Stowford House is clean, light and well maintained. The staff are generally friendly and caring and both staff and management have been stable for several years. Their approach is flexible- focused on the residents, for example my parents were served their meals in the lounge. Now my father is very independent, and everyone has done their best to adapt to his wishes. The facilities are good- generous sized light rooms. Room to sit in outside or their own room. The food is great, home cooked and plenty of it!

Many thanks yet again to the Manager and Deputy Manager at Stowford House for their continued concern and care for both my parents over the course of a difficult month for them both. Yet again, hospital transport booked for my mother's crucial appointment today didn't arrive.

Yet again, the Management came to the rescue. We are so grateful as a family for all that the staff carry out; to make everyone's lives run as smoothly and as stress free as possible.

My Dad has been at Stowford for six months now. I chose Stowford because Shamek the deputy manager actually took the time to visit my Dad and assess his needs - he was in hospital in Marlborough. Other care home made a phone call.
The care has been very good and personal to my Dad's needs.
I also like the fact that upstairs is for people with milder dementia and downstairs is for residents with more advanced care needs.

I highly recommend Shamek and the home.

Mum was reluctant to move to a care home but needed full nursing care. Every member of staff helped her to adjust quickly because of their kindness and respect. She was able to enjoy the activities and outings despite severe mobility problems. Not last 6 months were spent at Stowford House and we could not have asked for better care from everyone.

My parents are now both enjoying the excellent care provided by Stowford House.
My father is recovering from an operation and is very frail. All the staff treat him gently, with a smile and respect.
My mother can no longer be left at home alone and she has blossomed since her arrival at Stowford, happily joining in most of the activities. She is making friendships and loves the tasty food.

My heartfelt thanks go to all the staff, for whom nothing is too much trouble.

From the time I enter Stowford House I feel welcomed and at home. The staff are very friendly, professional and helpful. Working with a smile on their face and making Mum feel truly special. We are very happy with Mum being in Stowford House, where she is well cared for and provided with entertainment which she enjoys, especially singing.
The food is very healthy, with the chef and his staff doing their utmost to provide dishes which the residents enjoy. I am particularly impressed with the home made gel sweets which are given to the residents during the extreme heat, which is good for hyrdration. Mum loves the cookies and cakes, she's always had a sweet tooth.
The special events are well advertised and always a pleasure to attend.

What more can I say, the manager and her staff are patient and amazing which gives Mum a relaxing home to live in.

My Mum stayed at Stowford House for a respite break in July '25. She was kept safe and comfortable during her stay, which happened at a time of hot weather which must have been challenging for everyone in the home, and her time was enriched by the opportunity to go out on a trip with other residents. The manager and deputy-manager were both very approachable, and worked quickly to resolve any questions I had as they arose. The staff were lovely, incredibly kind and caring, and It felt like they cared about Mum and her experience, even though she was only with there for a short time. Another strength was the activities programme, which offered lots of opportunities for people to get involved in wellbeing activities. I would have liked to see a bit more time and attention given to Mum's food and her skin care, where she has some challenging specific issues, but overall I felt this was a good respite break, would use again, and I was very touched by the kindness and atmosphere of the home

Our aunt became a resident in February 2025. She has suffered a fall at home and spent time in hospital. She was unable to look after herself and was reluctantly persuaded to take a trial at Stowfield House. It was obvious that the care provided suited her and her needs. We are delighted with her progress since she came into care. Thank you all for your help.

My mother has been in Stowford for 18 months and really enjoys it, she loves the activities and enjoys the lovely food. All the staff are very nice and always ready to help her, whatever she needs is not ever a problem. Most of all she enjoys the company of the other residents and having a good chat with them over dinner.

Well done Stowford House, keep up the good work.

I believe my mother is in a very welcoming and supportive care home. I believe she is be looked after medically, physically and mentally in a very professional setting.
The staff are very welcoming and very helpful.

If I have one thing that is disappointing it is the cleaning of my mother's room which could be better. Also my mother needs a straw in order to drink her tea and other drinks, because of the collar she wears. Unfortunately very often she isn't given one.

My mother has been resident in Stowford House since February 2023. It is an extremely friendly home and she is very happy there. All residents are treated with respect and they are persuaded to join in the varied activities wherever possible. Christmas 2024 has been a particular highlight with carol services, a Christmas party and then, in the new year, a pantomime which have been much enjoyed.

Clean, well run with pleasant staff who are willing to listen to any request. Food good but needs to be served hotter and more in keeping with timetable. Activities are varied and well motivated. The exercise class given by the outside person is longer and with more interaction with the residents than the Scottish video exercises.

There's no question that my father's health has improved considerably during the last 12 months directly due to the level of care provided by the staff at Stowford House. His room is always immaculate and very clean, as is the rest of the building, the carers are always attentive and the quality of the food is likely better than he has ever eaten. Thank you to all of the team for the fantastic job they're doing.

Stephanie Jones
Stephanie JonesJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2023

After qualifying as a registered nurse, I specialised in elderly care, working as a nurse consultant and modern matron.

This role involved managing several community hospitals and an NHS nursing home, which naturally led me into the management of care homes. Throughout my career, I have been committed to ensuring high standards of care.

I am deeply passionate about providing residents at Stowford House with the highest quality of care and support. I firmly believe that every resident deserves a tailored approach to their care, allowing them to live happily and meaningfully while maintaining the freedom to choose the support they wish to receive.

Building strong relationships with residents and their families is essential to me, as I recognise the vital role these connections play in the effective operation of a care home. My door is always open for any conversations or concerns, and I am dedicated to fostering an environment where residents feel valued, respected, and truly at home.
