At Hatton Lea care home, situated in the small town of Bellshill, a few miles from Glasgow, a dedicated and committed team go above and beyond to support older people to lead their best lives with personalised nursing and nursing dementia care.

Residents at Hatton Lea benefit from a number of spaces to relax, socialise and dine, as well as engage in the varied activities programme which includes everything from exercise classes to baking and gardening. I have always found the staff so helpful and my mother seems so happy here, she is always so grateful for the staff helping her. Although Mum can't remember names her wee face lights up when they are about. We as a family are so grateful for the care they show and especially during this awful pandemic,
ensuring the safety of residents to the best of their ability.

First impressions of this home when entering for the first time with my aunt was the cleanliness. Also how welcoming the staff were. Throughout the years my aunt has lived there I have always found the staff caring and friendly. This last year has been difficult for us all, but everyone involved has
worked really hard and done everything possible to make the home safe, yes it has been hard not being able to visit followed by restricted visiting, but definitely for the best.

My mum joined Hatton Lea in January 2021 after a lot of worry about mum going into long term care I am delighted to say its been the best move for my mum. The staff are all amazing in Shirrel house where she is a resident and looked after her so well

My mother was a resident in Belvedere Ward for just over a year. During her time there the treatment she received was excellent and the staff were very kind and communicated to her family during the period of lockdown due to Covid. Towards the end, she could be difficult to deal with as she suffered
from dementia but the staff were very patient and managed her condition well. The atmosphere in the ward was always positive and the layout was open plan which made it easy for staff to observe the residents while avoiding the claustrophobia of small sitting rooms.

I feel my aunt was very well cared for in her time here. Every member of staff was very kind and caring. They made my aunt comfortable and happy and made her feel safe. This made us feel happy too. My aunt and us as a family would highly recommend this home to anyone needing their care.

This is the 3rd time my dad has been in Hatton Lea. The reason we request Hatton Lea each time is because of the fantastic care he receives.
He is happy, comfortable and very well looked after, The staff in Hatton Lea genuinely care about the residents and it seems that nothing is too much trouble
for them. The standards of cleanliness are exceptionally high.

My husband has been in Hatton Lea for almost a year now and in that time, he has been cared for with kindness and treated with dignity. The staff are friendly and welcoming to all who visit. There is a good atmosphere in the home and I feel I can always speak to someone if anything is on my mind. The
food is satisfactory (soup is always excellent). I am happy with the care my husband is receiving.

My husband has been in the Moss End unit of Hatton Lea Care Home for almost five years and his treatment from all the staff has been excellent. He has been treated with the utmost care and dignity throughout and the staff are all very helpful and treat the residents almost like family, both personally
and encouraging them with their activities. The rooms and décor are very clean and tidy and I would recommend this home to anyone.

Always a very calm atmosphere and the staff are so welcoming. Apart from being so attentive to residents the staff always find time to have a friendly word with families and friends. I visit most days and without having to approach staff, they always inform me of my husband's condition that particular
day/evening and I can go home with an easy heart.

Since my mother arrived at the Orbiston unit, there has been a dramatic change for the better in her physical health, how settled and happy she is and her quality of life.
A year ago, we would never have thought - as a family - that we would be able to take mum out for a walk or to a cafe for a cuppa.
On Easter Sunday we were able to take her to Strathclyde Park for a walk and an ice cream in the sun - and you can see she really enjoys doing things like this.
Being able to do simple things like this is a testament to the staff's devotion to the people they care for.
Their attention to detail, genuine compassion and warm interaction with all residents is something that is noticed by all families.
Throughout the year, an effort is made to include families on occasions like Christmas and fundraising days.
The staff are a credit to the care home sector and to HC-one, and we appreciate everything they do.

My mum is a resident in the Orbiston Unit within Hattonlea and has been for the past 5 years, the staff are amazing and the residents are well looked after.
Staff are friendly and nothing is ever any bother for them. The unit is very clean and residents are well fed.


I continually praise the staff

and tell them to keep up the good work, well done to all the staff in the Orbiston Unit.

I find Hatton Lea very clean and comfortable for the residents. There is always plenty of food and drinks available and the staff are great at looking after everyone. It is like one big family group and all visitors are made very welcome. A very caring and professional run unit.

Excellent care for women living with dementia. Good, caring staff led by the unit manager. I know my wife is safe and being well cared for.

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“To me, kind care means being respectful and empathetic to individual’s needs.”


June is a Registered Nurse with over 40 years’ of experience, 25 of which have been in providing care and support for elderly people to enrich their lives. She is a conscientious and thoughtful leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


June closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also understands how important the community is and is always keen to include the local community in life at Hatton Lea.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, June remarked:


“I love meeting the lovely Residents, their families and interacting with my colleagues.”


Outside of work, June loves spending time in her garden and at the gym.
