In our opinion, when visiting Lorna, we have found the staff to be caring and very friendly, a lovely environment for residents to be in. The care home is always clean and well looked after.
We can't thank you enough for the excellent care shown to Lorna.
We would highly recommend this care home.
The activities are well planned and second to none.

My dad has been a resident here for just over 2 years. He has always been happy, and the staff are always kind and friendly.
His fluctuating needs are always met with compassionate care, and he is always treated with dignity and respect. It is really nice to see friendly faces as his health has deteriorated,
and it is good to know that he can stay in the same room regardless of his needs. He is much happier having continuity in his care, as am I. It is a lovely home with lots of lovely staff.

We are so pleased that we were lucky enough to find a room for Mum last year. The staff are all amazing, friendly, caring and very professional in their care of the residents and medical needs. Mum loves her room; it is perfectly set out for her to allow maximum independence.
It is lovely to know that
Mum is happy and feels at 'home'.
It is Mum's choice not to join in too much. Although Sally tries hard.

I have mixed views of the home. I know that nowhere can be 100% and please everyone all the time. However, there are a few concerns that my family share and those are:
- only 2 night staff in Montrose Gardens
- having to chase nursing staff on occasion to do something instead of contacting myself
-
lately, mum being left to lie late in bed as feeling lethargic, however, family had to request GP to come in and see mum.
Saying that, my mum did settle in at the start better than anticipated, and joined in well with the activities, like getting hair done and having the use of a bath.
It is just over the past several months my mum has has one infection after another and has now withdrawn back to sitting in her room most of the time. Whether this is part of her dementia decline ??
The Senior Staff (Hazel) and Admin staff (Annemarie) have both been very helpful and sometimes gone beyond that.

My mum moved to Livingstone suite in 2023 as she was high risk of falls and very frail. The Livingstone team cared for her so well and very quickly Lornebank felt like home not only for my mum but for me too. Her room is clean & neat and her clothes are laundered and fresh.
She enjoys activities
and has visits from therapy dogs, owls & ponies! My mum celebrated her 100th in September and the reception & activity teams decorated and hosted a birthday party with 80 family and friends that was a joy for everyone. I doubt she would have reached this milestone without the nursing, dedication and love of all the wonderful staff at Lornebank. I am very grateful to all the staff and now am reassured that my mum is cared for 24/7.

Lornbank care home are taking very good care of my mother. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful at all times, and the atmosphere is very calm and, most of all, happy!.My mother has settled in very well, and has lots of residents as
friends, and sees all the staff also as her friends.
The building

Mum has been a resident at Lornebank since January 2025. We visited four care homes in the Hamilton area, Lornebank instantly felt right, Annemarie and Emma who gave us a tour were friendly and helpful and made our decision to choose Lornebank easy.
Mum has thrived since going to stay at Lornebank,
she has put on weight, she takes part in all the various activities and has even been out on visits.
The staff are so friendly and attentive to mums needs, nothing seems to be a bother to them. I think having people around her all the time and all the activities on offer has certainly given mum a new lease of life. For me it has taken all the worry away, knowing mum is being so well looked after 24/7.

From the first phone and then meeting our experience has been excellent. Three staff members in particular have always shown a genuinely caring, friendly yet professional manner to ourselves and family members. This echoes throughout the whole team. They all show patience and understanding as well as
a sense of humour. Having supported our love one for many years at home, they have helped make the transition to their care home the best it can be. We feel well supported and listened to. Different activities available in the home and the coffee and cake in the cafe have added to stimulating experience.

Having moved my dad from another care home in March this year, my sister and I were anxious about him settling. The staff in my dad's unit in Lornebank have really got to know my dad and his 'ways'. They have quickly learned what matters to him and treat him with respect and dignity. They continually
strive to find ways to help my dad both emotionally and physically. The staff show compassion and understanding to my dad and the family. Particular attention is given to ensure fluids are taken on board and regularly encourage eating and drinking when my dad needs prompts. We are very grateful for their efforts

This review relates to Oct 2024 until Jan 2025, about our Mum who has dementia. We know a new manager was appointed in March 2025. The receptionist and cleaners at Sandiacre were always caring and kind with Mum and would talk to Mum. We were really disappointed with the overall care and compassion,
the nurses were helpful at times. We felt that the care assistants were not compassionate and did not attempt to have a relationship with Mum. As new users to a care home situation, we soon released that the staff did not not know Mum, there was no initial assessment of care, we had to chase to see a care plan, and when we did see it there was incorrect information. The lack of care was highlighted as Mum's teeth were not brushed or dentures despite this being recorded as having happened daily on the care app. Mum was really anxious and agitated the whole time she was at Sandiacre. Mum was inappropriately dressed numerous times. Within a week of being at a new home Mum was 100% settled

Based on a telephone consultation with hospital my mum was assessed as requiring Peacock unit - this was entirely incorrect. She's been placed in Linden Lea unit, in a lovely room, I'm still not sure this is the best place, time will tell.
The carers we've met have been responsive and very caring
but there are simply not enough carers in Linden Lea, this should be addressed to meet the needs of the people there - this is my biggest concern during the week my mum's been a resident. Activities look great but it appears that it's up to family to ensure my mum gets to participate.

I cannot recommend this care centre enough. My mother had dementia and Alzheimer's but enjoyed every day because of the care and devotion of the staff. The management have always been totally involved in everything that goes on. They are invested in making improvements all the time. It is always

My mother has had the loveliest time in the home and I have felt so reassured that she was well cared for. Our dad became a full time resident after a 2 week respite care and spent a total of 15 months before he sadly passed away last month. He sadly fell ill in February with 2 very bad infections and was hospitalised for 8 days, out for 6 days then declined dramatically week after, before we sadly lost
him. His time there was seeing him happy as he could be with dementia, but his moods became very challenging, although we did visit nearly every day or 2nd day, and as much as we could. The staff were very helpful, and really couldn't have done any more for dad or ourselves and also when we were told he was in end of life care, we chose for him to stay in Pitkerro rather than move him to hospital and given bedding, food, cups of tea, care and compassion. We decided we would collect donations at the funeral for the comfort fund for activities for the residents. If you're thinking of placing a loved one in care, look no further than Pitkerro. We wouldn't have placed our dad anywhere else. F/L
