Nestled within the friendly surroundings of Glasgow, Ailsa Craig Care Home offers personalised nursing and nursing dementia care to older people.

The experienced and friendly home manager leads the team at Ailsa Craig to provide the kindest care possible to all residents and ensure everyone settles in to life at the home.

I would not recommend that you put your loved one in this so called Care Home.
Not fit for purpose. From the day our Mum became a resident till she passed away, our family had issues with all aspects of her care.

I'm very happy with the care and service provided, the rooms are very nice and clean, and the activities offered are particularly good and varied. Overall I am very happy with Mum being here, in fact I would be happy to recommend this home to friends and relatives.

All my feelings of doubt about care homes have been more than satisfied. My dad spent his last few months under the care of those who really know how to care. The nurses, manager and staff were all so friendly and helpful to my dad and me. So much appreciate all the staff and thanks for helping restore
my faith in care homes (and my sanity). I couldn't have done it without you. Can I pre-book a room for me?

The smell in the new TV room is very bad. There needs to be more ventilation flowing through the new part of the building.
Staff turnover seems to be high, new faces all the time. No time for the staff to build relationships with the residents.

The staff are very kind and engaged, you get the feeling they are really paying attention to everyone and know them well. There's affection and it feels like a warm and welcoming place. I've seen staff deal with very challenging situations in a kind and decisive way which is a very reassuring thing
to see. It can obviously be a very challenging job. Well done to the team. Feel better knowing my grandma is here at a challenging time in her life.

I have no complaints about my mum's treatment. I am generally happy and appreciative of the way the staff look after my mum. The staff treat my mum with dignity. My mum can be quite resistant but they are very good at persuading her to do things for her own good or leaving her and come back later when
she is more amenable.

The staff is amazing, they have been so good with my mum, they got her back on her feet and a smile on her face. Can't thank them enough. The place is spotless with a happy atmosphere. I can have a good night's sleep knowing my mum is safe and happy.

Overall the home is very good. I have found all the staff excellent. My brother is well settled and within the context of his health and wellbeing, he is 'happy enough'. I have not selected every option as I do not have knowledge of that topic.

Can't fail anyone when it comes to care and attention. Everyone is so kind and patient and smiling, although I'm sure the staff don't always feel like smiling, but they never show this. The place is always clean and tidy when I visit, and the staff are ready to answer any questions I might have in connection
with my husband's welfare. Clothes and things get lost and sometimes never get found, but although this can be annoying, it's understandable, and the staff are always kept busy, and they are always friendly.

My grandfather has been looked after well in Ailsa Craig Care Home. The staff are lovely and the activity girl and what she is organising has been so nice to see.
He enjoys the food and the home baking.

My mum went in for a two-week respite last Monday 29th November at 2 pm. She had onset dementia. A member of staff eventually came in telling her she was the mad carer and laughing and telling Mum she would have her dancing. We never saw her again. After leaving to let her get tea she called me to say
someone closed her door and left her. I called the home, could not get through. My mum called a little while later to say still no one had come in and her alarm had been put on the wall. She could not get up and her TV had gone off. She was so anxious and scared after having been reassured she would not be on her own. Again I called the home no one answered. Again my mum called very distressed, saying no one came in. I called again and still no answer. I then went to the home where I saw my mum was distressed and after telling staff I had called three times there was no reaction. Mum had a stroke in the home. The nurse from home had called to ask if I got to the hospital okay. Nothing after that to see how she was.

At HC-One we strive to deliver the highest quality of care to our Residents and can only apologise that on this occasion it would appear that care fell below our expectations. Unfortunately due to the ongoing pandemic, we have to follow Scottish Government guidelines and all new admissions to the care home have to isolate for 14 days with their door closed but with regular checks from staff to ensure their wellbeing. Staff sought appropriate medical advice following a deterioration in your Mother’s condition and ensured that she was transferred to hospital for further treatment.

My mum appeared to be getting a good level of care from staff who have gone above and beyond for her during the pandemic. As she has mobility issues she was moved to a room nearer to the dining room etc, so it's easier for her which was very thoughtful of the team.

My dad has been a resident in Ailsa Craig for two years. He has been very well cared for and the staff are amazing. During the pandemic, it has been very difficult and the staff have done their utmost to put safety first. We can see my dad regularly by zoom and this makes all the difference (although
I would pay lots of money to hold my dad's hand).

It seems to be a shortage of staff at different times which is detrimental to the residents, i.e. getting changed. HC-One having a reshuffle of staff within Ailsa Craig. Continuity is most crucial to residents with dementia. I have noticed the chairs are not cleaned properly, which is not really acceptable.
Trying to get through to the unit, can't be difficult. Easy - hands-free phone.
