This is my first review since my mum moved into Linlithgow Care Home in November last year. Although the review is for March I have been very impressed with the care she has received since the beginning.
My mum continues to feel happy and secure and has developed positive relationships with the staff
who care for her. Communication with the care team, whether by telephone, or when visiting has been excellent and has given the family confidence in the quality of care provision. There seems to be an ethos of positivity in the home, engaging with residents as individuals and providing a range of stimulating activities.
As a family, we are very grateful for the professionalism and dedication of the staff.

My mother has lived here for almost 4 years now. Initially, she was in one of the frail elderly units. However, she has moved (March 2018) to the dementia unit. The move has transferred her and her quality of life. The unit is quieter, smaller and the staff generally have made time to deal with mum
and her individual needs - rather than meeting immediate physical needs, which tends to be the case with frail elderly. I would say she has put on weight, her mood is so much better and happier.

On arrival at the home, my dad was welcomed by the friendly attentive staff. His room was very clean and bright. The home had provided a presentation box with toiletries in it and fresh towels. All the staff are friendly and approachable. The home is extremely well run. Any medical issues are dealt
with promptly. The meals are all cooked on the premises and to a high standard. My dad has settled in well.

Food poor I.e portion size and choice, only found out after a member of staff left that she provided extras for residents from her own pocket. Not enough information regarding care I.e visits from doc, podiatrist etc. No information re point of contact regarding care of our loved one, she cannot always
provide it. (Vascular dementia) Cannot understand the glowing care home commission reports as opposed to what is actually provided at the home.
Would be more than happy to discuss this if necessary.

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback about the home. At each meal, residents are given 2 choices plus a 3rd option if none of the other choices are to their liking.

We have changed the first person of contact and this should mean an improved communication process with the home.

Management at the home has an open door policy if families have any concerns.

We are always trying to improve the service at the home and are grateful for any feedback received from residents and their families.

Two residents in your care. Very happy with all aspects of their care, stimulation and overall wellbeing. The environment is welcoming and extremely clean and ecstatically pleasing for both residents and family/friends visiting.

My mum has dementia and moved into the care home 6 months ago. She settled very well and I attribute this to the caring staff who treat her kindly and respectfully. She seems contented and happy which I'm sure she wouldn't be if treated otherwise!

The staff are really kind and genuinely care about the residents.

My husband has now been in Linlithgow Care Home for nearly two years. During this time, his mental health ie dementia has followed the course that is expected. He has good days when he is alert, upbeat and full of stories, most of which follow a pattern of buying a new car, new suit etc. Other days
he is quiet but again he can still surprise the family with things in his distant past he can remember. He has a good appetite and a strong heart which serves him well. He is almost totally immobile but his care is so good. He still has some quality of life.

My mother has been a resident of Linlithgow Care Home since 2007. Since that time my father and I have both been extremely pleased with the level of care mum has received. She is extremely well looked after both her physical and mental needs. She receives stimulation in the form of activities, trips
and entertainment, she particularly enjoys the weekly choir. Her every need is met both in terms of food and any medical issues which have occurred and we are quickly informed of any problems.


We greatly appreciate the compassion and caring attitude of all the staff, not just to mum, but to my father and myself as well.
