Overall Experience

My husband stayed here to give me a 2 week respite, and although he had a difficult first couple of days due to a change in his medication (nothing to do with the Home) once settled he had only praise for the staff and facilities. His room was bright and clean with lots of space to put his clothes etc, the food was varied and good (and I was always offered a drink, or a meal if I was there). He did have a problem with the noise of other people's TV's, and the normal chatter etc., but that is bound to be found in a place like this - and which most people would find reassuring. But with the door shut, his room was pretty quiet. The staff were very attentive, kind and good humoured.

I am delighted to see my mum flourish in the care of the wonderful staff at Castle View. She has so much more stimulation than we could have offered at home. She is such a sociable lady with a great sense of humour.
She seems to be shining here. Her appetite is better and she is drinking much more.

Thank you.

At a very difficult time, finally admitting my wife needs more care than I could give her at home. I found the manager and his staff very supportive and caring. They put my wife and myself at ease and have made the transition from home to care as easy and with a lot of understanding and dignity.

Overall we are happy with the care my mother receives.

The only problems we came across are that her hearing aid battery is not always changed when required and so limits her interaction.

She has 'lost' her teeth on a number of occasions but if they were placed to soak overnight, this would not happen!

We feel the food is of a high standard and staff are very good.

Shortage of staff bedevils all attempts to excel. Staff on duty make every effort to cover but find it difficult. Increased remuneration would undoubtedly improve recruitment and retention of well-qualified personnel.

I am very happy with the care received by my Mum. The staff are well trained and extremely thoughtful, knowledgeable and compassionate. If I had had any concerns or worries staff are always helpful and spend the time to help. The manager is always available and approachable should I wish to speak with him. My only concerns are the level of staffing does appear low putting staff under unnecessary pressure during busy periods and the home is in need of some decoration and remedial building works.

We are pleased that mother has settled into Castle View Nursing Home. Initially, she was extremely poorly with vascular dementia, hip problem, she is now mobile with the use of a zimmer frame. She likes to be washed/dressed much earlier than 10:00 am lack of staff? She enjoys the afternoon activities but would like them everyday, holiday, admin, illness means no activities some days. Appreciates the hairdresser service. Likes the current chef making fresh fruit salad for her.
