Lornebank Care Centre is a purpose-built nursing home nestled in the heart of Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for up to 74 residents. The centre offers comprehensive, person-centred care, including advanced and early-stage dementia support, general nursing care, and respite care stays. Each of the 74 single rooms is equipped with en-suite facilities, and residents are encouraged to personalise their private space.

The facility is spread across two floors with a lift and features five units, each with shared and private communal spaces. We, as a family, had to choose a care home for my 91-year-old mother in July during Covid following a hospital admission. I used these reviews and found them useful.
The care my mum has received has been great. She is a person, not just a number. The nurses try hard to communicate with family in this,
the hardest of times for patients, staff and family. This provided us with reassurance. It is never a bother to call and speak to them.
They try hard to find food she wants and monitored her closely.
I would not hesitate to recommend, it’s clean, modern with very caring staff who go the extra mile for their residents.

The care home is neat and tidy and clean. The staff are very easy to talk to and helpful. Great variety in meals and well prepared. My mother was previously at another care home where she was quite unsettled. The staffing levels and professionalism of the carers at Lornebank have been first class. My mother has become much more settled and content.

At Lornebank the staff are all friendly, caring and very professional in their care. My mother is very well cared for and has built up good relationships with the staff (certain members) of staff especially. The rooms in the home are very clean and comfortable for my mother's needs.

I am more than satisfied with the care and attention my husband receives in the Peacock Dementia unit at Lornebank Care Centre. The carers are very friendly and considerate and overall. The home exudes a homely atmosphere.

I am more than happy with the care and attention that my Mum receives in Lornebank Care Centre. The staff are very attentive to her needs and even considering my Mum's needs, she feels very comfortable and relaxed with them. Any problems that arise with my Mum have always been dealt with almost immediately
and within a level of efficiency that could not be excelled anywhere else. If I have any negatives it would be the pettiness of other visitors but that is beyond the control of the staff.

My husband was only in the home for five weeks and in his bed all the time. After three weeks it was purely palliative care he needed and every one of the staff couldn't have been more caring, thoughtful and everything they did was done with such love and care.
They were also very caring to myself
and my three daughters. They were so pleasant and good at what they could do for my husband.

My sister was a resident in Lornebank for 6.5 years. The first 4.5 years were satisfactory as she was able to get herself to the toilet etc. and needed minimal care and attention. Owing to the restrictions on the review policy, I am limited to what I can say in my review, suffice to say my sister was
given a 28-day notice to leave Lornebank as my expectation to care for her was too high.

I’ve been a volunteer here for around six months and only have great things to say about Lornebank. The staff are extremely kind and attentive to the residents’ needs at all times. The residents have lots of company and are kept busy with various activities, from fun quizzes to their favourite films.
The facilities themselves are spotless and of a high quality. Can’t think of a fault and my experience has been brilliant so far.

My father has been a resident from September 2017. He has a lovely room. His toilet is a wet room which is perfect for him.
Meals are cooked on the premises and are extremely good.
All staff members provide a good quality of care.
Relatives can come and go at any time but are requested to try to
avoid meal times. My uncle became a resident two weeks ago.

Visited our 97 year old aunt, made to feel very welcome. Staff appear very caring and appear fully aware of patient's needs, likes and dislikes. Lornebank is currently under a refurbishment programme and what they have done so far is looking good. Other areas are tired and will hopefully be upgraded too. There have been several changes in personnel (Management) which is not so good. Sometimes I feel they are maybe understaffed. The staff are
friendly but I have felt at times they have gone on the defensive if concerns have been raised. Overall I think the care is satisfactory.

Very friendly staff, always helpful from the management to the carers to the caretaker.


The only issue I may have is my mum could be taken to the toilet more often as she is found to be wet too often, and then her chair is just given a wipe down rather than completely sanitised.

I have been in Lornebank now for over a year, so far I have enjoyed it I have settled in well. I enjoy the activities especially the quizzes, the staff are really nice, very helping and friendly. My room recently got decorated and a new bathroom which I really like it's nice and cosy, I sometimes like

To share a bit about me, I have 25 years of experience in the health and social care sector, which has provided me with the necessary grounding and knowledge to embark on this new and exciting journey at Lornebank Care Centre. I began my career as a nurse in Mauritius and continued in this role when I moved to the UK in 2005. I have since become a Care Home Manager in 2013, have held an Operational Manager role – overseeing two separate care businesses – and have completed a degree in Management.
Ensuring the consistent provision of the highest quality care and support possible to residents, staff and relatives is my priority, and I very much look forward to the next chapter of my career here at Lornebank Care Centre.

My name is Aimee Ferguson, Home Manager of Lornebank Care Centre. I joined the team here in August 2021 as Deputy Manager and became appointed Home Manager in July 2022. My previous management experience lies within the NHS, where I worked for 7 years.
