My Mum was admitted to Linlithgow Care Home in May 2019 and my father visits her daily. The staff have been extremely welcoming and supportive to our family. Mum is cared for well - the staff are so kind and couldn't have done more to help her settle in. We are fortunate also that Linlithgow Care Home is such a lovely place for Mum to stay and for us to visit.

Every staff member is welcoming and approachable. Any minor issues are sorted quickly.
Only teeny tiny negative would be there does not seem to be much fresh fruit on the menu.
Otherwise delighted that my mother is safe and cared for.

Great home!

My mum moved here from another care home 3 months ago to be nearer me. We are very happy with the attentive, kind care. All staff are very pleasant, approachable and knowledgeable about my mums care.
I believe the registered nurse led approach makes a difference. The home manager is very interactive with residents and made valuable contributions to social services review meeting for my mum.

The social worker commented how unusual it was to have a care home manager who knows their residents in this way.

This is my first review since my mum moved into Linlithgow Care Home in November last year. Although the review is for March I have been very impressed with the care she has received since the beginning.
My mum continues to feel happy and secure and has developed positive relationships with the staff who care for her. Communication with the care team, whether by telephone, or when visiting has been excellent and has given the family confidence in the quality of care provision. There seems to be an ethos of positivity in the home, engaging with residents as individuals and providing a range of stimulating activities.

As a family, we are very grateful for the professionalism and dedication of the staff.

My mother has lived here for almost 4 years now. Initially, she was in one of the frail elderly units. However, she has moved (March 2018) to the dementia unit. The move has transferred her and her quality of life. The unit is quieter, smaller and the staff generally have made time to deal with mum and her individual needs - rather than meeting immediate physical needs, which tends to be the case with frail elderly. I would say she has put on weight, her mood is so much better and happier.

On arrival at the home, my dad was welcomed by the friendly attentive staff. His room was very clean and bright. The home had provided a presentation box with toiletries in it and fresh towels. All the staff are friendly and approachable. The home is extremely well run. Any medical issues are dealt with promptly. The meals are all cooked on the premises and to a high standard. My dad has settled in well.

Food poor I.e portion size and choice, only found out after a member of staff left that she provided extras for residents from her own pocket. Not enough information regarding care I.e visits from doc, podiatrist etc. No information re point of contact regarding care of our loved one, she cannot always provide it. (Vascular dementia) Cannot understand the glowing care home commission reports as opposed to what is actually provided at the home.

Would be more than happy to discuss this if necessary.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Linlithgow Care Home
Thank you for taking the time to give feedback about the home. At each meal, residents are given 2 choices plus a 3rd option if none of the other choices are to their liking.

We have changed the first person of contact and this should mean an improved communication process with the home....

My mum has dementia and moved into the care home 6 months ago. She settled very well and I attribute this to the caring staff who treat her kindly and respectfully. She seems contented and happy which I'm sure she wouldn't be if treated otherwise!

The review was handled professionally but with an informal and relaxing approach. The questions and discussion points raised were answered succinctly and indeed our observations noted for future attention.

Overall for a first review and meeting, all parties in attendance i.e care management, social services and family members agreed that all was very good.
