kindness and support from so many individuals under one roof. Spontaneous small acts of kindness, which one finds out about only by chance, indicate to me a genuine care for the residents and a desire to go that little bit further to improve their quality of life and make Linlithgow care home their home. In my experience, the standard of nursing and caring is excellent and all areas of the home are kept very clean. Any issues that have arisen to do with my mother’s welfare, I have been able to discuss with senior members of staff and have appreciated their advice. I have found that communication between members of staff is very good. It is wonderful knowing that when I phone my mother in the evening, she is safe and secure in lovely, well-maintained surroundings and has enjoyed delicious meals and has had another happy day.
