Redmill Care Home, in the picturesque town of East Whitburn in West Lothian, supports older people to lead their best lives with personalised nursing and nursing dementia care.

The lovely home offers many facilities for residents to enjoy such as on-site hair salon, landscaped garden, sensory garden and lovely patio area to enjoy the warmer weather. The enhanced wellbeing programme allows residents to pursue hobbies and interests whilst learning new skills.

From care assistants and nurses, to wellbeing coordinators and chefs, each and every member of the professional care team is there to assist you or your loved one in settling into the home. With a wealth of knowledge and experience in the care sector, the home manager leads the team to ensure residents are supported to lead their best lives at Redmill.

My mother ha only just recently moved to Redmill after a number of weeks in hospital. The staff have been very approachable and helpful and we are very happy with the standard of care that has been provided to my mother up until now. They have made her feel very welcome and have helped her settle in
well. I have been kept up to date with my mother's care and have been involved in decisions that have been taken in. In general, her move has been a positive experience.

Since my dad has been a resident at Redmill I have been impressed with the care and support given to him by all members of staff. The lounge areas and reception are very bright and welcoming and his room is warm and comfortable. My dad says the food is always good and I can see that he enjoys his meals.
It's great to know he is receiving such a good level of care. Big thanks to all concerned!

Staff are excellent, a real asset to the company and should be rewarded at every opportunity. I felt for a long time that dad would have been better staying at home, however, the stark reality is that the family could no longer give the level of care required to keep dad safe and well cared for. There
are minor inadequacies of course compared to a loved one attending to the minutiae of a person’s daily life but I do feel he is being well cared for at Redmill. Re: external activities, note that your friend or relative won't always get selected to go on these perhaps due to lack of mobility/staff available/minibus capacity (there is only one minibus). I believe this is common in care homes. I feel Internal activities are lacking for dad, currently, there is only a Part-Time Activities Co-ordinator as the Full-Time post is presently waiting to be filled. This comment is in no way intended to be a negative reflection on the present Activities Co-ordinator who is dedicated and hardworking.

We now have 2 Wellbeing Co-ordinators in place and a full review of our in-house activity programme is being carried out taking into account the choices and preferences of our residents. There is a full programme of entertainment and outings booked for the coming months. We utilise our minibus to its full potential and as we have 68 residents we allocate places fairly to ensure that all residents have the opportunity to attend if they wish to do so.

Our family are very happy with the care and attention given to our mother and really could not ask for anymore as the staff already go above and beyond. We really did choose the best care home for mum.

My mother arrived at the home in January 2017 and from the first day, we were both impressed. At 96, after a hip replacement operation, she soon settled in.


In mid-July she took a turn for the worse and began to fail, over the next few days she became bedridden. The staff were amazing, she received

better nursing care than any hospital could give. I had to go away but the staff took over and her last days were comfortable and peaceful.


After her death, the staff ensured my wishes were carried out. I can't praise them enough.

I personally would like to thank every member of the Redmill Care Home team, their care and dedication to everyone is amazing. Not only do they take great care of my aunt who has been there since February, they have her hair, clothes and every part of her care looking excellent. Her trips out and entertainment
is first class and she loves this. The staff never walk passed myself or my aunt and everyone makes you feel very welcome. I have never seen such an amazing caring team.


The thought that has gone into the renovation is great having the little tea/coffee room at the front is a great place for the family to sit and catch up. Cleanliness throughout the building is excellent, the decor is lovely.

Mum has only recently moved into residential care at Redmill and I cannot praise staff enough for the help with the transition. At a difficult time for Mum and family, staff on hand and always approachable with teething problems and generally making the move less traumatic for everyone.
I have already
recommended this home to several persons who find themselves in a similar position.

I found the home and it's staff to be excellent in the way the services are provided to residents. Our friend passed away at the home and we are very grateful for the respect, dignity and overall family feel provided at the time. The care assistants, nurses and management staff deserve praise of the
highest order for providing what at times, must be a very difficult service.

Very friendly and approachable and the staff are genuinely caring about the residents. My mother has settled in very well and is happy with the accommodation and the food. At present some areas are not pleasing on the eye however, the home is being refurbished at present.

Staff seem caring and involved. There are many varied outings available covering many interests. Also available is in house entertainment. Decor and condition of rooms leaves a lot to be desired.

Food is poor, car park dirty. Bushes around the perimeter need to be cut back. Decor not very nice.

We are very pleased to confirm that the home is about to undergo a major refurbishment programme, Residents, staff and relatives will be continue to be included in the process, with their views being taken into consideration when choosing furnishing, fabrics and furniture. The gardens are part of a maintenance contract and have recently had shrubs cut back over the past week, prior to receiving this concern.
We always value the feedback from Residents and relatives with regard to the menu choices and we would encourage anyone to speak with the manager when they feel that the food provided is not to their liking, as there is always more than one choice at mealtimes.
The Home Manager operates an open door policy, please feel free to call in and
discuss any concerns you may have.

Although my mother has only been in the care home a few weeks she seems to be settling in Redmill Care Home well and I think this is due to the friendliness and care of the staff both to my mother and to members of the family. Hopefully this will continue and Mum will have a pleasant and caring stay

The staff which I have come to know over the years are very nice and answer any queries I have. They also phone and tell me when things have gone wrong. I believe there is a new manager at Redmill NH, but I have never met him or her.

From the initial look around facility management put our minds at rest that Redmill was the right place. Plenty of lounges and quiet rooms, lots of entertainment and occasional trips. Open days always well attended. We can come and go whenever we want observing meal times. We can take dad out whenever
we want. Staff keep us fully informed with any change in health. Washing done and returned same day amazing. they got to know dad so well so quickly and know all his tricks.
