My mum was in for 3 weeks respite care. She was very reluctant to go in. She had great carers and was looked after very well. When I went to pick her up she didn't want to leave. The place was very clean. Cant thank them enough for their care.

Aunt was in for eight /nine weeks , the place was a shambles due to staff shortages .
I had to call for staff on several occasions when ,residents were either upset or got into an altercation . There is a residents TV room where they are gathered up sat on big chairs or strapped into wheelchairs i
seen as meany as 17 residents with one carer in charge if anyone stood up he quickly went over to sit them back down to watch the boy band on TV .i asked a few times why my aunts feet were so swollen no one knew turns out no feet rest on wheelchair she was strapped into . Two men were taking her to the toilet . I found her in bed at 6.30pm fully clothed with a quilt and a blanket as well as a heater on in her room said she was tired. Dont think i was expected to visit again that day after a meeting that morning .the place is a sham anyone can walk in and out no checks . meany items go missing even though they had name on including clothes ,and eye glasses management a joke !! Could go on & on.

Mum has been here for assessment purposes.
The staff are exceptionally professional, pleasant, and patient. I phoned often and never has there been a problem. I always receive updated feedback on her progress. The Manager is extremely knowledgeable of her residents and is respectful of questions posed.
Excellent
rapport from all staff.

My mother has been very poorly in hospital and was transferred to Northgate awaiting medical review and assessment regarding transition and residential care. The carers have been outstanding in their care of my mother. Nothing is too much trouble for them and their love of what they do is evident. My
mother feels valued and supported and feels independent due to Northgate's encouragement for her to be active and involved. My mother is delighted by their care.

In the last five years, my sister has been here, I came to visit twice weekly with her wee dog and was always treated very well by all the staff, who were friendly. It is nice to know she is being looked after by staff, and one lady, who has always been so helpful.

My mother-in-law is in the Martha Unit in interim care, so I can't comment on value for money or rooms. I have been in the care home only once but what I can say is when you arrive, you smell cleanliness throughout the care home. The staff I met were exceptional, I did not meet the management. A well-run
home with excellent staff, well done.

My mum is in interim care at the moment to get assessed so I can't comment on value for money or rooms. The moment I stepped into the home, the atmosphere was exceptional from management to carers, cleaning staff etc. What a wonderful home with wonderful caring staff. Staff make care homes and this
set of staff go beyond their jobs. This home and staff are a credit to HC-One's portfolio of care homes.

My dad had been in this care home for 2 years. Due to covid and visiting restrictions, like everyone else, it was a very hard first year. Since the new manager took over the management of this care home, I have had nothing but support from her. My dad took ill a few months back and the manager and staff
in the mungo unit, including domestics were by our side every day until the end. Nothing, and I mean nothing was a problem, from supplying us a recliner to sleep on in dad's room, to buying us dinner. The list goes on. I will not miss being part of the care home sector as a family member but I do miss the staff and residents of the mungo unit. Thank you so much from myself and the family for your support this year. It means a lot to us.

I found all staff friendly and welcoming when visiting my Aunt. I was happy to see how well looked after and content my Aunt was. Staff checked into the room regularly to make sure everything was okay. Staff were very attentive and made me feel very welcome. My Aunt also said the staff were all very

Hi there, from the day my mum was moved into this care home the staff have been wonderful. All questions have been answered when asked and my mum's care has been excellent. The staff went beyond their duties, especially during this difficult Covid period. I want to personally thank them all for the

Current Review Score: 6.3 (6.282)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 6.3 (6.282) out of 10 for Northgate House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 3.2 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 3.208 for Northgate House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 3.208
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.074 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Northgate House Care Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.6 = 0.074
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
