The care given is really good. They engage residents in activities regularly. Mum seems happy here and knows the staff.
My mother had the most kind and attentive care from the staff at Orchard Nursing Home from February 2022, when she became a resident, until she passed away on 30 October 2022, just a few months short of her 100th birthday. She had to endure the whole of the Covid episode with all its government-imposed restrictions. But at no time did our family feel that she was not in the best place. She was indeed being well cared for, and we were all delighted to enjoy time visiting her there when the Covid restrictions were lifted. At her funeral, it was the family's decision that the money collected from those attending the funeral be donated to the Orchard Nursing Home as a thank you for her care which went way beyond just a fulfilment of professional care obligations but which was done with such love, care and attention.
My father moved to Orchar Nursing Home in April 2022 after his mobility deteriorated to the point he was no longer safe to stay at home. My father was made to feel very welcome by staff and management and soon settled into life with his new 'Orchar family'. My father was treated with kindness, respect and dignity by all members of the staff working to make Orchar Nursing Home feel like home from home. His plan of care was tailored to his needs and he flourished within the home. I was made to feel part of the 'Orchar family' when visiting and felt staff were looking after both myself and my father. My father sadly passed away in early February in Orchar, after a short illness. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff for their exceptional delivery of end-of-life care given to my father, his passing was very peaceful.
My mother was a resident at Orchar Nursing Home for 7 years and sadly died there recently. Over the years, I was always impressed by the care that she received from the dedicated, hardworking staff, but the standard of end-of-life care in her final weeks and the kindness and support shown to me and my husband during this difficult time were exceptional. I will always be grateful to Orchar for providing my mother with a home from home, and for making us all feel part of the Orchar family.
My mother was a resident in Orchar Nursing Home for 18 months prior to her death in August of this year. During this time my mum was given excellent care both emotionally and latterly, physically. The staff were always so kind to all of us and when Mum became increasingly unwell gave her so much support and love. It was a source of comfort to us that mum's end of life care was so good.
My mother has been a resident for a year now and we have been very happy with the welcome we have all received. She settled quite quickly, being supported by all members of staff. We are kept well informed of events, both medical and social. she enjoys the music therapy and has started singing again as a result. There always seems to be plenty of staff.
My dad was a resident in Orchar Nursing Home for only a short time but was made very welcome from day one, all the staff were very welcoming and helpful with nothing too much of an issue for the staff, lovely room with all the facilities he required, great food, day time activities and great views over the Tay in a central location.
All the cares are kind and cheerful and always happy to help.
The meals are excellent, and she looks forward to mealtimes.
Her bedroom is comfortable, warm and safe to move around.
There are comfortable lounges to use and regular activities.
Overall I am delighted with the care my aunt receives at Orchar.
My mother has stayed at Orchar Nursing Home for the past 7 years. We are extremely happy with her care. the staff are very helpful and caring. We really feel at ease knowing that my mother is looked after well. She particularly enjoys the entertainment especially the sing a longs.
My aunt regarded Orchar Nursing Home as her second home and the staff as family. Sociable by nature, she was once more able to have a quality of life. Staff took her on outings to nearby shops. When she was able, she enjoyed bus trips, tea dances, parties in Orchar where she just loved to dance often being first on the floor. Art therapy and music therapy gave her joy.
We feel very lucky to have found such a caring home to look after my aunt.
Mum was resident for 18 months till she passed away Peacefully in April 2021. She had come from a big care home in Edinburgh, where there was a large staff and turnover of staff. Orchar, in comparison, was much more friendly with settled staff who all get on well together. The whole staff have been a delight to mum and to us as visiting relatives. Like family. These have been hard times due to Covid but the staff have been unflinching in their commitment to the highest standards, despite being depleted in numbers at times. Great food. The staff are always friendly and very helpful. Caring, committed and competent. During low points in mum’s health, the staff would regularly phone to give updates. Facilitating visits and options during this latest COVID season, has been brilliant, allowing visits during her last days. The staff work as a harmonious team. Well supported by a great manager and enhanced by a lovely head chef, who went out of her way to get what mum liked. All very good.
Before Mum moved into Orchar Nursing Home, her physical and mental health had been deteriorating steadily and seemingly irreversibly over the course of the previous 2 years. Despite Mum’s initial reservations about the move she agreed to an initial respite placement at the Orchar in December 2019. Subsequently, over the course of 2020 (and in spite of the exceptional challenges presented by the COVID-19 Pandemic) her numerous medical conditions have been carefully managed by the Orchar team and the improvements in both her physical and mental health have been truly remarkable. The round the clock care, kindness and professionalism provided by all the staff is absolutely first class and I have been delighted by the steady improvements Mum has enjoyed in both her physical and mental health and the quality of life she can enjoy at the Orchar. Thanks to all of the team at the Orchar and long may it continue!
When I was looking through photos of my mum, it was startling to see how ill she looked on day one of her stay at the Orchar Nursing Home. Six months later the change was amazing. She looked so healthy and full of life, a testament to how well she was looked after. It was an Indian Summer to cap an immensely full life. In the difficult days of the pandemic, bonds with the staff grew stronger and she was nursed back to health every time she was ill with one thing or another. I will have very fond memories of my visits to the home where I was made to feel very welcome.
She arrived from England in a confused state, but within a week, Orchar had her transformed with great care and lovely meals.
She has made a few new friends, which is heartening too. A hairdresser is an added bonus.
Communication with my sister and me has been appreciated with regard to Covid and minor ailments.
Staff answering the phone or at the front door are welcoming and friendly.
I am so glad there was a space available for my aunt at Orchar last year.
Mum and Dad enjoy the excellent care, good range of activities and the warm friendly environment here. Thanks to the professional yet cheerful, positive attitude of the team, and the town centre location, Orchar was their choice for residential care three years ago when they needed more assistance than could be successfully provided at home. They love the entertainment and activities, always have good things to say about the meals and food in general, and we all appreciate the effort made for special celebrations. The past year's COVID-19 lockdown situations presented enormous challenges, and continue to do so; however, the management and the rest of the team have responded outstandingly. As well as being hugely thankful for their continuing excellent care and well-being support of Mum and Dad, I've been impressed by and grateful for the team's responsiveness and open communication during such a worrying time. I can't imagine anywhere else meeting Mum and Dad's differing needs so well.
My husband has been a resident at Orchar Nursing Home for over a year now. He moved there from hospital with dementia and other complex medical needs. From day one he has been extremely well cared for. There is a lovely homely feeling to Orchar and the staff are all really friendly and welcoming to our family and friends. Over time, everyone has made an effort to get to know my husband and his likes and dislikes and he appears to be very settled and contented there. The staff have made what could have been a difficult time for us much easier by their love and attention to him.
My dad has been a resident in Orchar for a number of years now. Right from the start, it felt the right choice for both dad and the family. We are now well and truly part of the Orchar family. These last few months I don't think that anyone could have foreseen the present situation but I can only thank my lucky stars that dad is where he is. I have always admired and totally appreciated all the staff in the home. However, since Covid-19 has been a cause for concern they have exceeded themselves. They have kept us informed, always there to answer questions and give reassurance about how my dad is doing. They have provided every opportunity for us to see our relatives, within government guidelines, whether it be by a video call or outdoor distanced meet dependent on the weather. I cannot praise every one of them enough and embracing us so warmly into their small community. I will never be able to thank them enough for all they have done, and are still doing.
After my mum had a massive stroke we were faced with having to find the right home for her, its a daunting process and it has to be right for the resident and the family. When I first visited Orchar, I had a good feeling, it felt homely, friendly and not regimented. Mum has now been there for a year and is happy and settled, we as a family are happy with the care she receives and the way they have coped during the Covid Pandemic, even though visits were stopped for a long time mum never felt lonely as the residents are treated like family by all the staff, which during this time was reassuring for us. Orchar has given us peace of mind that mum is safe and well cared for.
My mother has been a resident in Orchar since October 2018, my mother suffers from Dementia so she could no longer live alone. Both mum and I are very happy with the level of loving care provided at Orchar, my mum was a very independent woman and Orchar provides the correct balance of care that gives my mum the feeling that she is an individual. All the staff are welcoming and caring from the manager to the handyman. I am so happy we chose Orchar together as we are both delighted with our choice. Throughout this Covid crisis, Orchar has provided excellent care for my mum and keep me informed at all times of any developments they also made lots of time for myself and extended family to have lovely FaceTime chats so my mum has not felt isolated during this pandemic. I can’t recommend Orchar highly enough. I have said many times to my husband I am so glad we chose Orchar.
However, we need not have worried as all of the staff have been outstanding and Mum has been looked after in a caring and compassionate way, like a member of their own family. During these unprecedented times, they have provided excellent client focused care.
Mum has enjoyed the variety of entertainment provided which keeps the residents engaged in social activities and she enjoys the variety and quality of the meals on offer.
