My brother was moved here after his previous care home decided they could not care for him. The staff here have been exceptional at all times. Really welcoming on his arrival day and made the move-in really easy which helped both my brother and us. My brother can at times be challenging to deal with but the staff work out his "triggers" and do everything to remove them so my brother doesn't get stressed. Really pleased with the care shown to date.

The staff at Castle View Care Home are first-class. They care about their residents and treat them with compassion and dignity.
The food lacks variety, especially in the fresh vegetable category. A few greens instead of baked beans would be appreciated.

I can't really comment on the activities as my husband does not want to participate. But I do know that there are a lot of planned outings etc. for those who do wish to take part.

The kindness of Castle View Care Home staff is matched by the professional competence of their care. I am grateful also for the informative and kind support offered to me when visiting my mother from overseas as well as keeping me up to date by phone and email as well when I am away.
It is a relief that my mum feels so comfortable and at home during the very stressful time of adjusting to her move to a care facility. It was great to hear about and to see my mum's participation in activities, as well as the valuable social contact with staff and other residents, empathetically supervised to ensure safety, while communicating respect and supporting dignity. She is clearly enjoying the tasty and nutritious meals as well. It was a pleasure to see all of this.
I am especially impressed by the staff achieving such high standards of care while having to contend with all the extra challenges that Covid has brought us all.

You have my heartfelt thanks.

Very sadly my dad passed away today after an eight-month stay at Castle View Care Home.

Throughout his stay, the staff have been absolutely amazing. And over the last few days and especially today, the compassion, professionalism and empathy were outstanding and we cannot thank them enough.

Excellent service from the staff at Castle View Care Home. I am continually kept up to date on all matters relating to my dad by the nursing staff and receive both a responsive and flexible service from the visits team - who go above and beyond to accommodate desired visit times.

My only request is that visits be made available on Mondays and Fridays. I do appreciate there are set routines within the home that are undertaken on these days, however, as a visitor, it would give me additional flexibility.

My husband seems to be very settled in his surroundings and has been very calm which is a relief to me. If I raise concern i.e. I thought my husband's foot was swollen, the doctor was out the next morning and I got a phone call to tell me what was going on.

The overall standard of care was good. The staff appeared caring and attentive. Before lockdown I thought the activities were good (concerts and parties etc) - I don't know after lockdown arrived. The staff were good at keeping me informed about my mums health and well-being. Her bathroom could do with an upgrade, but apart from that standard of her room was good.

Recently had an issue involving a battery-operated air purifier, which was discussed with staff who said they would look into it. I spoke with the area manager also who said she would look into it and get back to my husband (he was the one who spoke to her). No feedback at all. He made his own enquiries and drew negatives from all concerned. Even a courtesy call from the area manager would have been appreciated - even if the results were unfavourable.

As a family, we can't fault the care that our mum has received, and the dedication and support from the staff are excellent. We appreciate how difficult and stressful the last year has been for everyone, but feel that there could have been a bit more communication to provide updates on our mum's condition. (A brief 2-minute conversation would have been sufficient).

Castle View staff have treated my wife thoughtfully and with great care. They have paid great attention to her personal hygiene as well as the cleanliness of the home. Whilst I have not seen any examples of Castleview catering during my visits in March, my wife is a healthy weight and in apparent good health apart from her major medical condition.

Re the ratings I have left three unrated because I have had no contact with home management, food or activities during March.

My husband has received excellent care and attention, and I am happy in the knowledge that he is being well looked after. I also know I can call and telephone at any time to speak to someone if I have any concerns, and I will be listened to. The staff are lovely and are very caring people who do a difficult job.
