Overall Experience
My father has been in this care home for 15 months now. He is very happy there, although he would obviously rather be at home, but sadly that is just not possible.

The care and nursing staff are very good and quickly got to know his likes and dislikes and his wee ways. They are so good with him. There are activities almost every day and the Activity Coordinator works very hard to try to find something that will interest everyone, which is not easy. Most of the residents are fond of music and there are also quizzes. I know that the Activity Coordinator constantly tries to find new things to stimulate the residents and has lately started to give them simple arithmetic and crosswords. They try so hard. I would highly recommend this Care Home.

My relative has settled into home very well and has a great rapport with staff, the care given by staff is excellent and all staff are very friendly, and professional. Food seems good. The only down side is that there is not a wider range of activities.

Thank your kind words. We will be issuing a questionnaire shortly to look at ways to improve our activities program.

My Mother has been a resident for 6 months and overall I am happy with the service provided, particularly with regard to the staff who work hard looking after the residents. Like any organisation there is always room for improvement, I feel that more attention could be given to providing activities and stimulus to the residents.

Reply from Pauline Beegan, Service Manager at Almond View

Thank you for your kind words Josephine. I am relatively new to the Service Manager position and I am currently reviewing the area regarding activities. If you would like to discuss anything further with me, please feel free to come and speak with me next time you visit your mother.

Overall Experience

Since entering the home my mother has received the best care possible. She settled in fairly quickly, which is in no doubt due to the care and attention which she received from all of the staff involved with her care. Her medical attention has been first rate, with GP involvement as and when required. The nursing team have promptly informed me of all medical emergencies. Normal meal options have been supplemented with lunchtime toasties on Tuesdays and fry ups on Thursdays, in the in-house cafe. This allows some family meal time when possible and gives greater variety of eating options for residents. They occasionally have a fish and chip van delivering pre ordered meals, which the residents love. Mum enjoys company and interacts with all members of staff. The staff are also very pleasant towards all visitors which helps to maintain a relaxed atmosphere. The residents also enjoy it when young children visit relatives. We as a family know that mum is safe and well cared for.

Good clean home with plenty of staff. Care seems good if a little impersonal. Always able to phone my mother as I live far away and the contact with staff has been very good. My mother feels they are very good too.

The staff are patient, cheerful and positive. They work hard.

The worst aspect of the home, to me, is the very unpleasant smell, especially in the corridors. This is sometimes quite overwhelming to the extent I try to hold my breath.

Reply from Pauline Beegan, Service Manager at Almond View

Thanks for your review Ellen. We are sorry to hear that you have experienced an unpleasant odour in the corridors. We are addressing this issue and I am confident that on your next visit this will be resolved.

First class care and attention. Facilities and standards are well maintained and looked after. Staff are always very friendly and very helpful, always reply to any concerns or questions with good humour. Mother is always treated with dignity and close care, any wish or request fulfilled if at all possible. Rooms well kept and looked after, clean and warm with good outlooks. Food is good, varied and nourishing with a plentiful supply, also refreshments always on offer. There are many and various activities, pastimes and amusements. Television and dining rooms well situated with ample room. The building is very safe and secure and easily accessible for visiting.

My father has been a resident for over 2 years and his health has deteriorated over the past 6 months and he is now bed bound. This has thrown up additional challenges for staff but they have been excellent at providing him with his additional care needs and making him feel comfortable and dignified.

All the staff including nurses, care assistants, admin, ancillary and management are professional and friendly, and go out of their way to help you with any queries you may have. I can't thank them enough for the high standard of care they provide.

Review from Anne B (Daughter of Resident) published on 2 June 2016 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

The care staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. The building is clean, homely and welcoming, especially at the entrance where there are attractive ornaments on display. Meals are varied and tasty, with two choices offered and a "soft" option for those residents who have difficulty chewing. Relatives are welcomed without restriction over the time they come. There is good communication between carers (the nurses are included in the term "carers") and family members. There are no difficulties raised over bringing in the resident's own hairdresser, podiatrist et al, although these services are in place for residents. Medical assistance is sought as required, and the staff make every effort to get to know the residents, so that they recognise when a doctor is needed. The laundry service is speedy and efficient, and if an item appears "lost" every effort is made to find it and return it to its rightful place. Resident's rooms can be "personalised" with furniture, paintings and photos.

Our mother has been a resident at Almond View since November 2015 and recently celebrated her 100th birthday there.
She is very happy there and well looked after by the caring staff. They are all very very good at interacting with her and keeping her happy and comfortable.

We find all the staff, nursing, care, ancillary and office staff very helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

Over all the home is very good, staff are very helpful when ever we ask them anything during a difficult time after my mums stroke.
The room is very nice and the day room also, when my mum ventures out of her room.

Thank you.

Staff are friendly and always on hand if I need any assistance. The cleanliness of the care home is good. My mother is restricted to bed and often the staff try to encourage her to take part in social events, even though it falls on deaf ears with her.
