My Dad moved to Hatton Lea from hospital in August 2023 and settled in very quickly. The staff in the Mossend unit are amazing, providing the highest standard of care and despite being faced with challenging behaviours, treat the residents with respect, dignity and compassion.
My Dad had a recent
stay in hospital which caused him great distress. As soon as he returned to Hatton Lea, he settled immediately.
Although the staff are extremely busy they always take time to listen and talk through any concerns you may have and are always willing to help. The staff have a great bond with the residents which gives such reassurance that your loved one is being well looked after. The staff are what make Hatton Lea.
I am absolutely devastated at the thought of my Dad and the other residents having to leave such a tight-knit community since HC One announced their decision to close the three HBCCC units at Hatton Lea. This is undoubtedly going to have a detrimental impact on him.

It's with sadness that we made the decision to close the three HBCCC units. Closing the Milnwood, Mossend and Orbiston communities isn't a decision that we wanted to make. It has become clear that the physical layout of the HBCCC communities isn't adequate to meet the needs of residents. We will always act in the best interests of residents, and we have regrettably concluded, in consultation with our dementia care experts, that were no longer able to deliver care in these communities to the standard that is consistent with best practice. We are working with NHS Lanarkshire to support residents, their families, and our colleagues, to ensure the process is as smooth as possible. We'd be happy to meet with affected families on an individual basis to discuss this. If you'd like to arrange a meeting, please contact the Home Manager in the first instance.

My aunt has been in Milnwood for over a year now. She has settled so well, the staff in Milnwood are amazing with her. She has been in other care facilities for respite and never settled at all. She has never asked once to go home since moving into Milnwood.
And now they are saying Milnwood is not
fit for purpose and HC-One has cancelled the contract. Very disappointing and sad. I feel if my aunt gets moved to a new premises she will be very unsettled and agitated.

Orbison unit has only 14 patients all women. I feel my mum is safe and well cared for by all the amazing staff. Unfortunately, HC1 management has allowed the units to be run down with filthy carpets and old furniture. Nothing has been updated in years. These units have great potential if they had been
looked after properly. The NHS rent them from HC1 but aren’t interested in how the units are maintained. Patients are failed by both managements who squabble over money whilst patient's homes are not maintained and are now to close due to bad management.

Firstly, the staff are second to none but the main issue is HC-One’s terrible decision to terminate their contract of care to three units, namely: Orbiston, Milnwood and Mossend. HC-One’s communication beggars belief in this day and age and families and relatives have been treated with contempt from
day one. They claim various statements about how they care for their residents but in truth, it’s all empty rhetoric. I feel very sorry for the staff who will lose their jobs as a result of HC-One’s decisions and to be honest, the staff would be better thought of and treated better with another employer. All in all HC-One and their managers should hang their heads in shame. The only winners are the very well-paid shareholders out of this debacle. Residents and their relatives suffer whilst shareholders line their pockets with HC-One’s decision.

From my mother entering the care home our stress levels have greatly reduced. We are no longer having to deal with a wide variety of individuals and continually feel guilty.
The staff at the care home are all very pleasant and caring and all complete the role they are expected to.
They treat my
mother with dignity and respect and work in what only can be called a challenging environment. Everyone is so supportive.

My father has been a resident in Milnwood Unit for over six months, he has had exceptional care. The staff are kind and caring and treat everyone with dignity. They communicate very well with family and keep them included in Dad's plan of care. The unit itself is very tired and in need of updating but
it is always spotlessly clean.

Fabulous hard working staff who work to the highest standards. The care they provide to residents is second to none. They are so kind and caring to residents and their families. My family feel my mother-in-law is in the best place she can be, where she is safe and all her needs are met. She is very
content there and that is down to the staff who treat her with respect and warmth. We cannot praise them enough.

On the first visit, I wasn't sure of the home but once my wife moved into the home, the staff were excellent and she has settled well. Some of the areas in the home need updating. Overall happy with the staff and care provided.

Happy with all the care and attention paid to my mother who enjoys the company of others as well as the staff involved. Always informed about mum's medical needs and what visiting doctors have reported on. I am sure the family would agree this home is the best choice of residence for mum to be in and

Since my sister's admission to Hatton Lea Care Home into the Sherrell Unit at the end of May her general health and wellbeing have improved despite periodic issues with her mental health. She is eating well - and thoroughly enjoys the food. Care has been great from all grades of staff. All of this has
provided peace of mind and reassurance as I live a distance away from here. I and my brother have been very welcomed and received good communication about my sister. Thank you.

I cannot fault the care and kindness shown to my mother in Hatton Lea Care Home. All her needs are met with kindness and dignity. The staff are so friendly and treat my mum with such care. The food is lovely and plentiful. Mum also enjoys her visit to the hairdresser. I feel much happier knowing my

Staff are approachable when asked questions and seem to know residents well. Happy with care being given. Staff make an effort to get to know family members too. Great having a hair salon on site and the hairdresser is lovely with residents.

I feel that my partner is well cared for on a daily basis. There are a few members of staff in particular whom I believe are excellent at their job and always have the best interest of the residents got. My partner was in the hospital very ill and was returned to the home on end of life care. The staff have been amazing with him and he has greatly improved. I believe this is because he feels he is back home.

My dad has recently moved to Hatton Lea from hospital. We were shown around by staff and were immediately impressed by the caring and compassionate attitudes shown by all staff to residents and their families. The unit was clean and well-tended, though rooms are not ensuite, all bathrooms have recently
been refurbished. The team daily perform an amazing role and care for my dad as if he were their own, and they are quickly onto any medical issues. The domestic staff are stars. You have all made Dad's transition into the care sector a smoother move than we could ever imagine.

Since my wife joined Orbiston unit, her happy demeanour has surpassed all expectations. Communication with staff is excellent. They don't seem to have difficulties, only solutions. Her sons video call her from London and Australia. Unit systems works a treat with strong wifi. My wife is always clean
and presentable.
It has been a difficult time of late my thanks to all staff. You're the best.

“To me, kind care means being respectful and empathetic to individual’s needs.”


June is a Registered Nurse with over 40 years’ of experience, 25 of which have been in providing care and support for elderly people to enrich their lives. She is a conscientious and thoughtful leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


June closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also understands how important the community is and is always keen to include the local community in life at Hatton Lea.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, June remarked:


“I love meeting the lovely Residents, their families and interacting with my colleagues.”


Outside of work, June loves spending time in her garden and at the gym.
